Vincenzo has quickly turned into a war between lawyers, giving the audience some juice to watch.
Episode 6 continues with the protest outside the courtroom — it’s a protest against Babel Chemicals. Vincenzo and Cha-young give the protestors a thumbs up. It’s the first day of court for the lawsuit versus Babel Chemicals.
Delaying the trial
But Vincenzo and Cha-young need time, so it’s time for them to be creative, and judging by what we saw in episode 4, this is only a small feat.
Choi Myung-hee makes her opening argument and states that the researchers did not follow safety regulations, but Cha-young struggles to refute that claim due to a “panic disorder”. She asks the judge if she can take some medication, however, moments later, she faints. However, flashbacks reveal that this is part of the plan — they call it “removing the dealer from the table”. The judge does not delay the trial, so Cha-young gets up straight away as their plan failed.
As Cha-young starts to refute the claims, there’s a blackout — Vincenzo and Cha-young also planned this. This also doesn’t work, so Cha-young starts her refute again, and this time they release two hornets to cause chaos and panic. Choi Myung-hee looks over to Vincenzo, and she knows he planned this. They had made sure that a certain liquid spilt on the judge before the trial began so that the hornet goes towards him. The judge returns with his face completely swollen. The judge delays the trial by a week before falling unconscious.
Afterwards, Choi Myung-hee accuses Cha-young of disrespecting the sacred court for the sake of a week, but Cha-young brushes her off and cites how Babel Group has coerced a judge before. She calls Wusang and Babel Group despicable. But you get the feeling Cha-young needs to be warier of Choi Myung-hee.
Vincenzo visits his mother
Vincenzo episode 6 then revisits a story that went cold for a couple of chapters, but we are still interested in it.
Hong Yu-chan used to visit Oh Gyeong-ja every Tuesday in prison, but now that he’s dead, she has no visitors — Vincenzo pays a visit in Hong Yu-chan’s place. There’s a lot of emotions riding on this, considering it’s Vincenzo’s mother. Oh Gyeong-ja doesn’t know this. The prisoner thanks him for coming, but Vincenzo tells her there will be no more visitors unless she gets family and friends to help. Oh Gyeong-ja tells him that she has nobody, not even children — she admits her life has been full of excuses and apologises. Vincenzo leaves and claims he is exiting Korea as this isn’t his country. Oh Gyeong-ja gives him a sincere goodbye. A conflicted Vincenzo sees the monk from the plaza for some advice; the pain of seeing his mother irks him. We don’t believe this will be the last time Vincenzo visits his mother.
Tampering with bugs and work drinks
Following on from the failed courtroom proceeding, Choi Myung-hee has planted a recording device in Vincenzo and Cha-young’s office, however, they are already one step ahead of her and tampered with it. Choi Myung-hee has met her match. Cha-young wants drinks with Vincenzo, believing it will make them work together better, but you can sense it’s really because she’s warmed to him since her father has died.
While out drinking, Vincenzo tells Cha-young a secret — he reveals about the gold underneath the plaza. However, a drunk Cha-young believes he is joking and toys with him back. Vincenzo is flabbergasted that she thinks he’s joking.
But the gold is still the problem
And the issue of the gold returns — it’s easy to forget that Vincenzo is involved in crime when his opposition is evil.
When Vincenzo returns home, Mr Cho has left him an explosion system device. He wants to find another way of retrieving the gold as he’s running out of time. Vincenzo enters the temple and takes some measurements with the explosion device while Mr An spies on him. Mr An does not understand what Vincenzo is doing and concludes that he needs to observe him longer. Vincenzo has no idea that a police officer is spying on him, but you’ll think when the time comes, he’ll be able to outwit him.
Preparing to testify
Cha-young tells the family of the victims that they need to testify next time in the trial. She tells them to brace themselves as the opposition lawyer will be malicious. Vincenzo tells Cha-young that they need to find out who the enemies of Babel Chemicals are so that they can find some leverage during the trials. Vincenzo episode 6 ultimately reveals how unprepared they actually are.
Jang Jun-woo reveals that he’s the real boss
Episode 6 then brings a cool moment — Jang Joon-woo does not seem phased about showing himself as the real boss since episode 4.
Choi Myung-hee and Mr Han are called into the office by Chairman Jang Han-seo. At the meetings, Jang Joon-woo presents, while Mr Han watches nervously, not knowing that he is the conglomerate’s real boss. Jang Joon-woo puts Chairman Jang’s family in a bad light in the presentation and then reveals himself to be the other son — and by doing so, he reveals himself to be the real boss of Babel. Mr Han is in shock, but Choi Myung-hee just nods. Jang Han-seo celebrates with Jang Joon-woo about this revelation. When people realise that Jang Joon-woo is the boss, there’s immediately a sense of fear that emanates off the character — he transforms.
Mr Han is panicky as he hasn’t given Jang Joon-woo much respect recently. Jang Joon-woo wants to know who they need to pay off for the trial and asks Choi Myung-hee to give him a list. He then questions the performance of Wusang at the trial — he states that Vincenzo was wielding the sword. Choi Myung-hee returns home, and she’s furious.
Going on the offensive
Episode 6 sees how Babel Group will do everything in their power to cause chaos in the trial to win.

Babel Group has gone on the offensive. Cha-young heads to the police station to free him. The police show Cha-young and Vincenzo evidence. The treasurer and the victims state they are falsely accused.
Losing witnesses
Vincenzo and Cha-young are truly up against it now, and it gets worse.
Cha-young receives a call from Mr Nam — the court states their witnesses have been denied, including Lee U-yeong — they found meth in his blood (scenes showed a doctor injecting the drug in him while asleep). Jang Joon-woo then approaches Cha-young and asks her to rejoin Wusang rather than work on these gruelling cases. He then warns Vincenzo not to dig his own grave and that if he were a smart man, he’d give up. Vincenzo states that a smart man knows when an opponent is weak before walking off. Surprisingly, Vincenzo did not sense the Mafia vibes in this scene. Jang Joon-woo continues to be under the radar with these two characters.
The ending
The trial continues as the judge opens proceedings. The judge asks Cha-young if she has any witnesses at all — she says she has a “surprise witness”. In walks Vincenzo, leaving Choi Myung-hee shocked. She’s thrown another roll of the dice, but what evidence will Vincenzo bring?

Not The Bees!
Episode 6 of Vincenzo begins with the court session beginning in a room that’s leaking water from the walls and ceiling. It seems like the toilers are flooding but it’s too late to move rooms.
Feet squelching and tensions high, Cha-Young struggles to hold it together as the Babel Chemicals case looks set to commence. As a show of defiance, the Geumga Plaza residents all decide not to stand up to the judge… and immediately change their minds when they see him walk through the door. He steps up to his seat…and immediately slips over and lands flat on his back.
Myung-Hee starts us of with her opening statement which goes unchallenged as Cha-Young struggles to speak. She admits to suffering from a panic disorder and eventually passes out on the floor. All of this is their plan; removing the dealer from the table. It seems to work too until the judge admits that they need to continue the case no matter what. And just like that, Cha-Young stands back up like nothing’s wrong and continues.
Next up is a blackout, courtesy of Vincenzo’s handiwork. Again, this doesn’t work and in the blacked out courtroom they decide to use laptops. As they do, chaos breaks out as the residents release a couple of hornets into the air in order to postpone the court trial.
While everyone scrambles out, Cha-Young, Vincenzo and the Babel lawyers are the only ones remaining. The judge is stung while Lee Cheol-Wook too also feels the pain from the stinger. The Judge’s face is a puffy mess too and he struggles to speak. Eventually he decides to postpone the case by a week.
Court is adjourned and Myung-Hee can hardly contain her rage. She sinks back in her seat while Cha-Young and Vincenzo walk away with their heads held high, victorious in their play to postpone the case. Myung-Hee has the audacity to call Cha-Young low but she calls out her hypocrisy, especially when she mentions the bribed judge.
Vincenzo heads to the prison in place of Mr Hong. It turns out he was a public defender for a woman named Gyeong-Ja. He sits with her as she thanks him for visiting. Only, it turns out this is just a courtesy call as he’s no longer going to represent her. Instead, he encourages her to try and rely on family or friends to help. Just before he leaves, she bows slightly and bids him farewell, with Vincenzo admitting that he’s leaving the country.
It’s clear this meeting has taken its toll though, as he stands on a bridge after and smokes. This prison visit is a tough one, especially given it brings back memories of the past regarding his own Mum. Struggling with his own anger issues, Vincenzo helps Monk Jeokha carry a rather large cross he’s donating. After, they sit together where Jeokha encourages him to fight back in order to free his anger.
Meanwhile, An is called back into the office with Director Tae but he can’t stop crying. Chopping onions is obviously the reason but the Director believes he’s wallowing in self pity. Anyway, he asks An to head back to the office as soon as possible. Once there, Tae talks to him about the consigliere and specifically how he’s disobeyed orders by investigating him. It turns out he’s been called in because Law Firm Wusang and Babel Group have both requested a background check on Vincenzo.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, it turns out the plant Myung-Hee dropped off last episode has a listening device installed within. However, when they turn it on they hear a strange sound coming from it. It turns out Vincenzo and Cha-Young knew all about this, especially given Vincenzo’s experience with wire-tapping.
As they discuss the case, Vincenzo admits that he wants to wrap this up as soon as possible and leave. Cha-Young however has something to say – she asks him out for some drinks that evening. While they do, Vincenzo admits the truth about the gold hidden underneath the temple. Cha-Young quips back and believes he’s joking.
Back home, Vincenzo receives some equipment to measure electrical currents. However, he accidentally electrocutes himself and bows in pain. Outside the door though, An spies him on his knees and believes he’s repenting for his sin.
That evening, the Geumga Plaza residents join together and celebrate their day in court. Chef Toto is annoyed he couldn’t attend, given he was cooking for some popular influencers, but soon finds himself confronted by a much more sinister face outside. Apparently this is Gilbert and he’s a homeless man. Toto is not so quick to trust him but the other men and women invite him in nonetheless. He tells them they’re all extremely lucky. The ominous glance he gives to the camera seems to hint that this is someone in disguise but that’s just a guess at this point.
Well, Joon-Woo receives the reports from An, written up with sincerity including all of Vincenzo’s big accomplishments. While the Babel lawyers try to make sense of this, everyone prepares for the second trial. Cha-Young warns them all that they need to be vigilant as Babel are relentless.
Babel group hold their meeting, with Han-Seo nervous in the wake of Joon-Woo’s presentation. Myung-Hee senses this too and begins to look at them all suspiciously. As he mentions the two sons, Joon-Woo eventually lets loose the secret that Joon-Woo is the real chairman and owner of Babel Group. It’s flamboyant, its ridiculous but it’s also one that finally gets the secret out in the open. He has some pretty scathing words for Myung-Hee too, prompting her to spark into life and concocting a brand new plan.
That plan comes from Babel group playing dirty, knocking out the treasurer and forcing him into admitting to bribes. This incriminates all the victims’ families and changes the complexion of the case immediately. News of this breaks on the morning news too, while U-Yeong is injected with traces of meth. This means both can’t be used as witnesses in a court of law. Vincenzo and Cha-Young are left reeling, struggling to work out what to do next.
Of course Joon-Woo shows up. He asks Cha-Young to return to Wusang but when she refuses, Joon-Woo turns to Vincenzo and confronts him instead. He mentions digging graves, which Vincenzo hits back at, telling Joon-Woo the grave is being dug for him and Babel instead. He refuses to shake Vincenzo’s hand too and stares him down as he walks away.
We then cut forward five days to the second hearing. Hilariously, there’s a bee expert on hand this time just in case, With the tables stacked against Geumga Plaza, they’re forced to listen to these various testimonies. The Episode Review
The verdict is still out for Vincenzo, which continues to flirt the line between comedic drama and dark action thriller. Over the last 6 episodes, there have been some really great moments, and some dud ones too. The long episode run-times make it a difficult thing to keep up this level of comedy and at times the tone of this jumps back and forth so much it doesn’t quite settle into something more consistent.
However, there’s some undeniably creative ideas here and when the humour works, it really does work an absolute treat. The idea of using Vincenzo’s smarts to play dirty and completely mess up the court room is a good one, with the bee expert at the end a lovely touch in all this. Director An spying Vincenzo messing about with the electrical scanners is another particularly great moment too, playing on clever ideas and long-form gags that have been the staple of this so far.
By comparison you have the darker drama elements. There’s a distinct lack of action this time around too, and much like last episode this show is starting to sink into a more predictable law drama format. Vincenzo and Cha-Young have some good chemistry together though which helps, while the actual storyline is interesting and has some nice back and forth rapport on both sides of the conflict.
While the show is perhaps a little bloated and could do with a bit more tonal consistency, for the most part this has been an enjoyable watch and has enough pizzazz to keep you watching to find out what happens next.
Vincenzo – K-Drama Episode 6 Recap & Review
Not The Bees!
Episode 6 of Vincenzo begins with the court session beginning in a room that’s leaking water from the walls and ceiling. It seems like the toilers are flooding but it’s too late to move rooms.
Feet squelching and tensions high, Cha-Young struggles to hold it together as the Babel Chemicals case looks set to commence. As a show of defiance, the Geumga Plaza residents all decide not to stand up to the judge… and immediately change their minds when they see him walk through the door. He steps up to his seat…and immediately slips over and lands flat on his back.
Myung-Hee starts us of with her opening statement which goes unchallenged as Cha-Young struggles to speak. She admits to suffering from a panic disorder and eventually passes out on the floor. All of this is their plan; removing the dealer from the table. It seems to work too until the judge admits that they need to continue the case no matter what. And just like that, Cha-Young stands back up like nothing’s wrong and continues.
Next up is a blackout, courtesy of Vincenzo’s handiwork. Again, this doesn’t work and in the blacked out courtroom they decide to use laptops. As they do, chaos breaks out as the residents release a couple of hornets into the air in order to postpone the court trial.
While everyone scrambles out, Cha-Young, Vincenzo and the Babel lawyers are the only ones remaining. The judge is stung while Lee Cheol-Wook too also feels the pain from the stinger. The Judge’s face is a puffy mess too and he struggles to speak. Eventually he decides to postpone the case by a week.
Court is adjourned and Myung-Hee can hardly contain her rage. She sinks back in her seat while Cha-Young and Vincenzo walk away with their heads held high, victorious in their play to postpone the case. Myung-Hee has the audacity to call Cha-Young low but she calls out her hypocrisy, especially when she mentions the bribed judge.
Vincenzo heads to the prison in place of Mr Hong. It turns out he was a public defender for a woman named Gyeong-Ja. He sits with her as she thanks him for visiting. Only, it turns out this is just a courtesy call as he’s no longer going to represent her. Instead, he encourages her to try and rely on family or friends to help. Just before he leaves, she bows slightly and bids him farewell, with Vincenzo admitting that he’s leaving the country.
It’s clear this meeting has taken its toll though, as he stands on a bridge after and smokes. This prison visit is a tough one, especially given it brings back memories of the past regarding his own Mum. Struggling with his own anger issues, Vincenzo helps Monk Jeokha carry a rather large cross he’s donating. After, they sit together where Jeokha encourages him to fight back in order to free his anger.
Meanwhile, An is called back into the office with Director Tae but he can’t stop crying. Chopping onions is obviously the reason but the Director believes he’s wallowing in self pity. Anyway, he asks An to head back to the office as soon as possible. Once there, Tae talks to him about the consigliere and specifically how he’s disobeyed orders by investigating him. It turns out he’s been called in because Law Firm Wusang and Babel Group have both requested a background check on Vincenzo.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, it turns out the plant Myung-Hee dropped off last episode has a listening device installed within. However, when they turn it on they hear a strange sound coming from it. It turns out Vincenzo and Cha-Young knew all about this, especially given Vincenzo’s experience with wire-tapping.
As they discuss the case, Vincenzo admits that he wants to wrap this up as soon as possible and leave. Cha-Young however has something to say – she asks him out for some drinks that evening. While they do, Vincenzo admits the truth about the gold hidden underneath the temple. Cha-Young quips back and believes he’s joking.
Back home, Vincenzo receives some equipment to measure electrical currents. However, he accidentally electrocutes himself and bows in pain. Outside the door though, An spies him on his knees and believes he’s repenting for his sin.
That evening, the Geumga Plaza residents join together and celebrate their day in court. Chef Toto is annoyed he couldn’t attend, given he was cooking for some popular influencers, but soon finds himself confronted by a much more sinister face outside. Apparently this is Gilbert and he’s a homeless man. Toto is not so quick to trust him but the other men and women invite him in nonetheless. He tells them they’re all extremely lucky. The ominous glance he gives to the camera seems to hint that this is someone in disguise but that’s just a guess at this point.
Well, Joon-Woo receives the reports from An, written up with sincerity including all of Vincenzo’s big accomplishments. While the Babel lawyers try to make sense of this, everyone prepares for the second trial. Cha-Young warns them all that they need to be vigilant as Babel are relentless.
Babel group hold their meeting, with Han-Seo nervous in the wake of Joon-Woo’s presentation. Myung-Hee senses this too and begins to look at them all suspiciously. As he mentions the two sons, Joon-Woo eventually lets loose the secret that Joon-Woo is the real chairman and owner of Babel Group. It’s flamboyant, its ridiculous but it’s also one that finally gets the secret out in the open. He has some pretty scathing words for Myung-Hee too, prompting her to spark into life and concocting a brand new plan.
That plan comes from Babel group playing dirty, knocking out the treasurer and forcing him into admitting to bribes. This incriminates all the victims’ families and changes the complexion of the case immediately. News of this breaks on the morning news too, while U-Yeong is injected with traces of meth. This means both can’t be used as witnesses in a court of law. Vincenzo and Cha-Young are left reeling, struggling to work out what to do next.
Of course Joon-Woo shows up. He asks Cha-Young to return to Wusang but when she refuses, Joon-Woo turns to Vincenzo and confronts him instead. He mentions digging graves, which Vincenzo hits back at, telling Joon-Woo the grave is being dug for him and Babel instead. He refuses to shake Vincenzo’s hand too and stares him down as he walks away.
We then cut forward five days to the second hearing. Hilariously, there’s a bee expert on hand this time just in case, With the tables stacked against Geumga Plaza, they’re forced to listen to these various testimonies. The Ending Of Vincenzo Season 1 Explained
Revenge is one of the oldest subjects in fiction, because it’s an inherently volatile concept. All of us can understand the need for revenge. However, even when it’s justified, getting revenge has a way of warping people. Can we get revenge and still remain the person we used to be? That’s the question at the heart of “Vincenzo,” a hit new Korean mafia drama that concluded its first season on May 2, 2021.
“Vincenzo” follows a South Korea-born mafia consiglieri named Vincenzo (neé Park Joo-Hyung), who arrives in Seoul with the goal of recovering 1.5 tons of gold stashed inside the Gemuga Plaza skyscraper, which the corrupt real-estate company The Babel Group has taken over. He teams up with an ambitious young lawyer named Han Cha-young, whose father The Babel Group has murdered.
After an action-packed 20 episodes, Vincenzo’s season finale delivers not just a high body count, but a definitive answer to its central question. Sadly, it looks like “Vincenzo” won’t be coming back for season 2. But there’s still a lot to unpack from the season 1 finale. Here’s what it all means.

2. Kwak Dong Yeon as Jang Han Seo
There were only a few scenes so far in Vincenzo where Kwak Dong Yeon’s character Jang Han Seo appeared, but we can already sense that he has a lot of evil schemes! At the same time, he seems like the type who is scared deep inside, as seen in Episode 2 when he was mistreated by an unknown figure in the ice skating rink. Han Seo is the president of the Babel Group, aka the major client of Cha Young’s law firm, Wusang.

Do you remember his special cameo in It’s Okay To Not Be Okay? He is Kwon Ki Do, the son of an assemblyman who is diagnosed with manic syndrome. He may appear extra lively on the outside, but there’s actually a deeper meaning behind his actions.
Dong Yeon was also cast in My ID Is Gangnam Beauty, this time as a teaching assistant and Do Kyung Seok (Cha Eun Woo)’s housemate! He was also part of the dramas Love In The Moonlight and Fight For My Way.
3. Kim Yeo Jin as Prosecutor Choi Myung Hee

In episode 12, our mafia corn salad (I mean consigliere) met with Gilbert and paid him a thousand bucks for him to relocate and forget about the gold. Gilbert was hesitant at first, but then he opened the thicc envelope full of $$$. He even surrendered the mobile phone he found to Vincenzo and pretended to lose his memory! What gold???

Prison Playbook fans, do you remember Ahn Chang Hwan as Croney, the enemy-turned-loyal assistant of Kim Jae Hyuk? He almost killed our baseball superstar when he had a different ~boss~ but he eventually warmed up to him and served Jae Hyuk the best that he can. Ahn Chang Hwan also starred in the other Park Jae Bum-written series, The Fiery Priest, and was also in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon.
12. Choi Young Joon as Mr. Cho
Episode 12 also left us with a cliffhanger: Vincenzo and his long-time ally Mr. Cho successfully entered Geumga Plaza’s basement, discovered the bars of gold, and when our mafia was already happy to see his pile of fortune, Mr. Cho places a gun against his head. I’m still *so* annoyed and hurt for Vincenzo after he betrayed him! Imagine trusting a friend and who turned out to be disloyal, all because of money. Nakakagigil!

You saw them in episode 12 as the actors on the TV screen that Joon Woo was watching. Yung nagbabarilan, LOL. Before he discovered that Jang Joon Woo is the *real* Babel boss, lawyer Han Seung Hyuk would often reprimand him as the law firm’s intern. Joon Woo would often reply: “Sorry, boss!” Now, the tables have turned and he’s always shaking whenever Joon Woo is near. But it looks like Wusang’s CEO is partnering with Jang Han Seo and coming up with a plan to bring Joon Woo down. Will they succeed kaya? Abangan!

I just have to say that the Vincenzo’s team found the cutest little bunny to play Vincenzo as an itty bitty kid and could not stop squeeing at how cute he is. He is just so cuuuuuute!
VINCENZO RECAP EPISODE 6
We open with the tenants are outside protesting Babel. Our lawyers go inside where we find out that the judge is the sunbae of Choi Myung-hee, which means this trial is unwinnable for our good guys.
They also know this so they try and sabotage the trial. The one thing they don’t do is the water leak which is just a bad design in the building. Incidentally, it is a building that Babel built. That works in the teams favor though because the judge slips on the water which just gets the trial started all wrong.
The three big plans that our team has to postpone the trial are:
Hong Cha-young faints during the trial due to panic disorder that she makes up. But it doesn’t work so she wakes up to carry on with the trial The second plan is to cut the electricity, but the judge said they can carry on The last plan was to make everyone leave the court.
They did this by secretly releasing two huge bee eating hornets in the courtroom. Everyone runs for the door. Though the judge says they can continue. However, earlier on, Jang Yeon-jin pretended like she was blind and wasted honey water on the judge so the hornets are attracted to him (because they are bee eating hornets).
The judge gets stung (Lee Chul-wook gets stung as well on his derrière) and he judges face swells up a good amount so he has to break for one week.
The team has bought some time so they start working out what they can do for the case. In the meanwhile, Vincenzo visits his mother to tell her that no one is going to visit her anymore since the other lawyer died. He asks if she has anyone, she says no one, not even kids which makes him upset.
He leaves and thinks back to when he was adopted by the Italian family and goodness, they got the cutest little muffin to play his younger self.
Meanwhile, Lawyer Choi tries to activate her flower pot in order to spy on Vincenzo, but Vincenzo knew it was a spy flower pot and gave it to the dancer so all they hear are zombie sounds.
The NIS agent finds out that Babel and the Law Firm want a background check on Vincenzo so the NIS agent makes up a super amazing background for Vincenzo to give to them. he does this because he thinks Vincenzo is a great man especially because he saw Vincenzo “praying” in the Buddhist temple room in the building. Though Vincenzo wasn’t praying, he had just slightly gotten electrocuted and was upset that the security system on the safe worked.
Vincenzo is able to convince the tenants to go to a new building, so all he has to do is demolish the current building.
Elsewhere, we see that Jang Joon-woo is going to give a presentation on the Woosung Law firm to Babel. But what he actually did was reveal himself as the real owner of babel using a Star Wars Introduction. He is the lawful first son of Babel Owner. Jang Han-seo is the son of the secretary.
So now Choi Myung-hee and Han Seong-huk know that Jang Joon-woo is the owner. They change their behavior around him to account for this. Though Choi Myung-hee hates this and starts to full on attack the good guys.
They destroy the witnesses life as corrupt and plant a lot of money in their houses. They also say that the monks friend is a heroin addict and injected the friend with heroin for it to show up in his stats.
So he team is in a bad spot.
When court opens again, the big surprise is that Vincenzo is the surprise witness. Somehow he went to jail, so he gets un-handcuffed and led into the courtroom.
They got back to a lot of the fun and funnies in this episode which I appreciated a lot! I am starting to warm to Joon-woo as the big bad guy mostly because he is still keeping a bit of his playful goofy nature even though he is throwing in a seriousness as well. I also really think this show excels when they have the tenants in the episode a lot, which they did well here. the opening 15 minutes was pretty funny.
I pulled an all-nighter which is why this post is pretty late. Hopefully next week I’ll go to sleep at a reasonable! See y’all next week for another episode!
Vincenzo: Episode 6 Recap
Fighting against monsters like Babel wasn’t going to be easy, but who says it can’t be fun? Cha-young and Vincenzo make the most out of every opportunity presented in front of them. Just when it seems like all hope is lost, it really isn’t. There is always hope.
Vincenzo: Episode 6 Recap
The first trial hearing against Babel Chemicals is underway and everyone gathers inside of the courtroom. On his way to a brief and private chat with Mr. Han and Lawyer Choi, the judge of the case – Judge Heo – bumps into Yeon-jin and gets a bunch of liquid all over him. Yeon-jin pretends to not have seen him and Judge Heo is irritated. He then meets up with the two Wusang lawyers for a bit and they all have a friendly chat before the trial. This isn’t Judge Heo’s first time cleaning up after Babel’s mess and he assumes things shouldn’t be any different from before. He thinks this lawsuit will be an easy win for Wusang again just like all the other times. And so Mr. Han and Lawyer Choi make their way into the courtroom only to find that water has been leaking from the ceiling above. All the other rooms are occupied so they have no choice but to stay in their current room. Everyone works with it and settles in for the hearing. Vincenzo pays close attention to Cha-young and notices how nervous and anxious she’s getting.
While waiting for Judge Heo, our Geumga tenants all converse with each other over why they need to rise when the judge enters the room. Mr. Nam explains to them the punishments for not doing so, but our tenants aren’t so worried. They all agree to resist and not stand up when Judge Heo enters for they don’t have any faith or trust in the “justice” system. And so they’re determined to stay seated, but quickly turn back on their words when Judge Heo finally makes his way into the courtroom. Things aren’t off to a great start and he slips on the wet plastic wrap covering the carpet floor due to the water leakage. The trial hearing hasn’t even started yet.
Wusang and Judge Heo assumes the trial hearing will proceed just like all the other lawsuits filed against Babel, but Vincenzo and our team have plenty of tricks up their sleeves. The first one? Cha-young has trouble focusing and breathing and she faints. Everyone panics upon seeing her fall down onto the ground and Joon-woo even runs to her side. Neither Lawyer Choi or Mr. Han buy Cha-young’s fainting, but everyone else is unaware of her acting skills. This was one of the tactics that Vincenzo came up with in their last meeting to invalidate the trial to postpone it even further. Judge Heo addresses the situation with everyone and clarifies that they can’t postpone the trial due to the gravity of the lawsuit. They are to proceed with the hearing after the doctor checks up on Cha-young’s health condition which overrides Vincenzo and Cha-young’s first idea. With that, Cha-young immediately gets back up on her feet and she miraculously recovers. Since this tactic didn’t work, what do they go with next?
With Mr. Cho’s help, the electricity goes out in the courtroom and the stenographer is forced to use her laptop to work. While she steps out to grab her laptop, Cheol-wook and Yeon-jin unleash another distraction in the room: two deadly giant hornets. Panic ensues once again when everyone notices the giant hornets and they all rush out of the room in an attempt to escape. Lawyer Choi is well aware of what Vincenzo and Cha-young are attempting to do and she can’t help but grow frustrated at everyone crowding by the doors of the courtroom. So how exactly did Cheol-wook and Yeon-jin get access to the giant hornets? It turns out Cheol-wook’s uncle works with giant hornets and he was the one who gave the pair of insects to the couple. What was originally just a hornet drink that Cheol-wook shared with our Jipuragi team turned into something much bigger and better. Prior to the trial, the married couple mixed some honey and water together which Yeon-jin then splashed all over Judge Heo during her earlier encounter with him that day. With the sticky liquid all over him, he easily becomes a target for the giant hornet. The other target? Cheol-wook himself who accidentally got some sticky liquid near his butt cheeks on his pants. Lol.
And so Vincenzo and the team succeed in getting out of the trial. Half of Judge Heo’s face is swollen and he’s unable to talk so he’s forced to postpone the trial for another week. Vincenzo and Cha-young are content with the results and they show off to Mr. Han on the way out of the courtroom. Lawyer Choi expresses her disappointment with Cha-young for pulling off her stunts just to buy another week. It’s low and immature and childish of her to do such a thing, but Cha-young argues that Wusang and Babel are the same with the way they bribed Judge Heo. She also adds that she’s not fighting them because of justice; she’s doing it because they’re despicable. Cha-young struts down the stairs to reunite with Mr. Nam and Vincenzo. Our Geumga tenants cheer Cha-young on for her performance back in the courtroom and it’s clear everyone is happy with the results. Vincenzo is a busy bee and he declines some food with Cha-young for another commitment.
The Wusang team are frustrated with how the first trial hearing went. On the drive back to Wusang, Lawyer Choi feels like a loser and yells a bunch of profanity out the window while Mr. Han takes his anger out on Joon-woo. Oof, it must be rough being in that car. Vincenzo stops by the Hanju prison facility where Ms. Oh (AKA his mother) is stationed. Lawyer Hong used to visit her on the last Tuesday of every month as her public defender, but now that he’s no longer alive, Vincenzo has continued with the tradition. Or does he? When he finally meets with his mother again, he makes it clear to her that he will no longer be visiting her. It’s unfortunate that she has no husband, no children, no family, or no friends to help her after Lawyer Hong’s death. Vincenzo takes jabs at Ms. Oh for living such a pitiful life full of excuses which his mother doesn’t deny. Her life was full of excuses and it is just the way it is. She apologizes to Vincenzo for having lived such a life, but Vincenzo reminds her not to apologize to him. If anything, she should apologize to the people who truly need to hear it. So with that, he bids farewell with his mother, announcing his plans to eventually leave Korea and never return.
The visit leaves Vincenzo in shambles and he stops to smoke a cigarette. He’s reminded of the day when he was adopted by an Italian family. On that day, he cried his heart out and refused to believe that his mother had abandoned him. Fast forward to the present and that anger, sadness, and resentment inside of him is still there. He hasn’t forgotten or forgiven. Chef Toto serves two popular food bloggers at his restaurant that try to use their social media influence as a tactic to get free food. Chef Toto knows he deserves better and he’s unwilling to give them food for free. Moreover, he relays to Mr. An to not give them any freebies either. Just then, Mr. An receives a call by his boss, Mr. Tae, demanding that he return to the office as soon as possible. Mr. An cries while talking to his boss on the phone, but it’s not because he’s afraid of getting punished. It’s because he was cutting onions and touched his eyes, LOL.
While returning to Geumga Plaza, Vincenzo comes across Monk Jeokha carrying a huge cross all by himself. He stops to assist the monk along the way and learns that Monk Jeokha found it unused at a church that Babel E&C purchased not too long ago. After taking care of the cross, Vincenzo spends some time with Monk Jeokha and seeks some answers to his burning questions. What will it take for the anger inside of Vincenzo to disappear? Monk Jeokha emphasizes that Vincenzo will have to stand his ground and fight the anger inside of him. It doesn’t matter how many places Vincenzo travels to or where he lives; what matters is whether or not the anger is still inside of him. It’s only until he lets the anger go that he will achieve Enlightenment. Hmmmm, wise words and a beautiful scene!
Lawyer Choi assumes she’s 10 steps ahead of our Jipuragi team because of her plant that she wiretapped when she handed it over to Vincenzo and Cha-young as a gift during her visit. She and Mr. Han listen in on the live broadcast of the audio, but all they hear instead are a bunch of creepy and weird noises. The plant was then passed onto Larry and he practices his zombie acting skills while taking a good look at the plant. Lawyer Choi is tricked once again. Lol. The truth is, Vincenzo already knew that the plant was tapped the moment he saw it. He shares this detail with Cha-young and she’s impressed by his wise observations. Vincenzo also updates her on his plans to relocate the Geumga tenants to a nearby shopping district. When asked again whether he really needs to move forward with the plan, Vincenzo pauses for a few seconds before commenting that he does indeed. He wants to get things done as soon as possible so he can leave Korea. Just like the first time, Cha-young is disappointed in Vincenzo’s response as it’s obvious she wants him to stay (and I do too).
With the number of days with Vincenzo closing and their time together ticking, Cha-young gathers the courage to ask Vincenzo for another chance to hang out. She proposes that they grab some drinks together. Who said that their relationship had to be purely business-related? They can have drinks, hang out, and talk without thinking about work, right? When Mr. An returns to his workplace, he’s scolded by Mr. Tae for committing his own personal investigation on Vincenzo. But there’s a good reason Mr. An was called back into the office. Mr. Tae discovers that both Babel and Wusang have requested for background checks on Vincenzo and it’s making Mr. Tae a little bit more suspicious (so maybe Mr. An’s personal mission and investigation wasn’t such a bad idea after all?). Mr. Tae gives Mr. An the green light to continue with his mission as well as to use the company’s money to do so. And Mr. An gets to keep his job at Chef Toto’s restaurant!
Cha-young and Vincenzo have some fun at a bar restaurant. They’re both in a good mood and Cha-young can’t stop laughing over Judge Heo’s swollen face from earlier that day. She also thanks Vincenzo for visiting Ms. Oh in the prison. She feels as if it’s something she should have taken over since her father used to do it, but Vincenzo doesn’t think too much about it. His first visit that day would also be the last one. Vincenzo isn’t in the mood to talk about his mother so he switches the subject back to Geumga Plaza and reminds Cha-young that she was supposed to help him get the building back. Cha-young argues that she needs to know the reason why in order for her to come up with a grand plan. So after being promised that she wouldn’t tell anyone the secret, Vincenzo lets Cha-young in on his plan. He whispers next to her about the 1.5 tons of gold lying in its storage room within the basement which he’s trying to access. Cha-young is in pure disbelief upon hearing how much gold is hidden in the room, but she’s in even more disbelief at Vincenzo. She assumes he must be making some stuff up and accuses him of bluffing (“that must be his drinking habit!”). Cha-young doesn’t take Vincenzo seriously and she ends the drinking date with him on a lighthearted note. So much for helping Vincenzo out! Lol.
Vincenzo gets moving and hurries back to Geumga Plaza to test out an equipment that he requested from Mr. Cho. During their last meeting together, Vincenzo wanted a detector to test if the explosion system built within the building still work. If the system has malfunctioned and is turned off, they could dig into the ground without having to demolish the building. So with that, Vincenzo grabs the detector and sneaks into the temple while all the tenants remain occupied inside of Chef Toto’s restaurant. However, what Vincenzo isn’t aware of is the fact that he’s being followed by Mr. An. Mr. An comes close to getting caught a few times, but he luckily makes it out alive due to Vincenzo’s sense of urgency. And so Vincenzo gets on his knees and bends down to listen to the detector test the explosion system. The room is hot because of the electric pads and a drop of sweat from his forehead falls to the detector, causing him to get shocked as a result. As Vincenzo groans in pain, Mr. An watches from outside the hallway and assumes Vincenzo is praying based off of his body language. He assumes Vincenzo must be crying tears of repentance and any suspicions he had about Vincenzo is eliminated. As for Vincenzo? The explosion system is working just fine.
Our Geumga tenants celebrate their trial’s victory by gathering at Chef Toto’s restaurant. They recount the incident with the giant hornets and Monk Chaeshin also updates everyone on Mr. Lee’s condition. It seems as if things are going well. Even when talks about relocation are brought up, the tenants remain in unison about moving into the shopping district that Vincenzo plans on purchasing for them. Things are looking great for our tenants but it doesn’t last for too long. A homeless man enters the plaza and creeps up at the entrance of the restaurant. Everyone freaks out upon seeing the man, but they’re all in a good mood and they invite him inside regardless. The man strikes up a deal with our tenants that they end up accepting: in exchange for some food, he’ll give them all some very important information. Though Chef Toto feels as if he’s seen the man before, he doesn’t raise too many questions.
Mr. An prepares to write up a report on Vincenzo based off of his investigation and discoveries. However, he doesn’t feel as if he has enough evidence just yet and commits to doing more research. It’s another regular day of work for Mr. Nam, but it hits different for the rest of the Geumga tenants. He finds them all standing outside in a straight line, staring right at the plaza. It’s as if they’re afraid to enter the building and he doesn’t know why. The group has to mentally prepare themselves before finally moving and walking towards the plaza, lol. Joon-woo, Lawyer Choi, and Mr. Han all do some additional research on Vincenzo, but they only find positive information and photos about him. He’s a human rights lawyer, celebrity, and philanthropist in one back in Milan so they don’t have a lot to go off of. Just then, Mr. Han receives a phone call from Han-seo.
Cha-young and Vincenzo hold a meeting with the family members of the victims and notify them about testifying as witnesses for the second trial. The five family members are a bit hesitant and worried given just how powerful and smart Wusang is, but Vincenzo reassures them that they’ll be as prepared as possible going into the trial. Vincenzo is confident they’ll win the trial if their witnesses testify well. It also works out that Babel won’t be able to bribe or buy off their witnesses because of how much they’re despised by the witnesses. So what is Vincenzo, Cha-young, and Mr. Nam’s next step then? They’ll do what Babel and Wusang are great at and provoke Babel’s witnesses. This should be interesting.
Han-seo calls Mr. Han and Lawyer Choi into an emergency meeting with Joon-woo. On the drive there, Mr. Han acts as he usually does and he continually picks on Joon-woo. Joon-woo is in a happy mood in the car though and there’s a reason for that. In the conference room, Han-seo, Lawyer Choi, and Mr. Han stay seated at one end of the table while Joon-woo stands on the other end. He has a PowerPoint presentation prepared and goes through it one detail at a time. He reveals how the former Chairman of Babel has two sons: his eldest son with his wife and his second son from an affair with his secretary. The second son is Han-seo that everyone acknowledges as the Chairman of Babel. But as Joon-woo will explain and reveal, Han-seo is not the chairman of Babel. The reason for that being is.. well, he’s the eldest son which means he’s the real Chairman of Babel.
Lawyer Choi and Mr. Han are stunned by the unexpected revelation and they’re at a loss for words. It’s the plot twist that neither of them saw coming, but they quickly adjust and shift their attitude towards Joon-woo. Mr. Han is no longer the mean and disrespectful guy that he was and Lawyer Choi learns to bow her head at the former intern. Joon-woo is having too much fun and only wants to ramp things up even more. He demonstrates his willingness to work with Lawyer Choi by offering her two things: the prosecution service that she initially proposed to Han-seo that she wanted to buy and two, the idea to kill off Vincenzo if they find it too difficult to defeat him in court. Outraged, Lawyer Choi comes up with a completely different plan that night. Her group of men locate the treasurer of the victims’ group fighting against Babel E&C (so basically Cha-young and Vincenzo’s witnesses) and make it seem as if they were embezzling money by hiding stacks of money in their office. Director Gil of the Haemun Medical Center is also in on the plan and he drugs Mr. Lee at the hospital without anyone’s knowledge. News articles from Daechang Daily accusing the group of embezzling donations are released and Cha-young wakes up to this story the next morning. She’s definitely not happy.
Cha-young and Vincenzo rush over to the police station where their witnesses remain afraid and frustrated. They had nothing to do with the accusations made against them, but they can’t do much since the treasurer of the group has confessed to the embezzling (albeit being coerced by Wusang to do so). Our power couple are stuck in a rut for now and they realize that they might have to proceed with the trial without their witnesses. It won’t do any good either way since Lawyer Choi will most likely continue to prey on them. Their only hope then is Mr. Lee, but even he is ruled out when he’s found with small traces of meth after being tested for drugs. Cha-young and Vincenzo are in pure disbelief by the update from Mr. Nam and it seems as if things can’t get any worse. Except it does.
Joon-woo finds the duo standing in the hallway and he chats with them for a bit. He encourages and urges Cha-young to return to Wusang. It’s a message from the chairman himself, but Cha-young refuses to budge. She won’t do so, so they should just give up any hopes of her return. She also discourages him from “worrying” about her and reminds him to stay in his place and to just focus on himself. While Cha-young leaves first, Vincenzo stays behind to have a brief talk alone with Joon-woo. He warns the Italian lawyer on how they’re digging themselves into a grave and how he would hate to see Cha-young get buried. If they both are smart enough, they would know to stop and back off from fighting Babel. Vincenzo isn’t afraid with Joon-woo’s taunts; they are indeed digging a grave but it’s not for them. Plus, Vincenzo and Cha-young are smart enough to realize not to walk away when they know their opponents are weak.
Frustrated and furious at how things are turning out, Cha-young decides to go on a walk to blow off some steam. She leaves Vincenzo behind to get back to Geumga by himself. Fast forward to five days and it’s time for the second trial hearing. Joon-woo, Lawyer Choi, Mr. Han, and Han-seo are there as well as a bee expert that Judge Heo has brought in just in case of another incident. LOL. He looks and feels much better when he enters the courtroom and they all proceed with the second hearing. Just like on the first day, Lawyer Choi argues that the Babel Chemical employees were reckless and careless with their health. They failed to follow the instructions and work protocols provided by Babel Chemicals and it also doesn’t help that the workers smoke and drank often as testified by Director Gil.
Moving onto Cha-young, all of her witnesses has been rejected from testifying and Judge Heo assumes she has no one as a witness. But Cha-young does and she announces that she has a surprise witness. Everyone is confused and shocked by her sudden announcement and everyone’s eyes dart towards the back of the room where the surprise witness waits. When the doors fling open, we find Vincenzo standing right next to a detective. The shock and confusion in people’s faces are extended upon Vincenzo’s appearance while Cha-young watches him proudly with a sly smirk on her face. Vincenzo makes sure to acknowledge Mr. Han on the way to the front of the court room and he also pays some attention to Cha-young before fully focusing his attention on Judge Heo.
Cha-young and Vincenzo know what they’re doing, and the fight isn’t over yet. It’s just merely begun.

Vincenzo Episode 6
Woosung Law Firm’s primary partner Lawyer Han Seung Hyeok and senior partner Lawyer Choi Myung Hee meet with the judge. Recall Lawyer Choi used to be an assistant prosecutor. Lawyer Han promises to discretely fund him in exchange for his support. They don’t know one of the Geumga Plaza previously bumped into him splashing him with water.
In the leading courtroom, Lawyer Han, Lawyer Choi and newest partner Jang Joon Woo (TaecYeon) note Babel Group’s construction isn’t stellar quality.
At the plaintiff’s table, Jipuragi Law Firm Lawyer Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin) psyches herself up. From the gallery, Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong Ki) notices she’s nervous. The Geumga Plaza tenants are all in attendance.
The judges enter the courtroom unimpressed at the dripping ceiling and walls.
Lawyer Choi makes her opening statement for Babel Group. Cha Young struggles to stand admitting she has a panic disorder. She requests to take her medicine. The judge allows it. Cha Young faints to the ground.
Flashback…Vincenzo advises Cha Young to remove herself from the equation.
Instead of postponing the trial, the judge declares they’ll press on this afternoon.
Knowing that was a possibility, Cha Young pops up. Joon Woo guesses this was strategy. Lawyer Choi chides him stating this was part of her act. Vincenzo cuts the lights.
Flashback….Vincenzo states cutting power is standard practice to end the game.
Even without lights, the judge decides to press on.
Flashback…Vincenzo says the last resort is to create chaos.
Cha Young nods to the tenants. She begins her opening statement. The tenants release bees in the courtroom. Panic ensues. Everyone flees the courtroom. Lawyer Choi realizes Vincenzo planned this when she sees his smile.
Flashback…Cha Young wonders how to teach the judge a lesson. A tenant brings them hornet drink. Vincenzo is inspired. Two tenants go to get bees. The next day at the courtroom, the water is mixed with honey and spilled on the judge.
The bees sting the judge and the tenant who wiped honey on himself.
Later that day, judge returns to the courtroom, face swollen. The courtroom is called to order. The judge states he can’t continue the trial and defers it for a week. He faints. The courtroom clears. Lawyer Choi can’t believe it. The Woosung Law Firm team stare at Vincenzo and Cha Young as they walk away.
On the courtroom steps, Lawyer Choi tells Cha Young she messed with the sanctity of the courtroom. Cha Young counters that Babel Group and Woosung Law Firm bribed the judge so there isn’t sanctity to be had. She tells Lawyer Choi Woosung Law Firm deserve it.
The tenants smile and wave to the Jipuragi Law Firm team. Vincenzo and Cha Young are pleased their plans created the delay the needed to properly prepare for the trial. Recall they just got the case the previous day. Vincenzo tells Cha Young has someplace to go and declines to eat with Mr. Nam and Cha Young. Mr. Nam wonders if Vincenzo is heading where he thinks because it is Tuesday.
Lawyer Han bemoans what happened in the courtroom. Lawyer Choi isn’t happy either. She notes they lost this battle.
Vincenzo goes to the prison.
Flashback…Mr. Nam wonders who will visit the murdered Lawyer Hong’s client on the last Tuesday of the month.
His mother enters the visitation room. She says she’s doing better with the pain. She thanks him for coming. Vincenzo says this will be her last visit from Jipuragi Law Firm. His mother says she has no friends or relatives to visit. She says there is no husband. She says she has no children. Vincenzo says it is too bad she has no family. Vincenzo asks how she lived life without family and friends. She shrugs that life doesn’t always go well. She apologizes for living life like she has. Vincenzo stands to leave. She asks if they’ll ever meet again. Vincenzo says he’s leaving Korea, this isn’t his country anymore. His mother looks into his eyes and wishes him well and goodbye. Vincenzo leaves. She cries.
As he walks away, a young Vincenzo pauses to deal with his emotions. He takes out a cigarette and lights it.
Flashback…At the orphanage, Vincenzo is adopted by an Italian family. He doesn’t understand what they are saying in Italian. He cries to the nun that his mother promised to come back for him. He wants to wait for her. He pulls his hands away from the couple.
Tears fill Vincenzo’s eyes at the painful memories.
Tears fill Agent An Ki Seok’s eyes as he cuts onions for the fake Italian chef. Director Tae Jong Gu (International Crime Response Agency) (Agent An’s boss) calls and tells him to come to the office.
When Vincenzo arrives at Geumga Plaza Building he sees the monk carrying a cross. The monk says he’ll donate it to a local church. He asks Vincenzo is he’s like to help carry the cross. Vincenzo agrees. Afterwards, Vincenzo asks if he leaves Korea will his anger disappear. The monk says location doesn’t matter. Vincenzo asks if he needs to get rid of it. The monk agrees, fight, and defeat the anger is the solution. Vincenzo sighs.
Lawyer Choi tells Lawyer Han that Jipuragi Law Firm will never outwit her. She asks for help from the tech team. Turns out she planted a bug in the plant she gifted Cha Young when she visited the office. Lawyer Han and Lawyer Choi listen in. The plant has been gifted to a tenant.
Vincenzo tells Cha Young is past experience tipped him that Lawyer Choi had planted a bug in the plant. Vincenzo informs her he’s looking for a new building for the tenants. He wants to wrap things up and leave Korea. Vincenzo leaves after observing Mr. Nam’s outfit for his second blind date. Cha Young suggests they have a drink together.
Director Tae isn’t happy to learn Agent An has been working undercover at Geumga Plaza Building. Director Tae tells him that Woosung Law Firm and Babel Group have requested background checks on Vincenzo. Agent An tells Director Tae he’ll respond to the requests. He’s grateful with Director Tae allows him to charge directly.
At the bar, Cha Young shares stories and laughs. She asks if Vincenzo visited the falsely accused client of her fathers. Vincenzo confirms it. She thanks him. Vincenzo says he told the client Jipuragi Law Firm won’t be visiting again. He wants to discuss prying Geumga Plaza Building from Babel Group. Cha Young wants to know why he wants the building so badly. He swears her to secrecy. He tells her there is gold underneath the building. She’s stunned at the value of the gold. She tells him she’s got gold under her house too. She laughs. Vincenzo can’t believe she thinks he’s lying because he’s drunk. She strides away to pay the bill.
Mr. Cho calls Vincenzo to inform in the requested equipment has been dropped off at his apartment. Vincenzo looks at the equipment to detect if the alarm system is still functional.
Vincenzo heads to the basement. Agent An follows. Inside the temple in the basement, Vincenzo uses the detector. Agent An watches and believes that Vincenzo is praying. When the equipment sparks zapping Vincenzo, he puts his hands out in pain. Agent An watches and believes that Vincenzo is imploring the gods. Vincenzo realizes the alarm system is functional.
At the tenant dinner, the associate monk thanks everyone for their support of his friend who was a researcher at Babel Group Chemical. They celebrate the first day of the trial. They wonder if they’ll have to move out soon. They learn Vincenzo is looking for a new building for them and will pay the relocation costs. A homeless man stops by and says he has information they need to know.
Agent An considers what to say in response to the inquiry about Vincenzo from Babel Group and Woosung Law Firm. He decides he needs more time for his response.
The next morning the tenants observe the Geumga Plaza Building under the guidance of the monk.
Joon Woo reviews the glowing report on Vincenzo. He sneers that no is that perfect.
Lawyer Han and Lawyer Choi can’t believe that Vincenzo is that wonderful. Chairman Jang calls Lawyer Han and asks to meet.
Cha Young, Vincenzo, and Mr. Nam prep the test subjects with the questions they’ll be asked at trial.
Lawyer Han, Lawyer Choi, and Joon Woo drive to Chairman Jang’s.
Vincenzo, Cha Young, and Mr. Nam agree that the hospital doctor, funded by Babel Group, won’t be positive testimony for them. A reliable doctor needs to be found. Mr. Nam hasn’t had any success finding one. Vincenzo suggests they provoke Babel Group’s witnesses in the same manner Babel Group provokes their witnesses.
Joon Woo briefs Chairman Jang, Lawyer Choi, and Lawyer Han. He reveals Chairman Jang was the son by a secretary. He asks who is the elder son by the mother. He reveals he is the legitimate first son. He declares he’s the real owner of Babel Group. Lawyer Han and Lawyer Choi are surprised. Chairman Jang feigns happiness. Lawyer Han and Lawyer Choi can only join in. Lawyer Han apologizes for his mistreatment of Joon Woo when he was an intern. Joon Woo says it is forgotten. Chairman Jang asks them to respect Joon Woo as the rightful chairman. Lawyer Choi agrees. Joon Woo offers to help even the score with her former prosecutor group. Joon Woo notes Woosung Law Firm’s response to today’s court antics were subpar. Lawyer Choi says it was a one-time event. Joon Woo reveals Vincenzo blew up the warehouse. If they can’t beat Vincenzo in court, then they’ll have to kill him just like Mr. Hong and the other researchers. Lawyer Choi promises they’ll get the job done. Joon Woo tells them to take care of his brother too. He leaves. Chairman Jang smiles. Lawyer Choi isn’t happy.
At the office, Lawyer Choi has a temper tantrum. She can’t stand being bested by Jipuragi Law Firm. She decides a new strategy is needed.
She hires thugs to plant money in the victim’s treasurer’s office. She has the doctor inject drugs in the researcher (assistant monk’s friend) in the hospital. She instructs the newspaper to report the falsehoods in the morning news.
The next morning, Mr. Nam calls Cha Young upset about the news report. Cha Young watches and learns the victim’s treasurer supposedly embezzled funds.
Cha Young and Vincenzo arrive at the police office. The victims are there and upset. She asks the detective what proof the police have about the embezzling. He shows them photos and point to the victim’s treasurer who has confessed to embezzling. The victims state the treasure is being coerced and they are being falsely accused. Vincenzo and Cha Young wonder how to fix this mess. Cha Young can’t believe that Lawyer Choi’s evidence is believed so easily. Vincenzo notes if a powerful person lies, it has more power. Cha Young notes with their reputation in tatters, they are no longer viable witnesses. All their hopes lie with the researcher in the hospital. Cha Young gets a call from Mr. Nam who reports that no only did the court deny the victims as witnesses but also the researcher in the hospital who tested positive for drugs. Vincenzo and Cha Young know Lawyer Choi pulled all these strings. Cha Young says she’s like the mafia. Joon Woo approaches and asks Cha Young to return to Woosung Law Firm. Cha Young refuses. Joon Woo says Vincenzo is a mad influence. Cha Young tells him to mind his own business. She walks away.
Joon Woo warns Vincenzo not to dig your own grave. Vincenzo responds they are digging Babel Group’s grave. Joon Woo doesn’t like that. Vincenzo walks away.
Cha Young is frustrated by the situation. She tells Vincenzo she’s going to walk off her anger and decide what she can say when the trial begins in 5 days.
Courtroom…5 days later…Lawyer Choi gloats that Jipuragi Law Firm has no witnesses to call. Lawyer Choi tells Joon Woo the hospital director will put an end to the complaint today. Joon Woo is pleased. The judge enters relieved to see a bee keeper in the courtroom. As predicted the hospital director claims the victims were not affected as claimed. The judge asks for Cha Young’s witnesses. She announces she has a surprise witness. The judge allows the witness. The court door opens. A man is brought in by the police…it is Vincenzo! He strides down the aisle with the detective by his side. Vincenzo smiles at the Woosung Law Firm team. Cha Young announces Vincenzo is her surprise witness. Vincenzo smiles at the judge.
My Thoughts
Team Evil eliminates Team Good’s witnesses. Writer Park Jae Bum had Joon Woo reveal that he is the legitimate first son and Chairman Jang is the illegitimate second son and figurehead Chairman. Lawyer Han quickly fawned over Joon Woo. Lawyer Choi wasn’t happy when Joon Woo observed Jipuragi Law Firm’s easy dismantled her in court. As expected, Lawyer Choi was angered and determined to mitigate Jipuragi Law Firm’s case. She eliminated all witnesses by threats, planting money, injecting drugs into a witness, and false news reports to spread her lies. Cha Young was upset to have her case implode. But at the end of the episode, Vincenzo appeared as the surprise witness. What will he testify to in this case?
Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong Ki) visited his mother in prison. With Mr. Hong dead, Vincenzo decided to visit his mother in prison for the monthly appointment that Mr. Hong would have kept. He informed his mother that Jipuragi Law Firm would no longer help her. He stated he would be leaving Korea shortly. She took it stoically but cried after he left. That implies she knows Vincenzo is her son doesn’t it? While Joon Woo didn’t reveal his real identity to Cha Young and Vincenzo, he increased his posturing around Vincenzo. He threatened Vincenzo and Cha Young. Vincenzo countered with coolness about what Joon Woo should learn. I look forward to Joon Woo’s position and power being known by Vincenzo and Cha Young. I was relieved that the listening device Lawyer Choi put in the plant she left at Jipuragi Law Firm was assumed and neutralized. Vincenzo was surprised when Cha Young laughed in his face after he revealed the gold under Geumga Plaza Building. She thought he was joking. I was surprised Vincenzo told her about the gold. What does that signify?
Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin) had her witnesses negated by Lawyer Choi. The positioning between Lawyer Choi and Cha Young (with Vincenzo’s help) and disdain between the two women only enhances the anticipation of the courtroom battle. Cha Young doesn’t see Joon Woo as a threat nor does she get drawn into his web. Obviously Joon Woo wants to control her but Vincenzo is in the driver’s seat and it rankles Joon Woo. Cha Young continues to suggest that Vincenzo could stay in Korea, but he’s not interested…yet.
I rank this episode as very good, 8 on a 10-point scale.

‘Vincenzo’ Episode 6: Review, Recap & Reactions
Vincenzo episode 6 pulls back a bit from the Babel & Wusang ordeal to shed some light on the other interesting stories and characters that the show had been forgetting to address lately. We ended the previous episode with Cha-young and Vincenzo’s stylish entrance into the courtroom, but they have something else in mind to buy them some time.
What plan do they have to postpone the trial from continuing? What will happen when Vincenzo visits his mother in jail? Does Babel have any tricks up their sleeves?

Vincenzo Episode 6 Review & Recap

This episode was in a word: decent. I didn’t mind the fact that the show took a step back from the Babel plot to dabble a bit on the other stories they set-up a while back, but it does highlight one of the k-drama’s weaknesses: its 20-episode run. While I was watching tonight’s episode, I couldn’t help but wonder how the writers are going to stretch the entire thing into 14 more episodes.
It feels like we’re already nearing the climax of the k-drama because they blew their load too early on so many things and reveals. I don’t know how long they can keep the Babel plot going without it feeling like it’s dragging. We already got a bait-and-switch on Vincenzo episode 6 (the postponement of the trial) that made certain scenes feel redundant because you know it’s not gonna matter a lot in the long run.
But I suppose the problem of “is 20 episodes too many” is something only the future version of myself should worry about, because I am enjoying the ride we are in so far.

Our first awesome scene of the episode came pretty early with Vincenzo and Cha-young executing a complicated plan to have the trial postponed. First, Cha-young tried to use her acting skills to good use by pretending to collapse from anxiety which didn’t work. Next, they shut down the electricity in the courtroom which caused some chaos… but it wasn’t enough.
Because this is a k-drama after all, they had to go to a ridiculous extent to get the job done. It involved releasing hornets hidden inside Beanie Guy’s jacket and making sure they bit the judge’s face off. It worked!
Ms. Choi knew what they were trying to do and was thoroughly unentertained by it. You can’t say she was unbothered though, because we got a pretty nice scene where she went off about how “low” the Jipuragi Law Firm would go to postpone the trial. Cha-young’s reactions was to gloat in front of her, which is always welcome after what they did to her father.
While this sequence was awesome and hilarious to watch unfold, I wish they had done the whole thing in a less absurd way. I get that Vincenzo is a comedy, but the whole plan just didn’t scream “mafia” or “badass” to me.

We picked up the Babel storyline at the end of the episode where we get to The Real Courtroom Showdown. Things were a bit different this time around because Wusang Law Firm is showing why they’re the players to beat in this game. They managed to discredit the witnesses the Jipuragi Law Firm was planning to put on stand — the families of Babel’s victims, and the pharmaceutical researcher U-yeong.
Honestly, but I’m so glad Ms. Choi did that. Wusang Law Firm has been looking like a weak villain ever since they killed Yu-Chan. Having Vincenzo not expect their next step was a welcome change.
There was also a major shake-up within the Babel-Wusang team in Vincenzo episode 6 when Joon-woo officially revealed himself as the real chairman to Ms. Choi and Her Partner in Glasses (Han Seung-hyeok). If you read my real-time reactions to this scene below, you’ll see that I was pretty shocked that he revealed it to them so soon. I was expecting a bit more build-up to it because it is a big deal.
This is an example of what I was saying earlier about how Vincenzo blowing its load too early: it was a huge moment, but it was given to us early. We sure hope that more shockers and bangers await us throughout the series to justify this fast pace!
Joon-woo showed a bit of his true colors to both Cha-young and Vincenzo when he tried to convince them to stop going against Babel. I actually thought they were already going to figure out that the happy-go-lucky ex-intern from New York wasn’t as innocent as everybody thought he was.
But the slight tease of the upcoming showdown between Joon-woo and Vincenzo was a thrill to watch.
Personally, watching that scene (as well as the spicy food contest in the previous episode) made me want Vincenzo to discover Joon-woo’s true identity sooner because that feud is going to be extremely fun to watch. Maybe even more fun than Ms. Choi vs. Cha-young!

Vincenzo also got to work on his side quests in this episode. He visited his estranged mother in prison because Hong Yu-chan had done so every month, so he filled in his shoes this time. The most shocking part of that conversation was when the mother told Vincenzo that she had no one in her life. No friends or family.

Obviously, Vincenzo was disappointed (but not surprised) by what she said. And what was more saddening was that he only came with the intention of telling her that nobody was going to visit her anymore. Very cold of him! We did get a vague explanation of why he acted that way through a flashback: his mother had apparently abandoned him in a church when he was a boy.
After the prison visit, a wild Vulnerable Vincenzo appeared. We hadn’t seen him since he had drunk with Yu-chan and his mother was brought up in the conversation. At least we know what his Achilles heel is.

And if you’re wondering, the gold in Geumga Plaza is still a thing. Apparently, Vincenzo had been asking help from Mr. Cho about it. I just remembered while typing it out: did we ever find out who was behind the truck that hit him in the first episode?
Anyway, this led to a pretty funny scene where Vincenzo gets electrocuted while checking if the gold is still underneath the monk’s temple. Little did he know that An Ki-seok — the police officer acting as Chef Toto’s student — had been watching him only to think that he was repenting to Buddha. Aside from his funny soliloquies, it seems like he’s going to play a more important role in the near future.
Babel and Wusang had been asking some questions about Vincenzo from the Crime Response Agency so I imagine he’s going to be tied up to the main storyline sometime. Although, he seems to be getting attached to the building tenants who are becoming increasingly trustworthy of Vincenzo. Is it going to be a conflict of interest soon?

Our last major reveal revolved around the gold: Vincenzo finally tells Cha-young why he’s really in Korea. Obviously, Cha-young just made fun of him for it because who would believe that there’s a 150 billion-won worth of gold hiding in the basement of Geumga Plaza?
Aside from that, they didn’t have a lot of moments together in this episode since many things were going on that didn’t necessarily involve our favorite female lead. I admit I did enjoy the scene where Cha-young kinda-hints-kinda-doesn’t that she wants Vincenzo to stay in Korea. It made me think that there might be some romantic chemistry between them… and then Joon-woo has that one hallway scene with Cha-young that makes me go “now that’s chemistry”.
And that’s pretty much it for this episode! The past two episodes have not been close to topping the goodness that was episode 4, but it’s okay. I’m just glad that we were able to get some progression for multiple storylines. Next week, Vincenzo takes to the stand as the “surprise witness” for the #BabelExposedParty.

The Geumga Plaza tenants are still putting on their anti-Babel performance art piece outside. Inside the courthouse, Yeon-jin runs into a gentleman, spilling her drink all over his suit. The man meets with the Wusang attorneys before the trial — he’s the judge for the trial, and they reiterate their mutual cooperation.
…but maybe you should have cleaned that suit better…
Water is leaking from the ceiling and walls of the courtroom. Wusang comments on the shoddy craftsmanship of the building. Jun-woo notes that it was Babel’s predecessor, Haemun E&C, that had constructed it, and Babel would have done a better job. In protest of the trial, the Geumga Gang(tm) agree not to rise when the judge enters but chicken out when the moment arrives. The room is so flooded the judge slips on a puddle on the floor, but the trial proceeds.
We alternate between flashbacks of the Jipuragi strategy session, and scenes in the courtroom. The trial is likened to a rigged gambling hall:
Step 1: Remove the dealer from the table. Cha-young appears to have a panic attack and collapses. The judge thinks the trial is too important to postpone, so he will check on her condition after recess. Jun-woo rushes across the aisle, but she pops right back up. Attorney Choi gives him grief for falling for it.
Step 2: Black out the entire gambling house. The lights go out, courtesy of Mr. Cho. The attendees complain they can’t hear the judge without a microphone, and Cha-young says it’s too dark for the stenographer to take notes. The judge asks her to go get a laptop, insisting that only core matters need to be recorded.
Step 3: Kick everyone else out and create chaos. The pawn shop couple let a couple of giant hornets out of their jackets. Chaos ensues and everyone tries to evacuate, but the judge orders them to stay put.
Remember that drink Yeon-jin spilled on the judge? It was honey water, and a hornet makes a (teehee) beeline for his face. He suffers an allergic reaction from the sting and is finally forced to adjourn. Cha-young and Attorney Han trade looks as they exit the courtroom.
Outside, Attorney Choi accuses Cha-young of insulting the court to buy a week. She counters they are all in the same boat because Wusang and Babel were colluding with the judge. Choi can’t argue with that and Cha-young prances off. Vincenzo has an errand and passes up a team breakfast.
Wusang crew is pretty miffed at this turn of events. Han takes his frustrations out on the back of Jun-woo’s seat. When Choi remarks they are supposed to be good at playing dirty, Han calls themselves strategic. She doesn’t appreciate the double standard. She rolls down the window and curses at a truck honking in the adjacent lane.
Yu-chan usually visits Gyeong-ja on the last Tuesday of every month, but Vincenzo goes in his stead. She looks relieved to see him, but he’s only there to let her know no one will be coming anymore. He probes her for information and learns she has no husband or children. He cruelly asks what kind of life she led and accuses her of being full of excuses. When she apologizes, he tells her to spend the rest of her life thinking about the people she should really be sorry to. He’s leaving Korea, and she’ll never see him again. She sheds a few tears as he walks away — does she know who he is?
He caves to his need for a cigarette and tearfully recalls being given up for adoption. As a child named Ju-hyeong, he had been left at a church to wait for his mother to return. When she didn’t, he was adopted by an Italian couple.
Meanwhile, an influencer couple that had been at the Sicilian-style wine party want Chef Baek to comp their meal in exchange for a good word on their social media profile. They don’t really think his food is that special, but he encourages them to give the food a real try. Agent Ahn, chopping onions in the back, gets a call from Agent Tae; there’s an emergency at work.
Vincenzo is returning from the women’s prison when he sees the monk dragging a cross down the street. He’d rescued it from an abandoned church and is donating it to Geumga church. He asks for Vincenzo’s help carrying it (symbolism much?) and he reluctantly agrees. Afterward, Vincenzo asks the monk if his anger will go away if he lives on an island in the middle of the ocean. The monk replies that the best way to get rid of his anger is to confront it head on.
It’s not fair to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me. You, you, you oughta know.
At Wusang, Han wonders if they should have Cha-young and Vincenzo tailed but, sure enough, the plant Choi hand-delivered to Jipuragi is already embedded with a listening device. Too bad Vincenzo was onto this plan, and the plant has been relocated to Larry’s dance studio. Choi and Han are treated to a cacophony of zombie noises.
Back at Jipuragi, Vincenzo explains that, because the succulent only needs to be watered once a month at most, it’s perfect for spying. He tries to play it off when she calls him a surveillance expert and changes the topic: Mr. Nam is helping him shop for a new building for the Geumga Gang.
Sure. Doesn’t everyone have a preferred plant for spying on their friends?
Vincenzo is eager to leave Korea, and Cha-young seems disappointed. She looks like she wants to ask him something when they are interrupted by an upbeat Mr. Nam, who is all glammed up for a second date. But she is persistent, and runs out to the hallway to ask him out for a drink. She just wants to build some good working rapport, that’s all.
Agent Tae scolds Agent Ahn for his bootleg undercover operation, but separate inquiries from Babel and Wusang on Vincenzo have finally raised some red flags. He is now allowed to file expenses for this mission — he’s got student loans and mom’s hospital bills, after all — and while he hasn’t seen anything out of the ordinary, he’ll reply to the queries himself.
At the cocktail bar, Cha-young is still on a high from the day’s events. She thanks Vincenzo for visiting Gyeong-ja on her father’s behalf, but he discourages her from continuing to take responsibility for her. He wants her to work on Geumga Plaza instead, and she says she can’t help him unless she knows why. He really tells her, but she thinks the gold bars are a bluff. Guess what? She also has 100 golden calves under her house. So much for trust…
Vincenzo’s #1 pet peeve
While she pays, Vincenzo gets a call from Mr. Cho about some equipment he requested. He’s looking for a way to retrieve the gold without causing serious damage to the building. Maybe the security system rigged to collapse the building has been disabled, and all he’ll have to do is dig down under the temple?
While the Geumga Gang are having a meal at Chef Baek’s, Vincenzo sneaks down to the temple with a voltmeter. Agent Ahn, not the sneakiest agent around, injures himself trying to avoid detection. Vincenzo stops to investigate, but decides he’s short on time and hurries to the temple.
The room is very warm and a droplet of sweat lands on the voltmeter, electrocuting him in the face. Agent Ahn is back, peeking through the glass door as Vincenzo is crouched on the floor in pain, and he thinks he’s repenting. Vincenzo punches the floor in frustration; the device is still in perfect working order.
Mission: Impossible vibes.
Back at Chef Baek’s restaurant, everyone is taking turns complimenting each other on their contributions to the courtroom sabotage. Cheol-wook also relays a message from Mr. Nam: Vincenzo is buying them a new mall. The tenants unanimously agree to move as Vincenzo requested. Just then, a familiar-looking homeless man enters. He has information that can change their lives.
Later that night, Agent Ahn begins typing up his report: Vincenzo Cassano, handsome consigliere. Then he recalls his repentant behavior in the Buddhist temple and decides to give it a few more days.
What did that homeless interloper tell them?
The next morning the tenants appear to be bidding their building farewell, construction cranes looming in the distance. Mr. Nam wonders what’s gotten into them. Jun-woo and Attorneys Han and Choi separately review the background report on Vincenzo, but he’s still squeaky clean. Perfetto. Chairman Jang calls them all in ASAP for a briefing.
The plaintiffs are all called into Jipuragi’s office to discuss testimony. On the way to Babel’s offices, Jun-woo is in such a spirited mood that Attorney Han’s insults can’t get him down. It seems the Jipuragi trio have convinced their plaintiffs to testify, leading Vincenzo to increase the odds of victory to 40%. They can’t find a doctor to support their case, so they’ll need to find someone else: the enemy of an enemy, is a friend.
The trio head to Babel’s offices where Jun-woo gives the “briefing”: a space movie-esque trailer on the history of the Jang family. His father had two sons, and the man known as Chairman Jang is the younger, illegitimate child of the elder Jang. So who is the older, real owner of Babel?
It’s me. Jang Jun-woo.
When it finally hits Han, he begins apologizing profusely, but Jun-woo tells him to act normal. Attorney Choi is visibly irked at Attorney Han’s pandering while maintaining her cool. As for her, Jun-woo teases her with the possibility of buying the Namdongbu prosecutors’ office before expressing his disappointment in her court performance. Her nickname is The Butcher, so why not just off Vincenzo the way she did Yu-chan and Min-chul? Back in her office, she formulates an emergency 5-hour plan.
Overnight, the treasurer of the group for Babel E&C’s victims is knocked out by masked men and cash is planted all over their office, cars, and homes. A doctor goes to Lee U-yeong’s hospital room and injects a substance into his IV. In the morning, Cha-young learns that all of the plaintiffs have been arrested. It’s all over the news: the treasurer has confessed to helping them embezzle funds donated to the Babel victims. Even worse, traces of drugs have been found in U-yeong’s system, so his testimony is also inadmissible. This is beyond mafia-level meddling.
Jun-woo is at the police station for a briefing and “checks up” on Cha-young and Vincenzo. He invites Cha-young back to Wusang; she’ll get the same treatment as Attorney Choi from now on, and her skills are wasted at Jipuragi. When she turns him down, he grabs her arm insistently. He doesn’t appreciate her working with Vincenzo. She walks off, and he and Vincenzo spar. The bosses are officially meeting for the first time, whether they know it or not:
Jun-woo: I don’t want her to be six feet under. And I don’t appreciate you digging it for her… those who are smart know when to give up. Vincenzo: Two things. First, we are digging a grave. But it’s not for us. Second, it’s not about knowing when to give up. A smart person knows when their opponent is weak.
Vincenzo smirks as he gives Jun-woo a condescending pat on the shoulder. Outside, Vincenzo tells Cha-young, “One is easily humiliated when cornered.” When she asks for some encouraging words, he repeats his quote about giving up a hopeless war and getting a new opportunity. Cha-young walks off dejected.
Five days pass and the second hearing is held. A still-forlorn Cha-young sits at the plaintiff’s table. Vincenzo and the Geumga Gang are missing though, notably, Chairman Jang is sitting on the plaintiff’s side of the courtroom.
Is the marionette ready to cut off its strings?
Cha-young calls her surprise witness to the stand… it’s Vincenzo, being released from handcuffs.

I. Loved. That reveal. I was worried the writers wouldn’t be able to reconcile Jun-woo’s clueless intern facade with the more hot-tempered and calculated Babel owner, but this may be my favorite portrayal of a villain yet. The way he rushed to Cha-young’s side when she collapsed was so warm and pure, you forget that he is also a volatile, power-hungry control freak.
In the episode 5 recap I mentioned that I was a little worried for her, but now I am a lot worried for her. After all, Jun-woo more or less asked Attorney Choi to put a hit on Vincenzo at that “briefing.” Meanwhile, Cha-young has been pretty adamant about not backing down from the case, and getting chummier with Vincenzo on top of that. She is almost certain to get caught in the crossfire now.
At least Attorney Choi seems aware of that fact, taking the “high road” this time by tampering with the witnesses instead of sending Trucks of Doom(tm) after our heroes — one with whom she might have familial ties. We haven’t officially been told yet.
It was satisfying to see Jun-woo reduce her from a ferocious tiger to a timid kitty with her little obedient nods in the boardroom. She’s been set up as a ruthless and uninhibited character from the beginning, so we’ll see how she changes surrounded by all these other characters who can rival her in evilness and cunning. Jun-woo will almost certainly be displeased that she didn’t just off Vincenzo like he had asked.
And finally, our Agent Ahn is getting in on some action! He’s been around Geumga Plaza long enough to know why both Wusang and Babel would be looking into Vincenzo, but where will he fit into this war? The contrast between our rookie agent’s unhoned instincts and all of our other, more seasoned players is guaranteed to be entertaining. In fact, his surveillance project is probably already over before it’s started. Vincenzo is far too clever and observant to have missed him hiding around the corner from the temple… right?
Vincenzo is an enigma, and I am very eager to figure him out. I love me some crazy twisty theories, so let’s try this one on for size: Vincenzo is/was not a consigliere. He was working undercover.
I have evidence, your honor.
“Isn’t this just common sense?” Vincenzo seems to know an awful lot about what guns Korean intelligence uses (episode 4) and surveillance techniques, and even seems to have a textbook knowledge of how the mafia operates.
“Ignorance isn’t a sin, but refusing to learn is.” What if he didn’t know he had been adopted by a mafia family, truly became a defense lawyer for victims of mob crimes, then found out he was in the family?
“Giving up on a hopeless war gives you a new opportunity.” According to Agent Ahn in the first episode, he only became the consigliere for the Cassanos in the last five years. What if he gave up on court and infiltrated his own family, working his way up to consigliere?
And finally, this look Vincenzo gives Yu-chan back in episode one, when he accuses Vincenzo of working for rich people:
Can’t I just like nice suits?
I don’t think the report is fake, friends. He might really be a civil rights attorney and philanthropist-turned-undercover-consigliere.
Why else would a #3 in the mob be so hellbent on defending victims he barely knows against a conglomerate he keeps likening to the mafia? Also, a romance couldn’t feasibly happen between Cha-young and Vincenzo if he were as dirty as we’re all led to believe. Either the intel report is all true, or someone falsified it on his behalf. Vincenzo doesn’t seem like the type who would coerce someone into that.
How’s that for a crack theory?
