The quality of the utility is second-to-none. It is expertly crafted, and will definitely last through years of repeated use. To top it off, you get 2 of them! You can’t beat that.
Ease of use –
This isn’t something you’ll take out of the box and instantly put in your performance repertoire, and that’s not a bad thing. This will take practice (and a lot of it), to master. Some techniques come faster than others, which allows you a nice progression of difficulty. You can use this to your advantage by actually performing the moves you learn quickly, while practicing the more advanced techniques as you work.
And now, the drawbacks:
1 – As a lefty I was, naturally, a bit nervous. After a week or so of practicing, I can already tell that, despite the fact that I can continue to use and progress with it, it just won’t ever get to that level of comfort that I would need, to reliably use it in a performance situation. I’m simply not as dexterous, or capable working “as a righty”, so for that, I may have to put this on the shelf.
2 – The reappearance feature is knacky, for me. I don’t want to step into the realm of exposure, here – so all I can say is that the utility is dependent upon body size, at times. If you’re on the taller side, you might find some parts don’t “line up” perfectly.
So, if you can get past the hindrances of left-handedness (unlike me), then you’ll love this. If you have no problem working with both hands equally, this is a no-brainer. This is a fantastic gimmick with many uses and applications! When you master the coin vanish it is super amazing and people love it. Jeff Kaylor teaches some really good card to envelope tricks as well. He teaches many tricks utilizing the gimmick and they are all great.
Here are the drawbacks for me:
1) In order to use this you must devote a shirt to it. Don’t get me wrong, with some of the methods he teaches you can still wear the shirt normally, but you are going to permanently change a shirt.
2)In order to practice, you must always put on that one particular shirt- get it ready and then practice. This means you cannot just quickly practice it regularly through the day. You must change and then spend a while practicing it.
3)Considering how impractical this is to practice, it needs a lot of practice! The coin vanishes will take a while to get, especially since you dont always find the time to change shirts and practice. Its not like working on a card move, because you can frequently pick up the cards and go. Not with this.
4)Invisible? not so much. Whenever I am wearing this I fear being spotted. In a performance certain angles dont work (admittedly a small percentage of angles). But even when you have this in in a non-performance mode (cant give away to much), this can look unnatural- e.g. when you are sitting down. This is to bear in mind- when I use this I dont feel safe and free from being spotted.
5)Often, on the go when you get asked to do a trick, you will not be wearing this. From these situations I have discovered that instead of using the UCCU I will just palm off the card. Sure the UCCU is a little cleaner but if your palm is good there is no difference from the point of view of a spectator. NOTE: all the envelope effects are still possible with a palm.
6) As for coin vanishes, it is fantastic, however I always stress over mucking it up in a way I would not whilst doing a retention for example. This move is hard, very hard. I mostly get it but occasionally I mess it up which is embarrassing when you put a coin in a bottle and end up with one on the floor as well.
7) Bearing in mind that I find the coin stuff very good (a little risky) and you can do the card stuff without it almost as well this has been on my shelf most of the time sadly. I do use it sometimes but most times I am in a casual environment and am wearing a t-shirt so I just do similar effects without.
I am sure you are aware of the clothing requirements but you must now consider- how often do you wear a shirt? Are you willing to change into one whenever you practice? Are you willing to practice a lot?!
I do love this but the above floors make it unsatisfactory for me- especially for the price.

Unlike many other tricks i have purchased over the years that just sit on the shelf and collect dust, this device has already been installed and has been incorporated into my routine. Everything you see listed in the description can be done.
Pro’s
Looks as close to real magic as one could possibly hope for.
Numerous possibilities for: Stage, walk around, table hopping, close up, and street.
DVD provides you with tons of extra ideas and routines that can be immediately worked on once the gimmick is installed.
Easy to install and retrieve your vanished items.
I LOVE THE BUSINESS CARD PRODUCTION. If you use this production with something like the smoke gimmick i think this is one of the best ways to produce your business cards.
You can use short sleeves!
They provide you with a website, username, and password to a secret website for others to share ideas…it is not fully functional but the idea is worth mentioning for once it goes live.
You DO NOT NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SEW to do this effect. I thought, when i was watching the demo, that i needed to sew or build some elaborate gimmick. NOT TRUE…this can be installed within a few minutes and be worn throughout the entire day without anyone ever seeing the gimmick. They provide you with a kit and the gimmick…a great addition.
Cons
I am left handed, and this effect is really designed for someone who is not a south paw. I am able to over come this but, as it has been mentioned by another review, if you cannot use your right hand for vanishes there really is no other way of using this device unless you find a women’s shirt that fits…(i haven’t found one) With that being said if you are a women who is right handed, you will have difficulty as well unless you wear a mans shirt. (It will make sense on why once you buy it)
Depending on your level of magic ability, you will need to practice the moves ALOT. To make this look natural like the video shows, many hours will be needed for the average magician or hobbyist.
Sorry for the long review but i really want you to know that you do indeed get your money’s worth. It is a bit pricy but i sternly believe that if you buy this effect and give it the practice it deserves, you will see the payoff on your spectators faces. One thing that works very well for me and attracted me to this product is its aid in performing the coin in a bottle. After getting the coin from the bottle after the trick I always end up with the trick coin in my right hand. If I surreptitiously put it in my pocket someone always says, “What did you put in your pocket?” Now, I can just toss it into thin air. Or, I can actually take it from the bottle into my right hand in plain view of all and pretend to toss it to my left hand where the normal coin awaits. I usually toss it to the left hand (falsely) and then toss the real coin back to the right hand. This way it gets wet from the beer that came out of the bottle into my right hand when I removed the trick coin. Before TKO, someone would sometimes notice that the coin presented after the trick was dry after supposedly being in a wet bottle. So, in short, this device has made the coin in a bottle trick absolutely and easily bulletproof. Even someone who knows how it’s done cannot figure out how I do it. Two gimmicks, an excellent DVD, a whole bunch of ideas and $80 bucks . . . is it gem or is it rubble? Stay Tuned.
Note: You’ll find this review copy in both the TKO 2.0 and the Refill review. Just keep in mind that the majority of the review is referring to the TKO 2.0 product. The “refill” is mentioned in the Final Thoughts below.
Effect
Well . . . You can do about a million effects with this. You’re getting a utility device that is very flexible. You can use it to vanish and/or switch and/or hide and/or a whole bunch of other things. One of the cleanest “card to spectator’s wallet” that you’ll ever get. Some of the cleanest coin vanishes and color changes imaginable. How ’bout producing your business card out of “thin air” using this utility . . . on and on and on.
Method
The method is a very clever toppit like device that can be worn with any button up shirt (while fully buttoned). The shirt can be tucked or un-tucked. You can wear a tie or not; wear a coat or not. With 2.0, you get a black gimmick and a white one. It easily will fit into your shirt. You have to make one minor modification to the shirt, but it’s easy to do, and will only take a minute. Everything, and I mean everything, you need to hook up the device to your shirt is included. If you decided to wear this every day, you easily could. It only adds 1 minute to your morning dressing ritual.
While wearing it, you’ll not even notice that you’re wearing it. It’ll always be there ready for you to use. It’s super, super simple to use. It’s one of the most practical and use-able devices I’ve seen in a long time. If you’re familiar with my S.S. Vanish from my Gemstones DVD, then this method/device will seem a bit familiar. My vanish does not require a gimmick or device. It can be done with zero prep (as long as you’re wearing a button up shirt). However, that doesn’t make mine better. Kaylor’s method gives you a lot of advantages that mine does not. First, retrieval is much easier with his method (i.e., regaining access to the vanished object). Also, Kaylor’s allows you more distance from the place of vanish giving it a cleaner feel.
Further, Kaylor’s can be used as a hold out and many other things that my S.S. Vanish cannot be used for. For what I use it for, I still use mine because it requires no prep. However, there are so many great effects you can do with Kaylor’s TKO, that it’s definitely a heavy weight contender.
Ad Copy Integrity
The ad copy is excellent. The only one thing I would “warn” you about is the “plinko” system. It’s meant to prevent/minimize clinking of coins when you’ve ditched a second coin (while another one is already in the device). I tested this over and over, and it always made a clink. Sometimes it was less noticeable than others, but it was always there. However, I was testing it with very heavy coins. I was using Mechanical Industries Coins. When I tested it with quarters, there was no sound whatsoever.
Product Quality
The quality of the device is top notch. It’s very durable and will last you forever-ish. It’s super easy to connect to your shirt. Plus, it comes with all the extras you need for various hook ups. They’ve made this thing nearly fool proof. Further, the DVD instructions were superb. They’re well shot, well lit, well angled, well mic’d . . . everything. Plus, you get a very well produced booklet (10 Pages) that’s full color with lots of photos to add even more to the learning experience. My only complaint is that there is a website mentioned on the DVD that says to go there and login (they provide a password) to learn more effects. There is supposed to also be “video support.” However, when I went there, I found nothing but a note saying that the site is under construction. The problem I have with that is that this product was released in Early to Mid 2012. It’s currently Early to Mid 2014. That’s 2 years later and there’s still no site. I’m not allowing that to impact the review, however, because the advertisement does not mention it anywhere, so it’s just gravy on what they’re telling you you’re getting.
Final Thoughts
I know $80 bucks is no small amount. However, when you consider that you’re getting a device as flexible and utilitarian as this, it’s hard not to justify this. If you liked the effects on the trailer – and they look exactly like what you saw – you need to buy this. Further, this device allows you to add dimensions and clarity and clean-ness to your current routines that make your magic so much more pure. You can also get a “refill” for $40 bucks. However, all you’re getting is just the Device. You don’t get a DVD or the book or the instructions, or the extra kit of stuff to make installing it easier. And you only get one, your choice of black or white. Considering that for that one thing it’s $40 bucks, that makes this $80 product (which includes much more than double the amount of value) an excellent deal. I have nothing but the highest recommendation for this product.

TKO 2.0 is THE Answer to all of these questions and more. TKO 2.0 is a utility device that works with any button-up shirt. It allows you to perform all of the clean and visual vanishes of the original TKO while adding the killer card techniques made possible by the Ultimate Card Control Utility (UCCU). The UCCU-and now, TKO 2.0-allows you to secretly yet flawlessly maintain control over one or more cards while the spectator shuffles the deck. The cards can then be produced from the deck or found in an impossible location, such as an envelope that has been in plain sight the entire time.

This package includes both a black and white TKO 2.0 so that you will be prepared for any colored shirt.
