Does Vincenzo have a happy ending?

After all the revenge killing, “Vincenzo” uses a one-year time jump to show where the show’s surviving characters end up. Vincenzo recovers the gold and buys an island near Malta, where he takes control of the local olive fields. This signifies his ascent to the top of his profession.

Do they fall in love in Vincenzo?

After 1 year, Vincenzo’s ending sees the Italian mafia consigliere sneak back to meet Cha Young culminating in a passionate kiss and a promise to ‘come back’.

Why was Vincenzo Cancelled?

Vincenzo’s unexpected delay…

In the announcement, it was confirmed that episode 17 of the hit Korean series would not be airing in its usual slot on tvN; the national television network in South Korea. The drama’s producers revealed that the short break was “in order to improve the quality of the drama.”

Who is Mr Na in Vincenzo?

Remember Na Deok-Jin? The man who was fired by Babel Group early in the season? Well, he’s back and it turns out he’s actually reinvented himself as Singing Mr Na., complete with a sparkly shirt and quaint bow tie. Vincenzo and Cha-Young meet him and ask about the paper company.

Is Mr Nam a traitor in Vincenzo?

Vincenzo and Cha-young have found a traitor (Mr Nam) in the union ranks; they want to use him to their advantage against Babel. Mr Lee pretends to be part of The Twin Swords Gang. They tie up the traitor (Mr Nam) for interrogation and act like they will throw him in cement.

Is Mr Cho a traitor in Vincenzo?

It turns out Cho is actually a corporate spy and works for an International Crime Bureau. He’s pretty cunning and admits that he’s not a good guy. As we soon find out, Vincenzo knew and suspected this deception the whole time.

Who is Vincenzo’s love interest?

In South Korea, he gets involved with Lawyer Hong Cha-Young (Jeon Yeo-Bin). She is the type of attorney who will do anything to win a case. Vincenzo Cassano falls in love with her.

Who does Vincenzo Cassano end up with?

A bittersweet ending

Vincenzo snuck in with the delegation and had a sweet reunion with Cha Young. He could, unfortunately, only be around for one day and had to leave South Korea soon. Vincenzo lets Cha Young know that he is now the head of the Cassano family back in Italy.

Who killed Jang Han Seo?

This essentially paved way for a host of other characters to die in the finale. Han-Seo died thanks to his brother shooting him in the stomach. Han-Seok then hired two goons to stab Seung-Hyeuk at the courthouse.

Does Vincenzo tell his mom?

Vincenzo learns who killed his mother, and he goes to the man’s house. He chokes the man and repeatedly punches him. Pure anger fills his eyes. He tells the man that the woman he killed was his mother, and he asks who gave the order and starts torturing him.

Does Vincenzo go back to Italy?

Luca asks Vincenzo to come back to Italy and save the family. Vincenzo has no choice but to leave for Italy, but that means leaving Cha-young temporarily, which brings more unspoken words. Mr. Nam is upset that he’s leaving, but Vincenzo reassures him that it will just be for two weeks.

Why is Vincenzo so popular?

Personally, I believe that Vincenzo has become one of the more memorable and popular K-dramas on Netflix because it ticks so many boxes from a viewer’s perspective. A great cast, fantastic characters, action scenes, a complex story, humour, a love interest: Vincenzo is delivering on numerous fronts.

Who is the main villain in Vincenzo?

2PM singer-actor Taecyeon has opened up about his experience portraying the antagonist on Vincenzo. The star spoke to W Korea about his role in Vincenzo, which premiered earlier this year, where he played its main antagonist, Jang Han-seok.

Why was Vincenzos mother in jail?

Vincenzo’s Origins

In Seoul-Korea around the year 1993, Park Joo-Hyeong (Song Joong-Ki) was raised by his single mother, Oh Gyeong-Ja (Yoon Bok-In), until she was jailed for the death of her boss.

Does Vincenzo get engaged?

As Vincenzo and Cha-young have taken another couple’s booking, they soon realise it’s for a marriage proposal — Vincenzo has to get on his knees and ask for marriage.

What happened at the end of Vincenzo?

Vincenzo paid off the Italians in episode 19 with a hefty sum of money. He drew up a contract and paid them 80 million euros. This squared the debt and stopped him being chased – it also allowed him to stay in Korea and fight against Babel group.

What happens in the last episode of Vincenzo?

Will there be season 2 of Vincenzo?

Despite its commercial success, Song Joong Ki revealed that there are no discussions for season 2 and there might never be in the future. “There are no discussions about season two at all. I’m thankful that there seem to be many people who want it.

Vincenzo episode 2 recap – Cha-young has a hunch about the mafia lawyer

3.5 Summary As cool and slick as you like, Vincenzo episode 2 continues to promote a cool character as we learn the intricacies of the conglomerate and the stakes involved. There’s certainly entertainment value in this series so far.

This recap of Netflix k-drama series Vincenzo episode 2 contains significant spoilers.

The first episode of Vincenzo took social media by a storm, with Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) slowly looking over its shoulder — who will win the weekend double? It’s going to be a closely contested fight for viewership.

After a frantic ending to the last episode, chapter two starts with a hectic start with Vincenzo hanging Park Seok-do at the end of the building. He tells him that the building belongs to him. Park Seok-do promises his men will leave if he helps him up. However, when he brings him up, Park Seok-do asks his men to kill Vincenzo, but luckily, the police show up and tell the CEO that reporters have shown up. It’s all hotting up in this plaza.

Despite the help, Hong Yu-chan is not happy with Vincenzo

Vincenzo episode 2 sees Hong Yu-chan and Vincenzo having to work with each other still, despite their moral differences and backgrounds. But episode 2 proves that they have more in common than they thought.

Vincenzo is pulled aside by Hong Yu-chan, and he tells him he shouldn’t be fooling around, which frustrates Vincenzo; Cha-young is on the sidelines making sly comments to wind both men up. After the argument ends, Vincenzo insists he will get the plaza back. As he leaves, the reporters turn up from a news channel and want to talk to Vincenzo. Cha-young has a hunch and tells Vincenzo that she believes there’s something more valuable within the building — Vincenzo has met his match. How will he be able to navigate the gold away from Cha-young in future episodes remains a question.

With the tenants unhappy, Hong Yu-chan wants to verify if Vincenzo has fooled them or not.

Needing to retrieve the gold

With an incoming demolish from Babel means it presents a headache for Vincenzo; it’s becoming a story where we can imagine the lead character getting softened by a moralistic lawyer and friendly tenants.

Vincenzo meets Mr Cho in the hospital. He’s severely injured after being hit by a truck. Vincenzo reveals that the secret room at the plaza has measures inside that if someone tries to break-in, it has defence mechanisms to stop them. He needs to find a way of removing tenants from the Temple to retrieve the gold. He visits the Temple and tells them not to waste money on a boiler as the building will be demolished anyway.

Vincenzo wants the documents for Babel E&C

So Vincenzo goes on the offence like any good lawyer would — Suits style.

Vincenzo meets Hong Yu-chan and asks if he can have the documents on Babel E&C so he can research the enemy before defeating them. Hong Yu-chan is hesitant about this idea, but Vincenzo reminds him of the “power of trust” and to give him a chance. Hong Yu-chan asks his assistant to pass him all the documents.

Vincenzo also wants the lawsuits documents, and he gets them. This is the first time that Hong Yu-chan realises that having Vincenzo beside him could be advantageous.

Facing the Chairman

Cha-young confronts Chairman Jang of Babel as she’s in charge of the lawsuit against them. He tells her to cut the case short as quickly as possible and walks away. She was trying to impress, but she looked down on him. The story is slowly leaning towards a plot where she will join her father and Vincenzo against Babel.

Fighting against Babel

Cha-young walks into her father’s office, and she sees Vincenzo is looking at the Babel files. She tells them she’s looking for her wallet. Vincenzo tells Cha-young and Hong Yu-chan that Babel are assh*les, and they do everything Yakuza, and Mafia do — he believes they are working out of line. Cha-young gets frustrated as Hong Yu-chan offers to help Vincenzo as much as possible to make them pay. Cha-young chases after Vincenzo, and they eat together — she calls him “basic”, but Vincenzo states he’s only preparing for war. In response, Cha-young tells Vincenzo to go back to Italy and fight against what he’s used to. The bickering between these two can only mean one thing — an incoming k-drama romance.

Meeting Na Deok-jin

Vincenzo heads to Babel offices with Hong Yu-chan and asks if he can see Na Deok-jin of Investment and Development. He’s denied at the reception to see him, but then he shows a bill of indictment for threatening and abetting. The receptionist immediately phones him. However, when they meet him, Vincenzo tells him the bill is fake, and they just wanted to meet. Vincenzo asks Na Deok-jin to cancel the contract and grabs him strongly by the shoulder. Vincenzo shows his gangster side here, and Hong Yu-chan looks impressed.

The lawyers drink together

Vincenzo episode 2 then provides a moment that came sooner than we thought — Hong Yu-chan and Vincenzo bond like friends.

Vincenzo and Hong Yu-chan talk about Babel’s eviction tactics and that they usually do it in a week. The two lawyers go out for a drink and meal. The pair seem to be bonding. Hong Yu-chan talks about how Oh Gyeong-ja was falsely charged for murder, but she accepts it because she believes she is being punished for abandoning her son. He talks about how he is the last lawyer that clients can lean on when it gets desperate — the last straw. While talking to Vincenzo, Hong Yu-chan gets a random silent call from a man. Hong Yu-chan tells Vincenzo that he seems genuine all of a sudden.

Ms Choi moves firms

Prosecutor Choi Myung-hee decides to hand in her resignation at work as she’s sick of being treated like a hound. She’s then welcomed to the same law firm that Cha-young works for. She will be a senior lawyer at Wusang. They talk about the plaza; Cha-young asks if they should consider the impact as a few people died in the last development.

Warm the tenants

And then we see how Cha-young is slowly moving to the other team…

Cha-young learns that the time they will demolish the plaza is 11 pm after her assistant overheard Mr Han on the phone with Chairman Jang. She storms to Hong Yu-chan’s place. However, Hong Yu-chan is retrieving vital information and leaves. Cha-young is frustrated and tells Vincenzo that they must evacuate the tenants immediately as the demolishment is coming. Vincenzo warns the tenants about the demolishment plans. The tenants fret as Vincenzo remains silent. They get annoyed as he likes photos on Instagram. The tenants go into a frenzy and start packing their things. Cha-young rings her father and tells him to leave the plaza immediately.

The ending

Mr Han and Ms Choi learn that one of the researchers at Babel Pharmaceuticals has run away during the quarantine. They end their meal short to go deal with the matter. Mr Han rings Cha-young, but she’s too busy heading to the plaza to get her father out of there before the demolishment.

When she arrives, a music festival has been prepared outside, meaning the construction team cannot proceed. It’s a protest. The tenants enjoy the night, and Vincenzo consumes his red wine and takes in the atmosphere, raising his glass to Hong Yu-chan. Flashbacks show Vincenzo thinking of the idea of a party, and he promoted it on Instagram. Cha-young sees it trending in the present day. She looks at him from a distance, and suddenly, the world slows down between them. Vincenzo raises a glass to her.

As cool as slick as you like, Vincenzo episode 2 continues to promote a cool character as we learn the intricacies of the conglomerate and the stakes involved. There’s certainly entertainment value in this series so far.

Additional points

At the police station, Mr An tells his superior that he believes Vincenzo fled from Italy to prevent being killed. He reckons he will create a new mafia in Korea. His superior angrily dismisses the idea.

Chairman Jang is beaten up by a hockey stick for not getting the construction tower done sooner.

Vincenzo tries out more Italian food at the restaurant at the plaza and calls it awful. The chef continues to be offended.

Vincenzo – K-Drama Episode 2 Recap & Review

Outstagram

Episode 2 of Vincenzo begins with Vincenzo himself hauling Seok-Do up from the window as he bemoans the scar that Vincenzo may well have left him. He tells his goons to attack… just as police officers arrive and disperse them before everything explodes into chaos.

In the aftermath of this, Yu-Chan takes Vincenzo aside and talks to him about his tape measure stunt. He tells Vincenzo to go home but he refuses to do so, promising to fight for the building and get it back. As he leaves, a reporter arrives to speak to Vincenzo but he’s obviously already left.

With him gone, the other residents think about teaching Vincenzo a lesson. Well, regardless of what they do, they all decide to stick together for the time being.

Vincenzo heads to the hospital and speaks to the Geumga Plaza resident hit by the dreaded truck, who happens to be in a bad way but still very much alive. He talks about the building and implores him to demolish the building before Babel do.

3 years back we see a bit more of the special room housing the gold. It turns out there’s a special contraption with the basement, which sets off charges to destroy the foundations if anyone tries to break in.

This meeting with Wang Shaolin eventually cuts us forward 2 years later where the news reveals that he died of a cardiac arrest after a swim. After this, Vincenzo worked to move the gold across to this building. However, we’re still not entirely sure how.

In the present, Vincenzo does his best to try and find a way into the temple but continues to raise his voice which, of course, startles the monks.

Meanwhile, Cha-Young is close to wrapping up the Babel case, given her Father has no more cards up his sleeve to play. However, she suddenly receives a visit from Joon-Woo who confirms that Babel’s pharmaceutical division have called with urgent news. One of the quarantined researchers have gone missing.

This causes Cha-Young to head out and speak to the Chairman of Babel directly but he brushes aside her greeting as she once again heads in the wrong direction to her car. Cha-Young eventually talks herself up as she heads in to see her Father.

Vincenzo speaks to Yu-Chan as well and manages to convince him to trust the consigliere for the time being. Yu-Chan gives the green-light to see all the documents on Babel.

While he looks through them, Cha-Young shows up and claims she’s lost her wallet. Of course, this is all a ploy to see the Babel documents. Well Vincenzo has thoughts on Babel, calling them all assholes. Given Cha-Young is currently there she’s taken aback as Yu-Chan steers Vincenzo’s loathing toward Law Firm Wusang, which Cha-Young obviously works for.

Cha-Young follows him out and the two wind up eating food together. While they wait for their dishes, Cha-Young tells him to head back to Italy. An argument breaks out in the restaurant though, which leads to Vincenzo’s food spilling all over his lap.

This inevitably brings him back to Chef Toto where he makes him saffron risotto. Once again he spits the food out and tells the chef it tastes like vomited baby food. Toto breaks down when he hears this though, as Vincenzo heads out to see Deok-Jin, the mobster working at Investment and Development.

With a Bill of Indictment in hand, Vincenzo forces a meeting and sits with this manager. The envelope he has is completely empty though, which is all a ploy to get in the room with this man. Vincenzo threatens to take his family and abduct him, as we hear another reference to The Godfather. It seems to work too.

Back at the office they learn more about how this operation works. Despite being illegal, Law Firm Wusang forcibly evict the residents one week after the notice and then demolish the non-residential areas as a way of spooking the rest of the residents.

When the residents leave, they’re given a small settlement but it’s not enough, especially given how illegal this is.

While they work on a solution,Vincenzo and Yu-Chan head out together for a drink where Vincenzo learns the meaning behind the title of his law firm. Only, he receives an ominous call from someone out in the rain who we later find out is that whistle-blower. Yu-Chan soon hangs up though and the pair continue drinking together.

Meanwhile, interspersed around this story is a separate plot line involving Prosecutor Myung-Hee. She’s being made the fall victim for several businessmen but she’s having absolutely none of it.

Seung-Hyeok shows up though and encourages her to join his law firm. With Babel group on their side, he makes a convincing argument as Myung-Hee admits that the alcohol is getting to her. On the back of this, Myung-Hee hands in her notice, claiming she’s sick of being her boss’ hound.

After making a statement, she shows up as Woosung Law Firm as a senior lawyer. With her firmly set to take over, Cha-Young is not exactly thrilled to see her. Everyone else however, is happy given Cha-Young’s behaviour.

Well, the group hold a meeting where Seung-Hyeok goes over his plan to evict those inside Geumga Plaza. Cha-Young is not happy though, especially with the way she’s been pushed out of this operation. She bemoans the residents for not moving out on their own accord, showing she’s completely unsympathetic to their plight.

Vincenzo heads in to Yu-Chan ‘s apartment and learns for the first time that Cha-Young is his daughter. The pictures of her up on the wall are very different from the character we’ve come to see here though.

Anyway, Cha-Young comes crashing in and announces that there’s a serious problem with the building. Before she can announce the demolition date, that researcher whistle-blower phones Yu-Chan and asks to meet.

Anyway, he rushes out to check up on him while Vincenzo learns about the demolition of Geumga Plaza. Cha-Young admits that she doesn’t care about the residents though, she just cares about her own livelihood and her Father’s well-being.

Vincenzo contemplates what he can do to help them, as he shows up to the Geumga Plaza meeting. The only one missing is Yu-Chan who’s obviously out at his meeting.

With time running out, all our characters contemplate exactly what to do to try and save Geumga Plaza. Day turns to night and Park Seok-Do orchestrates all the diggers. Only, when they get there they’re stopped by an impromptu party outside full of dancing, food stalls and fire-breathers.

It’s a pretty ingenious ploy, one that sees the place brimming with people. When Cha-Young shows up she sees Vincenzo and the others partying which puts a wry smile across her face. And now we see how this came to be.

Vincenzo plastered his own face and real name all over social media to make this a high-profile event on Outstagram. As they stare one another down, Vincenzo offers his glass of wine in a toast.

The Episode Review

So I’m by no means an expert when it comes to mob families or the mafia but surely the consigliere of the Italian mafia wouldn’t be so reckless as to plaster his own name, photo and location all over social media would he?

Given how we ended things in Italy, this paints a massive target on his back and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see that crime family taking their revenge for this.

In the meantime though, Vincenzo’s second episode slows the pace down a fair amount as we start to settle into the law drama side of things. The entire event revolves around Geumga Plaza and making sure it isn’t demolished… which would be fine if we didn’t already know what happens.

As we’ve seen from the opening shot of the first episode then we already know it does so that diminishes some of the tension a bit.

The characters themselves are also a bit of a mixed bag of archetypes and annoying tropes, with Cha-Young the biggest culprit here.

Her character is a ruthless lawyer and clearly uncaring to anyone else’s feelings. The moments of humour that she’s placed in, and the style (outright slapstick) just doesn’t work for this sort of character.

When you compare Vincenzo to Mr Queen, tvN’s previous drama in this time-slot, the humour was totally in-sync with the darker drama.

The verdict is still out with this one though and nothing has quite clicked into place as smoothly as one may expect. However there’s definitely potential here.

The opening shots, like I mentioned last time, were absolutely beautiful but if this is supposed to be a comedy/drama, I’m questioning why such a straight and shocking opening (along with such a dark, moody and dramatic set of posters) were chosen to demonstrate this. I mean, just as an example, do these posters seem like something from a comedy?

We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out of course, but for now this first week bows out with a promising prospect of things to come.

The Ending Of Vincenzo Season 1 Explained

Revenge is one of the oldest subjects in fiction, because it’s an inherently volatile concept. All of us can understand the need for revenge. However, even when it’s justified, getting revenge has a way of warping people. Can we get revenge and still remain the person we used to be? That’s the question at the heart of “Vincenzo,” a hit new Korean mafia drama that concluded its first season on May 2, 2021.

“Vincenzo” follows a South Korea-born mafia consiglieri named Vincenzo (neé Park Joo-Hyung), who arrives in Seoul with the goal of recovering 1.5 tons of gold stashed inside the Gemuga Plaza skyscraper, which the corrupt real-estate company The Babel Group has taken over. He teams up with an ambitious young lawyer named Han Cha-young, whose father The Babel Group has murdered.

After an action-packed 20 episodes, Vincenzo’s season finale delivers not just a high body count, but a definitive answer to its central question. Sadly, it looks like “Vincenzo” won’t be coming back for season 2. But there’s still a lot to unpack from the season 1 finale. Here’s what it all means.

Vincenzo’s Ending: Who Dies In Vincenzo’s Last Episode & Does Vincenzo Find Love?

Song Joong-ki’s ‘Vincenzo’ came to a close with a nail-biting finale. Vincenzo’s last episode takes forward from Vincenzo’s episode 19’s cliffhanger ending. Lawyer Cha Young is shot, Han Seo battles his brother while finally acknowledging Jun Woo ‘shouldn’t have been born’.

Do Vincenzo and Lawyer Hong get together?

Vincenzo Cassano and Cha Young share a lot of sweet moments together in Vincenzo’s ending episode. From their quiet chat in the hospital room, to their tearful farewell as Vincenzo leaves S.Korea, Song Joong-ki and Jeon Yeo Bin’s characters in ‘Vincenzo’ appear to be doomed to be separated. After 1 year, Vincenzo’s ending sees the Italian mafia consigliere sneak back to meet Cha Young culminating in a passionate kiss and a promise to ‘come back’.

Does Choi Myung-hee get her just-desserts?

With Cha Young’s encouragement, Vincenzo’s 24-hour countdown begins by making a call to Chief Prosecutor Han Seung Hyuk. In exchange for saving his life, Vincenzo asks Seung Hyuk to ensure Choi Myung-hee’s release from prison. After her release, Choi Myung-hee immediately gets in touch with Jun Woo, who reveals he’s stowing away to Mexico. He also asks her to wire money to their individual bank accounts and directs her to his office and bank passwords. Thinking she’s safe with a multitude of bodyguards, Choi Myung-hee makes to Jun Woo’s office where Vincenzo is waiting for her. Keeping to his promise of a ‘slow death’, Vincenzo brings Choi Myung-hee to an abandoned warehouse, before finally setting her aflame with his classic move – a back-throw of his lighter.

What happens to Jun Woo?

Vincenzo saves the slowest kill of all for Jun Woo – the spear of atonement. Describing how Jun Woo’s brother helped with tracking him, Vincenzo narrates how the spear of atonement would work. The mechanical drill would pierce Jun Woo for 5 mm until noon the next day, when it would finally reach his lung leading to instant death 24 hrs later.

Jun Woo uncharacteristically puts forward many arguments as he pleads for his life. From recalling that ‘we are both businessmen’ to entreaties about Vincenzo’s kind-heartedness to requests for a quick gun-shot kill. Vincenzo’s ending shows Jun Woo immobile the next day, leaving the viewer to decide if he’s really dead or ready for a comeback if ever Vincenzo Season 2 is announced.

Who dies in Vincenzo’s last episode?

Vincenzo’s ending episode sees a lot of deaths – from the bad guys getting killed to near-deaths in the Geumga Plaza gang to the loss of Han Seo as he dies in Vincenzo’s arms. Chief Prosecutor Han is also executed by Jun Woo on the courtroom steps, inspite of Vincenzo sparing his life. Vincenzo’s ending episode also teased the premise of Cha Young being killed, before Han Seo saved her life by taking on the fatal bullet.

On April 7th, it was announced that Vincenzo would be taking a surprise break from its regular broadcast.

The drama’s producers revealed that the short break was “in order to improve the quality of the drama.”

Vincenzo – K-Drama Episode 14 Recap & Review

Sweetie & Darling

Following the pig blood incident, episode 14 of Vincenzo begins with Joon-Woo taken off stage and forced back to the police station. With all our characters gathered, they go over the evidence obtained thus far regarding the Vision team.

Along with documents, Vincenzo also has a statement from the truck driver who ran over the Union Leader. He was paid off by Joon-Woo and his men.

Vincenzo chooses some careful words for the Babel group, eventually leaving with Cha-Young while the team sit together and contemplate their next move. Part of that move includes going after Joon-Woo’s paper company. Vincenzo is no fool though, and knows that someone is going to take the fall for these anti-union documents. That person, it seems, is Han-Seo.

Despite him admitting to everything, Prosecutor Hwang shows and forces the investigation to be stopped, demanding it be started over again. It’s a tough pill to swallow for everyone, as Babel group get away again.

Meanwhile, Vincenzo hunts for the mysterious paper company, leaning on Park Seok-Du’s expertise in money laundering for clues.

Remembering the horrific ordeal they had to endure in the freezers, Vincenzo convinces them to join his cause. He also meets with In-Kuk too, who remains convinced that Vincenzo may be able to help. He thinks Vincenzo will find a way to put these corrupt politicians behind bars without needing the guillotine file.

Well, that may come sooner rather than later when Han-Seo decides to book a meeting with Vincenzo himself. Seung-Hyeok sets it up too, encouraging Vincenzo to meet in private.

Once there, he outright admits to Vincenzo that he’ll help team up with him to take out Joon-Woo if that’s what it takes. Vincenzo refuses though, claiming his code never includes turning family against themselves. After a swift drink, he leaves.

According to him, it’s actually hidden within an art gallery.

Meanwhile, Myung-Hee contacts one of Vincenzo’s old colleagues back in Italy. She asks him for details about something which, as we soon find out, is her way of turning enemies against enemies

At Geumga Plaza, Seok-Do brings in Gwang-Jin, the gold enthusiast online. It turns out he’s actually given up hunting for gold and now looks after dogs. He also tells them that real gold is actually kept within your hearts.

When he leaves, Vincenzo and Cha-Young happen to be watching. After speaking to the residents, Mi-Ri leaves with Vincenzo and figures out where the gold is stashed away. It turns out she’s actually the one who made the security system itself. Talking in private, she reveals all, asking to be part of this operation and share in the plunder.

With the gold heist back on, Vincenzo and Cha-Young approach the residents with newfound enthusiasm. He intends to take out Babel now – properly – and that includes checking out the art gallery. Once there, he wants to find a way inside the Director’s office.

This includes using the private rental service, with Cha-Young and Vincenzo pretending to be a couple to sneak in. Part of this includes changing the photos online, which Mi-Ri effortlessly does.

While Vincenzo gets some new gear for Cha-Young to wear, the real couple are distracted by Nam Joo-Sung. He drives them to Geumga Plaza for dinner and a show.

Vincenzo and Cha-Young show up at the art gallery where it turns out Anderson and his wife were actually due to propose! This catches them both completely off-guard as Vincenzo is forced to propose to his associate. After, he’s told to kiss her, which the pair do eventually do.

The whirlwind of emotion encapsulated in this 10-20 second moment is nothing short of incredible acting. Both characters are clearly conflicted, with neither wanting to use the other as an accessory. Say what you will about the moment itself, but the acting and direction of this entire sequence is beautifully done.

After kissing, the pair both admit this is not a night they’ll ever forget. Thankfully, Anderson and his wife do also get their unforgettable evening, complete with the marriage proposal. Backdropped by the noise of the monks chanting, they kiss and embrace.

When the Director is called away by a commotion outside, Vincenzo and Cha-Young seize their opportunity and immediately hack into the Director’s computer. With Mi-Ri accessing it remotely, this corporate espionage is on! Mi-Ri hacks into the computer and manages to complete the transaction just in time.

The Director bursts back into the office and asks just what they’re doing, realizing they’re not a real couple. Cha-Young and Vincenzo play them at their own game though, brandishes badges and guns. They claim to be agents from AISE; the foreign Intelligence Agency of Italy.

The pair immediately go after Director Jung and demand she speak up about the fake paintings. She eventually admits the truth, prompting the group to leave the Art Gallery together as a single unit. After, Vincenzo and Cha-Young awkwardly dance around their kiss. Sitting in the car together, they laugh nervously and decide to have a drink on the rooftop.

Only, Vincenzo realizes he’s being watched and leaves Cha-Young for the time being. Up on the rooftop, he awaits the arrival of two Italian gangsters.

They show with silenced weapons but Vincenzo is smart, managing to hold one up at gunpoint. Unfortunately, he’s not smart enough as a third arrives behind him. Vincenzo is forced to his knees – after a swift strike to the face of course. Looking up, Vincenzo realizes Paolo is the one who sent him.

The Episode Review

Vincenzo returns with a much more tonally consistent episode compared to yesterday. It also delivers some of the best laughs and drama of the season so far.

The art heist is simple enough to follow and the decision to throw Babel Group on the back-burner for the time being is a nice move. This allows Vincenzo and Cha-Young to lead the group – and give Mi-Ri some crucial screen-time too.

The big reveal with her actually being part of this whole operation is a nice touch and allows her to grow beyond “spooky ghost girl” into a character with much more depth.

Speaking of depth, the chemistry between Cha-Young and Vincenzo has been growing over the weeks and this episode finally gives fans what they’ve been waiting for – the big kiss.

The two couples – both at the art gallery and Geumga Plaza – give the best moments of the entire episode. The two contrasting kisses, and the emotion that stems from both, produce a myriad of emotion, with equal passion and laugh out loud moments.

I’ve said it before but Vincenzo is one of those shows that when it fires on all cylinders it really does deliver excellent drama. It’s just a pity that this has been a bit of an inconsistent show.

Despite that, this episode in particular is arguably one of the strongest so far. Some may disagree of course, but for me I found this to be one of the stronger and more consistent chapters so far.

The ending cliffhanger is pretty similar to Cho’s betrayal though, but that’s a minor point in what’s otherwise been a really enjoyable episode. Roll on next week!

Vincenzo: Episode 2 Recap

No one said it’ll be easy, but it definitely hasn’t been all that bad either. With Vincenzo new in town, there are certain steps he has to take first before he can fully embark on his goal and mission with Geumga Plaza. As he will come to learn, it takes a little bit of trust and lots of fun to get the plan rolling.

Vincenzo: Episode 2 Recap

Mr. Park is barely hanging on by a thread and is forced to make a promise with Vincenzo before he can get pulled back up inside the building. He’s demanded to take his men with him and leave our Geumga tenants alone. Mr. Park frantically grants Vincenzo the promise and climbs up back inside the building with the assistance of his men. However, it doesn’t take long for him to break his promise and he threatens to fight against Vincenzo. The intense situation comes to an abrupt stop when they’re approached by security guards pleading for Mr. Park to stop. With that, the Babel gang leaves and Lawyer Hong has a talk with Vincenzo inside of his office.

Lawyer Hong dismisses Vincenzo to leave the Geumga tenants alone despite Vincenzo’s claims that Mr. Cho was threatened by Babel E&C to sell the plaza over to Babel E&C. Lawyer Hong refuses to listen to any of it, but Vincenzo also doesn’t back down. He’s going to stay and fight for the building even if no one believes in him. Mr. Nam and Cha-young listen carefully to the conversation nearby and Cha-young too is dismissed by her father. Seconds after Vincenzo exits the office, reporters enter the law firm at the request of Vincenzo.

Cha-young catches up to Vincenzo and she cuts to the chase. She’s suspicious and skeptical of Vincenzo and is certain that there must be something bigger behind his fight against Babel E&C. There must be another reason as to why he’s trying so hard to defeat the huge conglomerate. Though Vincenzo doesn’t give anything away, Cha-young can sense something fishy about his involvement with the situation and makes sure to relay that suspicion to him before walking away. The Geumga tenants all gather inside of Larry’s dance studio for another meeting. They express anger, frustration, and confusion about Vincenzo who they now perceive as a traitor. Cheol-wook offers to teach him a lesson using his martial art skills and they even go as far as to nitpick on Vincenzo’s Italian background. Lawyer Hong reassures everyone that he’ll do some investigation on Vincenzo for the time being to figure out what his true intentions on getting involved are and whether he’s on their side or not.

Prosecutor Myung-hee works her magic by threatening a man, Deputy Minister Lee, in her office. She makes sure to let him know that he is to cooperate and settle with her or else worse things could happen to him. Vincenzo pays Mr. Cho a visit at the hospital and is encouraged by Mr. Cho to demolish Geumga Plaza as soon as possible before Babel E&C can get their hands on it. If they demolish the building first, they’ll discover all the gold sitting in the storage room of the basement and it’ll all be over. Upon listening to Mr. Cho’s wise words, Vincenzo is reminded of a meeting he had with Mr. Cho and the owner of the gold 3 years back. Vincenzo shares the special feature about the storage room that makes it impossible for people to try to steal the gold without getting killed. In addition, no one else, except for Vincenzo and Mr. Cho, is to be aware of the storage room which means all the workers who helped construct the storage room are killed.

Fast forward to 12 months ago, Vincenzo learns of the owner, Mr. Wang’s, passing due to a cardiac arrest. A few months later, Vincenzo then approaches Mr. Cho for an opportunity that is too good to resist: the chance to make some retirement money and access the bars of gold hidden in the storage room with Mr. Wang’s passing. 7 months passes and Mr. Cho relays the news to Vincenzo – who’s still in Italy at the time – about Babel E&C’s sudden approach in purchasing buildings all over the town including Geumga Plaza itself. Vincenzo isn’t too worried upon hearing the news at that time. He’s certain they’ll only need two days at most to demolish the building and to move all the gold. It shouldn’t be too difficult.

However, things aren’t as easy as they seem in the present now that a temple is occupied right above the storage room. Vincenzo is greeted by Monk Chaeshin and Cheol-wook as the two men approach the temple and it’s then that Vincenzo learns of their plans to install a boiler. Vincenzo grows alarmed at the news and he tries to talk both guys out of the idea. He even offers to purchase some electric pads to heat up the floor and he’ll pay for electricity. He’s desperate to not let anyone touch anything that could expose or affect the storage room down below. He’ll do whatever it takes. Vincenzo’s kindness should be accepted, right? Lol.

Managing Partner Han and Cha-young go over their next steps for their court case against Lawyer Hong. Things are looking great for Wusang and they’re confident that they will reign as the winner for the lawsuit. Just then, intern Joon-woo comes barging into Cha-young’s office with some news. Managing Partner Han picks on Joon-woo and his odd habit of wearing sneakers with his suits, but Joon-woo has to remind Managing Partner Han that it was him who picked Joon-woo to intern, not Cha-young. LOL. When Managing Partner Han leaves, Joon-woo runs up to Cha-young to deliver her the grand news: a researcher from the Babel Pharmaceuticals Drug Development division who was supposed to quarantine has gone missing. He’s disappeared.

Mr. An is still intent on digging more into Vincenzo’s life and background with the mafia in Italy. He proposes a request for a mission to his boss, Director Tae, to once again investigate on Vincenzo’s reasonings for returning to Korea. Mr. An assumes Vincenzo must be creating a new gang in Korea, but Director Tae doesn’t buy into it. Vincenzo would need lots of money in order to do so and it’s not like he’s hiding stacks of money somewhere in Korea (HAHAHA the irony in all of this). Director Tae dismisses Mr. An’s foolish idea once again without hesitation. However, Mr. An is still determined to find out the truth behind Vincenzo’s visit to Korea and he’s even willing to use his own earnings in order to carry out his mission.. even if it proves to be a little too costly to Mr. An’s liking, lol.

Lawyer Hong watches news coverage regarding the witness who turned himself in perjury. He’s disappointed at how the man caved in for money instead of helping seek justice for the victims affected by Babel Pharmaceutical’s new drug. When he transitions his attention to Mr. Nam, Lawyer Hong discovers Mr. Nam discarding their documents on their lawsuit against Babel Pharmaceuticals. The case is over now and it’s obvious that they’ve lost. Lawyer Hong still holds out hope that things will change and maybe they might just do. Vincenzo enters the office at that moment requesting for all of the documents that Lawyer Hong has on Babel E&C. He emphasizes that he’s an ally to the Geumga tenants and not an enemy like how they perceive him to be. Though Lawyer Hong is resistant at first, he eventually gives in. He places his trust in Vincenzo and hands over the documents.

Cha-young and Joon-woo meet with staff from the Babel Pharmaceuticals Drug Development division privately. Cha-young isn’t too happy with the disappearance of the researcher and instructs them to find the man as soon as possible. None of the news is to also be shared with the higher-ups from the corporation. After the meeting, Cha-young and Joon-woo walk outside and back to their cars. Cha-young is nervous as to what could happen with the researcher, but the thing she fears the most is the researcher going to her father. She’s okay with the researcher revealing everything to anyone but Lawyer Hong.

As the two continue to pace outside, they notice Chairman of Babel, Jang Han-seo (Kwak Dong-yeon), walking with his staff behind him. Cha-young takes advantage of the opportunity to introduce herself to the Chairman, but he can care less about her. The not-so-friendly exchange comes to an abrupt end and Cha-young resumes with her plans for the day. She denies a steak date with Joon-woo to go on with her day. Back at the Jipuragi office, Vincenzo does his research on Babel Pharmaceuticals and reads stories about test subjects dying as a result of their new drug. When asked for all the documents relating to the current lawsuit involving Cha-young, Lawyer Hong approves immediately. He really is placing all his trust in Vincenzo without a care in the world. Haha, I love it.

Prosecutor Choi grabs dinner with her boss and a colleague, but the conversation quickly turns sour when she’s assigned another scandal to handle and take care of. It’s obvious she’s frustrated of having to clean up after other people’s mess. Cha-young stops by the Jipuragi office and drags her feet inside initially pretending to look for her lost wallet. However, when she’s quickly discovered to be lying, she seats herself at the table with Vincenzo who’s reading up on Babel E&C as well as Babel Pharmaceuticals. She’s confused at first with the initial sighting and quickly grows flustered afterwards. Vincenzo and Lawyer Hong team up and both take turns criticizing Babel for being bullies and Wusang Law Firm being right there next to them to help them. Cha-young takes offense with all the harsh and brutal comments and she chases after Vincenzo when he exits the law firm. She assumes he’s leeching off of her father to make some profit out of the lawsuit, but the conversation ends there.

Chef Toto quickly closes his restaurant when he finds Vincenzo and Cha-young approaching nearby. He lies that the restaurant has closed for the day and encourages them to stop by the snack bar down the hallway. Hungry and with no other option, the duo make their way to the snack bar shop. Vincenzo is initially denied any food by owner, Mrs. Kwak, but she gives in when Cha-young joins not too shortly afterwards. They have a plate of tteokbokki and when asked for a glass of water, Vincenzo is instructed in Korean + English to grab it himself, lol.

Vincenzo clarifies with Cha-young that he has his own reasons for being involved with Geugma plaza and for fighting against Babel. Cha-young encourages him to simply stop and leave; Korea is different from what he might be used to and it’ll all be for nothing. However, Vincenzo doesn’t plan on giving up and that is that. Just then, Mrs. Kwak’s son, Kim Young-ho, enters the shop and receives yet another beating by his mother for smoking. He rushes out of the shop and accidentally causes the plate of tteokbokki to splatter over Vincenzo’s expensive suit in the process of doing so. While Cha-young remains fascinated by Mrs. Kwak’s fighting skills, all Vincenzo can focus on is his precious suit. Haha.

Prosecutor Choi bids farewell with his boss and colleague after dinner and she utters under her breath her vow to take them down one day. Just when it seems as if all is hopeless, another opportunity presents itself. Managing Partner Han and Prosecutor Choi go out for some food and drinks later on that night and he offers her the chance to work at his law firm, Wusang. It’s obvious that she’s going to simply get dismissed from her current job the moment she’s no longer needed. Managing Partner Han attempts to lure and persuade Prosecutor Choi with the power and prestige of Babel. They’re rich, powerful, and huge and even if cleaning up after their mess requires a lot of work, it makes Managing Partner Han and his wallet content. The offer is too good to deny and Prosecutor Choi is tempted to take up on the offer. She also grows curious about the chairman of Babel.

Speaking of the chairman of Babel, Han-seo pleads for forgiveness from a man dressed up as a hockey player at an ice skating rink. Han-seo apologizes for the urgent situation with the missing researcher as well as the postponement with Geumga Plaza. To teach Han-seo a lesson and to punish him for his incompetence, the man swings his hockey stick at Han-seo and beats the chairman ferociously. Vincenzo wakes up to a bright and early morning after suffering a nightmare about all the assassinations and missions he’s carried out back in Italy. The pigeons have also gathered outside of his window and that too wakes him up, lol. His next stop is, of course, Chef Toto’s Italian restaurant and just like the previous experience, Chef Toto is petrified of Vincenzo’s judgement towards his food and Vincenzo is disgusted by the taste of the food. He describes it as trash once again, but he’s still keen on returning to eat at the restaurant. Vincenzo also isn’t afraid of exposing Chef Toto’s true story to everyone else if he has to. Poor Chef Toto!

Vincenzo and Lawyer Hong go on a field trip to visit Mr. Na, the team representative from Babel’s development team, who they had met previously with back at Jipuragi’s office. This time, they make the trip to meet Mr. Na at his headquarters and with Vincenzo’s quick thinking and frightening threatening skills, they manage to meet with Mr. Na without having to make a prior appointment. The meeting is sweet and short and Vincenzo threatens Mr. Na to once again leave them alone. He’s not afraid of destroying Mr. Na or Babel like how he used to do to his enemies back in Italy. The threat works in the meantime and Lawyer Hong leaves the meeting impressed with Vincenzo’s skills.

It doesn’t take long for Prosecutor Choi to quit her job and to join Wusang. Before throwing away all of her belongings outside in a trashcan, she throws her plaque with her name and title at one of the windows in the building and quickly escapes to avoid getting caught. When she arrives at Wusang, she’s introduced by Managing Partner Han to all the lawyers and gives a few remarks before leaving for her office. Although it seems as if everyone else there isn’t happy with Lawyer Choi’s addition to the team, Cha-young can read their minds and thoughts. Everyone but Cha-young rejoices at the fact that Lawyer Choi is now the senior lawyer at Wusang representing the law firm and not Cha-young.

Larry shows off his zombie acting skills to our Geumga ladies, Yeon-jin, Mrs. Kwak, and Mi-ri. He’s been selected to coach the zombies for the upcoming ‘Train to Ulsan’ movie (LOLOL). However, they’re not so impressed with his acting and argue they can do just as much and even better than him. The three ladies go all out with their best zombie imitations to prove their point, but they quickly stop when they discover Vincenzo and Lawyer Hong watching them in the dance studio. Lawyer Hong plays it off, but Vincenzo is clearly flustered by the sighting. When the two men leave, Mi-ri is the most embarrassed. She worries about what Vincenzo might think of her now and if he saw the roof of her mouth, LOL.

Lawyer Hong and Vincenzo strategize their future plans at Jipuragi. They anticipate that Babel E&C will repeat history and make their move within the next day or two. Just like before, Babel E&C will instill fear in the tenants by demolishing all the non-residential buildings nearby before moving onto the Geumga tenants themselves. Vincenzo and Lawyer Hong seem stuck and uncertain as to what to do. To relieve some of their stress, they go out for some drinks and it’s then that Vincenzo has his first taste of makgeolli. Lawyer Hong teaches the Italian some drinking etiquette and it’s obvious the two men get along the more they spend time together. They have an honest and heartfelt conversation about the feelings of hopelessness, rage, and helplessness that the weak feels and utilizes Ms. Oh as an example. Vincenzo learns more about Ms. Oh and her reasoning to stay as an inmate: she feels as if she’s being punished for abandoning her child in the past. It doesn’t matter that she was falsely accused of murder. She believes she deserves this punishment and that there’s no way of getting out of things.

Lawyer Hong also explains the history behind his law firm name, Jipuragi: just like the translation of the word, Lawyer Hong feels as if he’s that last straw that his clients can grab a hold of to feel some sense of hope and optimism. He’s the last thing they got and that’s why he does the work that he does. Shortly afterwards, Lawyer Hong receives a phone call from an unknown number and picks it up only for there to be silence on the other end. The caller is a man standing outside in the rain with an umbrella. He’s the researcher working for Babel Pharmaceuticals who had disappeared. After the phone call ends, Vincenzo and Lawyer Hong enjoy each other’s presence and continue to drink some more makgeolli. Aww, this scene between them is so genuine and touching.

Wusang has a meeting to go over their current lawsuits. Since Cha-young has pretty much wrapped up the one involving Babel Pharmaceuticals, they transition to the next case: Geumga Plaza. Just like all the other times, they’ll demolish the building using the same tactics like before. Babel E&C will “accidentally” damage the building to instill fear in the tenants and then eventually take over the building and demolish it. It shouldn’t be too complicated or difficult and no one finds the situation problematic. Tenants have died in previous cases and yet, no one at Wusang bats an eye. Cha-young feels conflicted upon hearing the details to the case and the fact that her father is the chairman of the development opposition committee. When the meeting concludes, she storms back into her office and unleashes her anger out on Joon-woo. She wishes that the Geumga tenants would just leave the building. Out of everyone in that group, their lawyer (AKA Lawyer Hong) is the worst one.

Speaking of Lawyer Hong, he invites Vincenzo over to his house for some breakfast to cure their hangover. When Vincenzo arrives, he stops at the entrance to take a good look at the photos of teenager Cha-young. He initially assumes Lawyer Hong must have another daughter, but nope, it’s just photos of young and innocent Cha-young. Joon-woo overhears a conversation between Managing Partner Han and Chairman Han-seo while in Managing Partner Han’s office. Plans to demolish Geumga Plaza are scheduled for 11pm the next night and Joon-woo rushes to Cha-young’s office afterwards to deliver her the news. With that, Cha-young hurries over to her father’s house, but first, she takes down the old photos of her hanging by the entrance. LOL, priorities! She’s about to relay the information about the demolition to her father and Vincenzo when Lawyer Hong steps aside to take a phone call. Upon answering the phone in his bedroom, Lawyer Hong discovers that it’s the missing researcher from Babel Pharmaceuticals who’s calling him. His name is Yoo Min-chul and he wants to meet with Lawyer Hong to expose Babel. They agree on a location to meet and Lawyer Hong leaves Vincenzo and Cha-young behind at the house.

With her father gone, Cha-young has no choice but to update Vincenzo about the demolition scheduled for 11pm the next night. She urges Vincenzo to evacuate the tenants before they possibly get hurt and die. Vincenzo’s surprised at how worried Cha-young seems, but he doesn’t think too much about it and resumes with eating breakfast. Once Cha-young finally regains control of herself and her emotions, she realizes how much of a mess her father’s house is and she cleans up the dining table, including the bowl of rice and soup that Vincenzo was eating from. LOLOL. While Lawyer Hong secretly meets up with Mr. Yoo at a motel, Vincenzo brainstorms on how to stop Babel E&C from demolishing Geumga Plaza. He toggles his golden lighter in his hand while he figures out a solution.

Our Geumga tenants are alerted about the demolition and are urged to evacuate by 11pm that night before Babel E&C arrives. They’re flustered and confused with the short notice and they’re also angry at Babel E&C for planning such a horrendous thing. Our tenants will be losing the one place that serves as their house and means to living and they’re unsure as to what to do next. While the tenants ramble and rant about Babel, they also urge Vincenzo to speak up and say something. Vincenzo remains silent as he sits on a white comfy sofa nearby while scrolling through his SNS account (LOL, where did the sofa even come from?! It’s so fancy and random!)). While the tenants remain impatient with Vincenzo, Mr. Nam joins Vincenzo in on his social media habit and presses the like button on one of the pictures that pops up on Vincenzo’s feed. LOL.

Cha-young can’t help but notice the clock as she’s working in her office. She grows more and more anxious as time inches closer to 11pm. When Lawyer Hong returns to Geumga Plaza, he discovers all the tenants running around in a frenzy and moving out their belongings in a hurry. He then receives an update from Vincenzo about Babel E&C’s plans to demolish the building that night. Lawyer Choi and Managing Partner Han are out enjoying some dinner when they receive the news about researcher Yoo’s disappearance from Babel Pharmaceuticals. Their nice dinner is cut short and Managing Partner Han attempts to get in contact with Cha-young to discuss the situation. However, Cha-young is busy driving to Geumga Plaza to rescue her father and she doesn’t stay on the phone long with Managing Partner Han. When she calls her father to urge him to evacuate, he remains calm and peaceful. He’s not afraid at all.

The Babel gang drive out with their huge bulldozers and excavators to Geumga Plaza and they assume it’s going to be like all the other times. However, it’s not. This time, it’s completely beyond what they expected. There’s a huge wine party happening at the plaza and there’s tons of people and dancing and activities going on. Cha-young runs as fast as her high heels allow her to and she’s confused upon arriving at the party. The same goes for sidekick Jeon Soo-nam and his men who witness the party unfold right in front of their eyes. All our Geumga tenants have fun, munch, on some snacks and play around. Even Mr. An is at the party to continue his personal investigation of Vincenzo. Cha-young searches for Vincenzo at the party and she spots him networking with attendees at the event. Vincenzo discovers Lawyer Hong peeking from the level above and together, they give each other a toast. Lawyer Hong notices Cha-young at the party afterwards and is stunned to find his daughter there.

The mastermind behind the party is none other than Vincenzo and it turns out he did some research to come up with the idea of the party. In the meeting with the tenants earlier that morning, he proposed they throw a party right when the tenants were close to giving up on him. Thanks to the power of social media, Vincenzo invited everyone through a post he made on his SNS account which reached hundreds of people. Fast forward to the present and the party resulted into a huge hit. Cha-young is clearly fascinated with Vincenzo’s tactics and she likes the photo of his invitation on his SNS account. When Vincenzo finally notices Cha-young at the party, he smirks at her and twirls his cup of wine before extending the cup out towards Cha-young. She also smirks at Vincenzo in return, impressed with how quick-witted and intelligent he is. The two stand across from each other as everyone else celebrates in the background with music, dancing, fun, and confetti. Welcome to Vincenzo’s world.

My Thoughts:

Cheers to Vincenzo for never failing to impress and for doing it once again with the wine party that he threw at the end of this episode. I guess that’s the fun and exciting part about both Vincenzo as a character and the drama in general: you never know what kind of trick he has up his sleeves next. You never know for certain what moves he’s going to pull or what his next steps are. Similar to Cha-young, I too was impressed with the idea he came up with, especially considering just how little time he had to come up with something. It’s not a tactic that’s going to work forever per se, but it still bought him, Lawyer Hong, and the Geumga tenants more time to think of something bigger and better for next time.

Rewatching this second episode made me truly appreciate the episode a lot more because of how I managed to catch onto so many important and subtle details. I think the biggest detail that I caught in this episode that I hadn’t before was Cha-young’s conflicting thoughts and actions regarding her father and the situation with Geumga Plaza. She’s on the side of the bad guy in this case, but she can’t help but worry about her father who’s worried about his tenants. As much as she wants to lie and pretend that she’s doing this all for herself and her reputation, she knows that she cares about her father (even with all the bickering and whatnot) deep down. She still is her father’s daughter and she wants to protect him despite all that they’ve gone through. Even though they’re on completely opposite sides of the spectrum in terms of their occupation and philosophy, they are still father and daughter and they have that soft spot for each other.

I didn’t pay as much attention to Cha-young with the first watch, but this second watch made me realize that there is so much more to her than meets the eye. I’ll admit, I thought she was a little too loud and whiny and haughty for me when I first watched episodes 1 and 2 and while she still is some of those things to an extent, she’s also so much more than that. I like that we were shown a more vulnerable side of Cha-young’s character in this episode and that we weren’t lead to believe that she’s completely evil. Yes, she’s working against her father by working for the malicious villains who her father is trying so hard to defeat. It’s not something she’s proud of and she despises it inside. She dreads it every single moment that Managing Partner Han brings it up to her and how weak and powerless her father and the Geumga tenants are. These are things that Cha-young is already well aware of but yet, she doesn’t have the courage to do much about it because she’s working for Babel E&C.

There’s only so much Cha-young can do or control so it’s things like calling her father to urge him to evacuate or driving to Geumga Plaza to check up on her father that proves how she truly feels about all of this. Cha-young is stuck and I would even argue that she wants to help her father out. I mean, if she didn’t, why would she come barging into his house to update about Babel E&C’s plans of demolition? Why would she call her father and plead for him to evacuate? During the meeting at Wusang about Geumga Plaza, she was afraid and worried as to what would happen to her father and the tenants. Episode 2 did a wonderful job in highlighting the contrast between Cha-young’s actions of working in Wusang for Babel E&C and her thoughts in checking up on her father and his Geumga tenants. You truly witnessed her beautiful struggle in this episode.

The plot moved forward by placing Lawyer Choi in Wusang which is going to be an interesting case. She clearly is one fierce and competent woman who isn’t afraid of much. Despite having just joined the law firm, she already has marked her place at the company and is prepared to tackle anything on. The situation with Chairman Han-seo was sort of surprising to me (again, I won’t spoil anything about the person beating up Han-seo at the skating rink). I just assumed that he was the most powerful man at Babel considering he’s the Chairman so I definitely was not expecting him to get beaten up by somebody. Considering how evil, problematic, and shady Wusang is and the countless amount of lives that they’re responsible for, cases like researcher Yoo and his pursuit towards justice is one that I want to end up well but that I also don’t have high hopes for. Wusang is just way too powerful to get anything they want.

Of course, the one thing preventing them from doing so is none other than Vincenzo and man, oh man, do I love him. My favorite about him in this episode was the way he bonded with Lawyer Hong. It was so beautiful and nice to watch the two connect and create a friendship of some sort with each other. Lawyer Hong (along with the rest of the tenants) sort of kept their distance from Vincenzo and didn’t trust him all that much. He was skeptical (rightfully) of Vincenzo and uncertain as to what his intentions could be for intervening with Geumga Plaza. This is probably why it was so rewarding and fun to watch the two bond in this episode. Whether it’s drinking makgeolli or curing their hangovers at Lawyer Hong’s house, the two got to know each other better in a much more genuine way.

The best thing of it all is not just the act of hanging out together that is nice to watch, but also the types of conversations that take place between the two. Lawyer Hong went from being brutally honest with Vincenzo and pushing him away to eventually giving Vincenzo a chance to prove himself. Then he went on to sharing details about himself to Vincenzo that he probably never expected to do. I loved watching how conflicted Lawyer Hong was initially to hand over all his resources on Babel E&C over to Vincenzo, especially considering how skeptical and wary he was of him at first. However, things began to shift the moment Lawyer Hong leaned on Vincenzo which he saw amounted to rewarding results. From teaching Vincenzo some drinking etiquettes to talking about Ms. Oh to sharing his reasoning for the mere existence of Jipuragi, Lawyer Hong showed a new side of himself to Vincenzo once he became confident that he could trust Vincenzo. I loved witnessing the growth of their relationship and its short but sweet evolution. Just like with Cha-young, there’s more than meets the eye with Vincenzo.

Vincenzo has not only gained the trust of Lawyer Hong, but I assume that he’s also now gained the trust of our Geumga tenants with the party that he threw as a temporary distraction against Babel E&C. It won’t last forever and there’s going to be new strategies and solutions set in place to battle against the powerhouse, but surely and slowly, step by step, our Geumga team will get to keep their place if they stand their ground. Let the fun begin.

Recap: Vincenzo (Episode 2) • Drama Milk

The great episodes keep on coming! We left off with Vincenzo showing up at the building to stop the Babel thugs from harassing the tenants. He had to dangle the head thug out the window to make his case. So, lets see what happened next.

VINCENZO RECAP EPISODE 2

THE BUILDING

We open with the thug dangling out the window. The thug agrees to not touch the building while he was dangling, but as soon as he is pulled up, he tells his people to kill them all. But Vincenzo called the press before he came in, so the press is lined outside and the cops come in to tell the thugs to just leave and stop causing trouble.

The tenants are impressed, but they still do not trust Vincenzo.

We find out through Vincenzo that the safe in the basement will cause the entire building to collapse if anyone tries to open it. So they have to demolish the building and remodel it in order to get the gold. But another company (ie Babel) cannot demolish it or they will find the safe.

Before they can demolish the building, Vincenzo still needs to win the tenants trust. He also has to keep the Buddhists from remodeling the floor of their monastery because the safe is right under their floor.

Babel still owns the building technically due to the thugs that made Jo Young-woon sign the paperwork to sell it. Jo Young-woon is fine by the way! he is in the hospital and looks perfectly normal except for a bandage on his head.

Later on, Vincenzo and lawyer Hong Yoo-chan talk in the lawyers office about how Babel is the root of evil. Lawyer Hong still does not like Vincenzo, but Vincenzo gains Hong’s trust by reviewing all the Babel paperwork that Hong has in his office.

Meanwhile, a Babel pharmaceutical researcher disappears. He is a whistleblower for the company so he must be found.

BONDING

Vincenzo and lawyer Hong Yoo-chan become closer because they bond over how bad Babel is and they both want to take down Babel. They visit the Babel construction company and Vincenzo threatens the lawyer ina Mafia way. He is basically like, if you behave like the mafia then I will treat you like the mafia. This makes Hong amazingly. It is an adorable bonding scene for the two of them so Hong invites Vincenzo out drinking.

While Hong Yoo-chan and Vincenzo are out drinking, the babel pharmaceutical whistleblower calls Hong, but he hangs up before Hong can figure out who is calling him.

BABEL LAWYERS

At Babel, the Babel company lawyers are trying to figure out how to blow up the building. They do not care if people are inside or not, joke about casualties, and say 12 people died during another time they did this so this one should be nothing. But Hong Cha-young cares about it because her father could be in the building when they try to demolish it.

Her assistant, Jang Joon-woo, overhears that the demolish time is 11pm the next day, so he runs to tell Hong Cha-young.

Cha-young tries to tell her father this at her family home. Vincenzo is there as well (and sees all Cha-young’s nerdy younger photos). But, the father gets another call from the pharmaceutical whistleblower and leaves to meet with him. So Cha-young tells Vincenzo that the building is going to get demolished by thugs at 11pm.

Vincenzo thinks all night about how to solve this issue. The next day, the tenants meet about what they should do and are annoyed that Vincenzo is following and liking a lot of Instagrammers. But Vincenzo is doing this with a purpose.

THAT NIGHT

That night a lot of things happen at once. The Babel people find out that the pharmaceutical person is missing. Cha-young actually kept that a secret from them. Cha-young ignores her bosses call about it and runs to her father’s building because she is worried about the demolition.

However, all the thugs already have the demolition trucks available and are ready to demolish the building. Cha-young sees them while she is driving, but can’t stop them because they are blocking the street with their huge equipment. So she gets out of her car to run there.

But when she gets to the building she sees that there is a big traditional Sicilian wine party for Instagram Insiders. The mayor, lots of famous Instagrammers, and local politicians are all there enjoying the event. The NIS person is there as well.

So, what happened is that Vincenzo decided to throw a big party with lots of YouTubers/Instagrammers so that the construction company cannot demolish the building because there would be a lot of live streamers recording what is going on. This is how the NIS person found him, because he saw the Instagram post invite after running a face recognition software program over the internet.

Confetti is popped to celebrate the party and falls all over everyone. Hong Yoo-chan toasts to Vincenzo from the building. He looks highly impressed and like their bond is only getting stronger. His daughter is impressed with Vincenzo as well and likes the Instagram post. She smiles as she looks at Vincenzo looking all sharp at the party. Vincenzo sees her as well and raises his glass in a toast to her like he is Leonardo DiCaprio in The Great Gatsby.

Another side storyline I did not mention is of a prosecutor named Choi Myung-hee. Cho Myung-hee is a great prosecutor, but is mistreated by the Korean prosecutor office. She is given all the unwinnable cases, but as soon as she makes them winnable, her higher-ups give the case to someone else to take the credit. So she quits and joins Babel.

Good god I love a smart show. Y’all, I love this show! It is so clever and fun. I am really enjoying myself while watching it. One thing I think I might really love is how Vincenzo appears to want to help the Italian chef learn how to cook proper mama’s Italian food and is starting to go grab something to eat there every day to make him a better cook. He isn’t helping him in any way, he is really just telling him how bad it tastes, lol, but it appears that he is doing it to help the chef improve.

I also am really enjoying the bonding that Vincenzo and lawyer Hong Yoo-chan are starting to have in this show. It was so adorable when Lawyer Hong was teaching Vincenzo how to drink like a Korean, for instance, he told him he had to turn to the side to drink, but Vincenzo turned all the way around to the back, so lawyer Hong had to tell him, no, no, just to the side. Y’all, that was adorable.

The prosecutor introduced in this episode has me thrown for a loop. I thought, at first, she would join the good guys and work with hong Yoo-chan and his team. But she joined Babel! So perhaps she is at Babel so that the daughter, Hong Cha-young will leave Babel and go to work with her father to take down Babel? that is my current theory.

The pharmaceutical whistleblowers appears to be something huge that will bring the team fully together, me thinks. I have a feeling that the daughter might join her father’s law firm because of this whistleblower case. Hopefully her assistant (Taecyeon) also joins her because he is adorable in this drama.

Alright, we plan on covering this show on our YouTube with mini recaps and preview breakdowns to enjoy all the fun this show has to offer. But videos might not go up for another week because I have a deadline on another project I am working on at the moment. So look for them starting next week!

RECAPS

Vincenzo Episode 2

Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong Ki) bloodies Park Seok Do’s nose and hangs the stunned man from the window. Mr. Park’s thugs approach, but back away when Vincenzo states he’ll drop Mr. Park; who clamors for them to back off. Vincenzo tells Mr. Park the building was purchase through coercion. He won’t forgive that. Vincenzo swears he’ll get the building back and make them all pay. In Italian, Vincenzo declares, the building belongs to him. He offers to bring Mr. Park to safety IF he promises to not attack with his thugs. Vincenzo demands Mr. Park’s pinky swear. Once pulled to safety Mr. Park orders his thugs to attack. The police arrive and recommend Mr. Park leave as there are reporters outside the building. Mr. Park promises retribution.

I’ve never seen a pinky swear with one person dangling off a building.

Resident Jipuragi Law Firm lawyer, Mr. Hong, tells Vincenzo they need to talk. Mr. Hong calls Vincenzo irresponsible for stirring up trouble. Vincenzo barks that the former building owner, Mr. Cho, was coerced into selling by the Babel Group thugs. Vincenzo swears he’ll get the building back. Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin), Woosung Law Firm lawyer and Mr. Hong’s daughter, states reversing the sale is impossible. Vincenzo stalks away. The reporters make their way into Mr. Hong’s office and ask to speak the tipster, Vincenzo.

Cha Young follows Vincenzo and wonders why he’s so upset about the building’s sale. He’s made a pretty profit. Vincenzo counters the coercive sale is not acceptable. Cha Young muses that Vincenzo wants something else. She walks away sure there is more to the story.

The tenants discuss the situation. They declare Vincenzo should never have been trusted. Mr. Hong points out they need to learn if Vincenzo is trust worthy or not.

Reporter Jang Joon Woo tries to get a politician to cooperate. He refuses. She points out those that don’t cooperate with her regret it.

Vincenzo visits a battered Mr. Cho (recall he was side swiped by a pickup truck) in the hospital. Mr. Cho recommends that Vincenzo demolish the building before the Babel Group does and finds the secret room filled with gold. Vincenzo remembers there is a special feature of the room.

Flashback…3 years ago…After telling the Chinese business man about building and hiding his gold and treasures in the secret room, Vincenzo shares the room will have a special feature. It will be built into the building’s structure, so if the secret room is stressed, the entire building collapses. In addition, anyone that knows about the room including those that build it, must be eliminated. With these parameters, the only way anyone other than the Chinese business man can access the room, is after building demolition.

Flashback…1 year ago…Vincenzo sees an article that the Chinese business man has died of a heart attack.

Flashback…10 months ago…Vincenzo asks Mr. Cho if anyone other than the two of them knows about the secret room. Mr. Cho confirms no one else knows. Vincenzo suggests they access the secret room to fund their retirements.

Flashback…3 months ago…Mr. Cho asks Vincenzo what to tell Babel Group about their offer to purchase the building. Vincenzo wants Babel Group to believe they will rebuild the building. He notes they’ll only need 2 days to plunder the secret room after the building has been demolished.

Vincenzo watches the monk as the basement tenant, who unknowingly meditates on the secret vault. He knows he must get rid of the tenants and demolish the building. Tenant Lee Cheol Wook arrives and informs Vincenzo a boiler needs to be installed to make the monk’s meditation on the cold floor more comfortable. Vincenzo counters the building will be demolished, so the expense is silly. He offers to purchase the monk an electric heating pad. The monk isn’t interested.

Boss Han Seung Hyeok tells Cha Young she’s thwarted her father’s defense for the plaintiff with her courtroom moves. As the boss exits intern Jang Joon Woo (TaecYeon) reports a researcher for the Babel Group has gone missing.

Agent An Ki Seok (International Crime Response Agency) bring his boss, Director Tae, information about Vincenzo. He seeks approval to investigate Vincenzo. Director Tae refuses citing Vincenzo’s limited threat. Agent An points out Vincenzo works for the mob. Director Tae doesn’t change his mind. Agent An vows to do investigate on his own.

Mr. Hong sighs that his case against Babel Group is seriously damaged. His assistant, Mr. Nam, offers to clean up the paperwork. Mr. Hong declares they are down but not out. Vincenzo enters and requests the paperwork on Babel Group. Mr. Hong realizes Vincenzo wants to mine the documentation to help himself. Vincenzo points out what he learns can help both of them. He suggests Mr. Hong give him a chance. Mr. Hong relents and tells Mr. Nam to give Vincenzo the documentation.

Cha Young warns the scientists that if their AWOL coworker suddenly talks to the wrong people, the case against Babel Group could be lost. Intern Jang warns the scientist to keep their mouth shuts.

After the meeting, Intern Jang wonders if the AWOL coworker will go to her father and reveal the illegal activities of Babel Group. She shudders in horror. Cha Young spies the Babel Group Chairman Jang Han Seo and scurries to introduce herself. He’s standoffish and tells her to wrap up the case well. Intern Jang isn’t impressed. Cha Young remind him those with power and money can behave however they wish. She is spooked about the AWOL coworker turning whistle blower.

Vincenzo studies all the documentation on Babel Group.

Ms. Jang isn’t happy when her next assignment is to mitigate sexual harassment charges for her boss’s nephew.

Cha Young arrives at her father’s office and isn’t happy to see Vincenzo studying the documentation on Babel Group. Her father notes Vincenzo believes one must no one’s enemy. Vincenzo comments that Babel Group uses the same tactics as the Mafia. Mr. Hong notes his daughter’s law firm, spends all their time cleaning up after Babel Group and protecting them. Cha Young sighs. Vincenzo tells Mr. Hong he’s got what he needs and exits. Cha Young chases after him.

She wants to know what Vincenzo is planning. The fake Italian chef refuses to cook for Vincenzo. Recall Vincenzo spit out the pasta the previous day. He suggests Vincenzo eat at the snack bar. The owner doesn’t want to serve Vincenzo, but Cha Young intervenes. She advises Vincenzo to return to Italy and not waste his time going against Babel Group. She points out there are legal Mafia groups throughout Korea from the Government offices to company boardrooms. When the owner’s son enters, the owner smells smoke on him and they fight. The food ends up in Vincenzo’s lap. He is not amused.

After she sees off her boss, Ms. Jang vows not to be used to cover up their messes, instead she’ll destroy them. Just then Lawyer Han pulls up and invites her to drink and eat. He points out Ms. Jang’s boss uses power for his benefit. Lawyer Han points out that she’ll be discarded when she’s served her purpose. Lawyer Han believes he can leverage Babel Group to take down Ms. Jang’s boss. Lawyer Han declares cleaning up Babel Group’s messes pays well. Ms. Jang asks about Chairman Jang antics.

Chairman Jang suffers a beating for his mistakes at the company.

Vincenzo dreams of the bloody past job he held.

Vincenzo asks the fake Italian Chef where he learned to cook. A local eatery is the answer. Vincenzo orders risotto. He takes a bite and spits it out much to the chagrin of the chef. He tells the chef he cooks awful food and leaves.

Vincenzo tells Mr. Hong they must take a road trip. They arrive request to see Mr. Na in investing. The answer is no as they have no appointment. Vincenzo shows the indictment he’ll file. Mr. Na meets with them. He asks to see the indictment. The envelope is empty. Vincenzo wants Mr. Na to cancel the contract. Mr. Na scoffs they aren’t in Italy. Vincenzo grabs Mr. Na and warns him they aren’t going to take it anymore. Mr. Hong can’t help but be impressed. As they walk through the lobby, Mr. Hong declares he’ll use some of Vincenzo’s lines in future negotiations. He chuckles. Vincenzo smiles.

Ms. Jang quits. She tells her boss she’s tired of cleaning up messes. Her boss notes she’s going to do the same somewhere else. Ms. Jang agrees but notes, she’ll have more latitude and money for her effects. She strides out of the building and dumps the contents of her desk box in a garbage can.

Ms. Jang joins the Woosung Law Firm team. Lawyer Han welcomes her warmly and introduces her to the team. Learning Ms. Jang is a senior lawyer the team isn’t excited but dutifully clamp their welcome. Ms. Jang tells them small steps make big progress and working together will get the job done. She leaves the room. Lawyer Han scurries after her. Cha Young rolls her eyes in disgust. Cha Young’s coworkers claim to be upset that Cha Young has been usurped. Cha Young counters she knows this is a happy moment for them.

Back at Geumga Plaza, Vincenzo and Mr. Hong find some tenants pretending to be zombie for an upcoming audition.

Mr. Hong agrees with Vincenzo’s assessment that Babel Group will forcibly evict and demolish the building quickly.

Over drinks, Mr. Hong admits he admires Vincenzo’s willingness to tackle BG. Vincenzo asks if Mr. Hong has any individual clients. Mr. Hong shares he has 1 person, a woman wrongfully convicted of murder, but refuses to fight against verdict, instead accepting it and her pancreatic cancer. Vincenzo asks why she would do that. Mr. Hong states the woman believes it is punishment for abandoning her son in the past. Mr. Hong notes some accept and other refuse to accept even when they are guilty. Mr. Hong says the weak suffer. Vincenzo admits he’s seen that first hand since he returned to Korea. Mr. Hong notes some feel weak and helpless forever. Vincenzo asks about Mr. Hong’s firm’s name. Mr. Hong shares it means last chance and his clients cling to him hoping he can change their judicial fate. Mr. Hong gets a phone call but the person doesn’t speak. Mr. Hong notes Vincenzo seems more genuine. Mr. Hong schools Vincenzo on drinking etiquette.

Nice vibe between these two.

At the next meeting, Lawyer Han explains while they can’t demolish the building right away, they can bring in equipment to clean up the area. That equipment accidentally damages the building forcing the tenants to leave the unsafe structure. Lawyer Han notes Cha Young’s father is opposing BG, again. The room chuckles. Cha Young is irked.

After the meeting Intern Jang expresses sympathy for the tenants. Cha Young snaps they had every opportunity to settle but didn’t. She declares their lawyer (her father) isn’t helping his clients understand the reality of their situation.

Vincenzo wakes after sleeping on the floor. Mr. Hong calls knowing he’s got a handover. He texts his address to Vincenzo and invites him for a meal. Vincenzo arrives and sees photos of Cha Young. He notices she looked different.

Lawyer Han calls Chairman Jang to report the demolition will begin tomorrow at 11am. IT overhears as he tidies the office. He scurries to Vincenzo to inform her of the deadline.

Vincenzo admits Mr. Hong’s soup is helping. Cha Young barges in declaring now is not the time for soup. Mr. Hong gets a call and steps away from Vincenzo and Cha Young. It’s the missing scientist willing to share details. He asks to meet Mr. Hong in person. Mr. Hong quickly agrees and says he’ll be there shortly. He tells Vincenzo and Cha Young he must leave on an urgent matter. Cha Young is upset that she couldn’t relay the news. She tells Vincenzo the building will be demolished tomorrow. He notes she seems upset. She claims that if her father gets hurt during demolition, it reflects badly on her.

Mr. Hong arrives at the dock to meet the missing scientist. He enters the hotel and makes his way to the room. The scientist lets him in.

Vincenzo considers what to do with the imminent demolition. He wonders how to stop it.

The next morning the tenants wonder if they have any options. They are upset about losing their homes. Mr. Nam walks over to Vincenzo who is liking photos on-line.

Agent An is excited when his search yields results.

Mr. Hong enters the building to find tenants packing and preparing to move. Mr. Hong wonders what they can do about the demolition.

Cha Young frets.

Lawyer Han tells Ms. Jang she’ll meet Chairman Jang in two days’ time. Lawyer Han is dismayed to learn a Babel Group scientist is missing.

Cha Young frets. She calls her father and tells him to get out of the building before the demolition team gets there in 30 minutes. Her father says she’s a distraction and he’s turning off his phone. Cha Young yells at her phone. Intern Jang tosses Cha Young her purse as she dashes out of the office. When Lawyer Han calls, Cha Young says she’s got other matters to attend to.

Mr. Park and his goons along with the equipment take off for the building.

Cha Young drives and sees the demolition equipment heading down the road. She speeds up. She arrives at the building just after the equipment. She finds a neighborhood party going on. The goons and Mr. Park arrive chocked to find the well-attended party full of neighborhood attendees. Dress in a tux, Vincenzo thanks people for attending and encourages them to have fun. Agent An spies him from across the room. Mr. Hong smiles at Vincenzo for his effective avoidance.

Flashback…Vincenzo watches a celebration video and realizes that could work. He tells the tenants they are going to throw a party. He sends out invites all across the neighborhood.

Mr. Hong spots his daughter. She likes Vincenzo’s invite. She watches Vincenzo mingle. He notices her watching him. They smile at each other.

My Thoughts

Playful side to this series. Writer Park Jae Bum continues to mix humor into the story allowing the more eccentric characters and their actions to be more acceptable and less ridiculous. Director Kim Hee Won (Money Flower) injected music and snappy camera cuts to edge the line between campy and drama. This could be serious revenge drama, but the humor brightens it up, and the eclectic characters lighten up their own situations. Vincenzo bonded with Mr. Hong. Who doesn’t love male bonding? Vincenzo’s motives are self-serving but he is touching other’s lives and they just might touch him too.

Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong Ki) figured out a way to stop the demolition. Vincenzo pulled a party out of his hat to block the demolition. It has to be said, Song Joong Ki looks fabulous in a tux. I loved the scenes with Vincenzo and Mr. Hong. Vincenzo learned that Mr. Hong is representing his mother who refuses a retrial and has accepted her impending death by cancer. This peeled back a bit of humanity in Vincenzo. I enjoy his quirks – the frustration that can quickly peak, the sprinkled Italian phrases, his droll humor, etc. I’m betting there is a person with feeling under all those suave good looks.

Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin) is tweaked for her father’s opposition to BG. Cha Young showed she was worried about her father. She believed Bagel Group would steam roll over her father and the tenants. She was right. No one counted on Vincenzo throwing a lavish party to freeze the demolition scheduled for that evening. Cha Young’s embarrassment over her old photos made her more human.

I rank this episode as almost very good, 7.5 on a 10-point scale.

Vincenzo: Episode 2 Review

Vincenzo Episode 2 Recap

Looking back from episode 1, Vincenzo’s goal is to get access from the gold hidden in the secret room of the basement at Geumga Plaza. Though he is a very skilled man, it won’t be easy to go onboard right away with his mission and it will take a bit of his time to gain the trust of his allies.

Episode 2 began with a frantic start when CEO Park Seok-do was seen dangling at the edge of the building by Vincenzo. CEO Park was hanged by Vincenzo for he cannot accept the illegal buying of Geumga Plaza. Begging for his life, CEO Park promised that his men will leave if Vincenzo lifts him. As soon as Vincenzo lifts him from the window, he ordered his men to kill him. Attempting to get rid of Vincenzo was unsuccessful, for the police arrive and told CEO Park that reporters have flocked the plaza.

As soon as CEO Park and his men left, this is where the leading actress shows off her acting skills. Cha-young pulls Vincenzo aside and accused him that he orchestrated everything. Vincenzo left the scene getting tired of the accusations to him and only promises to get the building back. Cha-young later learned that Vincenzo was the one who tipped the reporters.

She also met Babel’s Chairman Jang portrayed by actor Kwak Dong-Yeon and introduces herself as the lead lawyer on his subsidiary case. Cha-young also got worked up after the meeting with the Wusang team about the upcoming demolition, and she was furious that the tenants are only making things worst by staying at the building.

Being the leading lady, there’s a lot of expectation from Jeon Yeo-been as she portrays the role of Hong Cha-young, a pragmatic lawyer who works at the firm favored by the rich but morally dubious client. I’m hoping that Jeon Yeo-been can present her role well and settle in real quick with her character. Her acting is exaggerated to the point that it cringes and this issue, can drive viewers away and lost interest in investing their time in this series.

Another turned of events from this scene was when Myung-hee who used to work at a Laundromat turned out to be a prosecutor who can dig any dirt from anyone. She became the new senior attorney at Wusang Law Firm, which was supposedly given to Cha-young. From her identity being a low-key worker at a laundromat to instantly becoming a senior attorney, we can assume that Myung-hee will become an important character in this series and she can probably catch some big fish.

As Cha-young informs Vincenzo that the demolition will begin the following night, she also pleads to get the tenants out of the building. The following day, Vincenzo and Nam Joo-sung gathered the tenants to tell them the news. Everyone was furious as they watched Vincenzo sitting comfortably while browsing Instagram and liking photos instead of finding a way to solve the problem. The day of the demolition arrives and Cha-young was worried that tenants didn’t intend to leave. When she got to Geumga Plaza, CEO Park’s men also got off, but they are all confused as they watched a Sicilian wine event held outside.

The ending scene of episode 2 showed a rom-com side. Vincenzo was able to find a way to stop the demolition by organizing a Sicilian wine event that filled the entire plaza of people enjoying the festive night. Cha-young was left in awe and smiles when she saw Vincenzo well dressed in a tuxedo and having a chat with decent guests.
