This is a superb condition 1958 all tube Stereophonic High Fidelity by Pilot SA-260 Power Amp. The 60 watt 4x EL34 amp pushed an array of 8 speakers, 2x 12″, 2x 8″, 2x 6″ and 2x 3″ tweeters with outstanding musical tone and power.
The 1958 PILOT SA-260 Stereophonic Power Amp is a clean strong amp with 4x EH EL34 power tubes, 2x RCA Black Plate 5U4GB Rectifiers, 2x 12AX7 and a 12AU7. The pre-amp tubes are Raytheon Matsushita made on Mullard equipment which are excellent and very quiet in this amp. The unit has external bias and balance controls which make adjustments simple and easy when changing output tubes. A conservative factory rated 30W per channel from the EL34’s with excellent iron, low noise and high end build qualities. The chassis is near mint and all of the silkscreens are in excellent condition. The late 50’s Pilot amps will give all the Mac units a run for their money at half the price and in my opinion their audio quality are very similar.
This SA-260 chassis is the cleanest I have seen and puts out big bold audio. Sams sheets are available on the web. The amps tube set is new and fully tested. This amp is in great working order and at the same time now 55 plus years old so recapping and general service will be needed at some point and is always recommended to be done safely. It is always recommend updating power cords on these vintage electronic items.

This amp is in great working order and at the same time now 55 plus years old so recapping and general service will be needed at some point and is always recommended to be done safely. PRESENTING A NICE EXAMPLE OF THE SUPER RARE 1959 PILOT SA-260 TUBE POWER AMPLIFIER. WE VARIACED UP AND IT PASSES A GOOD SIGNAL WITH NO HUM. COSMETICS ARE DECENT OTHER THAN THE DISCOLORATION ON THE FRONT OF THE CHASSIS PANEL. MOST OF THE LETTERING IS IN GOOD SHAPE. ALL TUBES ARE VINTAGE AND TEST GOOD. MULLARD EL34s. TWO ARE RCA BRANDED MULLARDS. THWE OTHERS ARE TWO 12AX7s and ONE 12AU7. ALTHOUGH THE AMP IS WORKING. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND REPLACING ALL THE WAX CAPS AND BIAS SUPPLY CAPS BECAUSE OF AGE TO BE SURE ITS UP TO FACTORY SPECS. THE AMP WAS NICELY DESIGNED WITH 2 RECTIFIERS , EL34 AND BIAS /BALANCE CONTROLS FOR EACH CHANNEL, IT IS ONE OF THE BEST AMPS OF ITS ERA AND JUST DO NOT SURFACE VERY OFTEN. DEFINATELY THE RAREST PILOT POWER AMP.
