We would love the chance to be able to repeat this event again in the future. We also had a lot to learn from the event as well. Future projects tend to be more thoroughly planned. However, the day was all about the workers. Making their day a little better is the least we could have done for everything they have already built for us. In the end, this project speaks to what Kamayan, in essence, is, a bunch of young people still developing their craft but using their collective minds and resources to do something more. Construction Catering is an Irish owned contract catering company specializing in the design, set up and installation of food production kitchens on green field construction sites nationwide.

The company was set up in 2014 by Bryan Greene and Ronan Hanrahan who saw a niche in the market for specialist caterers in the construction industry. The company quickly landed two large contracts in the Poolbeg Incinerator Dublin and Regeneron Limerick. Both these sites cater for over 1,000 workers on a daily basis. In 2015 Construction Catering were successful in gaining the Bristol Myres Squibb site in Blanchardstown which caters for 2,000 workers and with the launch of our new “Flavour” onsite catering brand in 2016 we were successful in winning the Facebook Contract.

The company continues to move from strength to strength by investing in quality staff, trained to the highest standards with a view to supplying a high quality and nutritional daily food service to help keep onsite workers morale at its highest possible level. As our logo suggests “our food is your foundation”.

We are a VAT registered company and our tax clearance certificate is available on request.

How to Start a Catering Business for Construction Sites

Open a catering business that focuses on construction sites. Mobile food trucks deliver a variety of prepared food such as breakfast items, sandwiches, snacks and drinks. You can own and operate a catering truck on a part-time or full-time basis depending on your schedule. With little overhead and marketing costs, you can start running a successful construction site catering business in very little time. Purchase a truck and obtain the licensing needed to sell food to get started.

Apply for a business license to start a catering business for construction sites. Contact your local small business administration office or county clerk’s office for more information. Apply for an employer identification number (EIN) from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) if you hire workers. Use the EIN on state and federal tax forms, business registration forms and other business documents. Register your catering business with the secretary of state’s office in your state to form a limited liability company (LLC), corporation or partnership. Contact your local health department for food retail and distribution licensing requirements. Licenses may be required for food managers, food handlers and food distribution. You may have to complete training and pass an exam to qualify for a license.

Buy a new or used catering truck. Carefully inspect the truck to ensure it is in good condition. Most catering trucks have enough space to store and prepare food. Some trucks include small appliances such as refrigerators and microwaves. Contact the health department to schedule an inspection of your catering truck.

Determine the types of foods to sell from your catering truck. Food items may include hot and cold lunches, sandwiches, snack foods and drinks. Contact local restaurants and schools to find a place to prepare these foods. Many public institutions rent kitchen space to caterers and others in the food retail business. Contact the health department if you want to prepare food at home to determine if additional licensing and inspections are needed.
