Vincenzo episode 17 recap – Jang Han-seo shoots [spoiler] in thrilling return

4 Summary Episode 17 proves that absence makes the heart grow fonder — after a scheduled break, the thrilling k-drama series returns and reminds audiences why it’s one of the best shows this year.

This recap of Netflix k-drama series Vincenzo episode 17 contains significant spoilers.

After a scheduled week break, Vincenzo is back, and we’ve sorely missed this k-drama series!

Episode 17 opens up with a vengeful and emotional Vincenzo marching into Jang Han-seok’s place with the man that killed his mother — Choi Myung-hee ordered the kill. Vincenzo holds his gun and aims it at all of them as they cower and panic. He shoots in random places to scare them. He tells them that killing his mother was foolish; he explains that he had a job to do, and if he had killed them before, it would have inconvenienced him. Vincenzo declares that he will kill them, but not now. He wants it to be a slow death. Before he leaves, Vincenzo shoots Jang Han-seok at the side of his head to wound his ear.

Afterwards, Jang Han-seok is furious, but Choi Myung-hee tells him that she will take care of Vincenzo and that he should focus on taking care of Babel Group.

We now have a completely different Vincenzo — episode 17 demonstrates why he was so feared and respected in Italy.

Vincenzo finally grieves

Vincenzo returns to the hospital, and Cha-young is crying. The exhaustion of recent events weighs on her. Vincenzo looks at the body of his dead mother, and he confirms her identity. He asks for a little longer with her, and he finally cries — he calls her “mom” just like he said he would before she was killed. Episode 17 quickly moves to the funeral. There’s a somberness as everyone grieves for Vincenzo. Later on, Vincenzo blames the death of his mother on himself and calls this world Hell. Cha-young disagrees, believing Vincenzo gave his mother eternal happiness and that once the hurting stops, he’ll understand. She comforts him as he cries. Afterward, the plaza residents tell Vincenzo that they are all part of the Cassano family and will support him.

It’s a tough part of the story to take, especially because Vincenzo never had the chance to have a conversation with his mother, both understanding that they know who each other are.

This really is war — Vincenzo tells Jang Han-seok that he’s started a game of chess

And then, episode 17 teases the audience and hints at what we can expect in the final four chapters.

Vincenzo rings Jang Han-seok, and they both trade war of words. There’s plenty of games between them now. Vincenzo states he’s starting to play a game of chess with him, and he’s going to get rid of his pieces one by one and that he’s already losing. Vincenzo wants to humiliate him.

The Babel Tower event

And the game of chess begins immediately — you can tell the characters that oppose Vincenzo are starting to regret crossing with him.

Jang Han-seok attends an event, and the plaza residents infiltrate and go undercover under the command of Vincenzo. The power of the Cassano family is at full throttle. Jang Han-seok and his brother give a presentation regarding Babel Tower. They give the high-profile guests an opportunity to win units in the tower.

Suddenly a man walks into the event, and Choi Myung-hee is immediately shaken as she knows him. He claims to be strapped with a bomb vest. He then reveals that’s there’s a bomb in the cake and that he’s doing as instructed. This is all part of Vincenzo’s plans — the bombs are supposedly all fake.

A moment of pause for Cha-young

The man with the bomb vest claims that the replica Babel Tower will explode in ten seconds, but in a strange turn of events, he explodes and collapses. Vincenzo tells Cha-young that the man is dead and that he always wanted to throw the lions who hurt her father into the hunting den — the man they sent in is the same man that killed her father. Cha-young isn’t coping well with the situation but then tells Vincenzo she hasn’t changed her mind — she wants them to pay for what they did, but you can sense a slight hesitation in the character; she doesn’t want to go as far as Vincenzo is.

Forcing guests to cut ties with Babel Group

Vincenzo texts everyone at the event that the bomb in the cake can wipe out everyone in the room. He asks them all to find their Babel Group agreement, chew it, and swear on their knees. All the high profile guests chew their agreements and swear to cut ties with Babel Group. Vincenzo tells Cha-young that it will be easy to nullify Babel Tower now. The guests are told to do everything they can to remove the details of this party — the doors unlock, and they are allowed to leave. The timer on the bomb goes down, and Jang Han-seok and his group learn that it was fake. It’s revealed afterwards that Jang Han-seo is helping Vincenzo against his brother.

Afterwards, the plaza residents use the footage from the event to blackmail the high-profile guests to stop the redevelopment of the plaza and to nullify plans for the Babel Tower. Meanwhile, Jang Han-seok tells his brother to run Babel Bio.

This was a tense moment as we are not sure what state of mind Vincenzo is in.

Offering to be the unbreakable shield

In the depths of madness, it’s easy to forget that Mr Han is trying to remove his association with Jang Han-seok after seeing his violent and corrupt ways.

Mr Han meets political leader Park Seung-jun. He wants to talk to him about the Guillotine file. Seung-jun is surprised that the Guillotine file and gold bars are buried and that an Italian lawyer has control over it. Mr Han tells him it’s buried underneath Babel and offers to be his “unbreakable shield”.

Park Seung-jun sends his assistant to a meeting with Jang Han-seok and tells him to stop talking back — he recommends that Jang Han-seo takes over as chairman and that Mr Han becomes Chief Prosecutor. Mr Han plotted all this with Jang Han-seo so they can have their power. Mr Han has also found a crime to frame Vincenzo with Interpol.

Planting a mole

In a long-winded way, Vincenzo episode 17 describes how Vincenzo recruited Director Tae Jong-gu of the International Organized Crime Bureau and asked the man to form a relationship with Jang Han-seok. As part of the plan, they ask Tae Jong-gu to make sure no one goes after Vincenzo — to scare people off, they claim that Vincenzo is dangerous globally.

The ending

Back as chairman, Jang Han-seo revels in his glory. Meanwhile, Mr Han holds a press conference as the new Chief Prosecutor.

Jang Han-seo rings Vincenzo and asks to join him at the ice skating rink. When he arrives, it’s revealed to be a trap as he points the gun at the Italian lawyer, but Vincenzo points a gun back. Vincenzo tells Jang Han-seo that he’s just like his brother. Jang Han-seo tells Vincenzo that his gun is empty and he was trying to scare him. Interpol head on to the rink and tell him to drop his weapon.

Vincenzo moves his gun slightly, but as he does, Jang Han-seo shoots his pistol and hits the Italian lawyer in the shoulder. He collapses to the floor, and blood spreads everywhere.

Surely he’s not dead?

Vincenzo episode 17 proves that absence makes the heart grow fonder — after a scheduled break, the thrilling k-drama series returns and reminds audiences why it’s one of the best shows this year.

Additional points

The plaza residents dress in similar ways to represent the Cassano family.

After analyzing the Guillotine file further, Vincenzo and Cha-young learn the most frequently used key phrase is “Innovative Urban Development Corporation” (IUDC). Babel and IUDC are working together.

The Ending Of Vincenzo Season 1 Explained

Revenge is one of the oldest subjects in fiction, because it’s an inherently volatile concept. All of us can understand the need for revenge. However, even when it’s justified, getting revenge has a way of warping people. Can we get revenge and still remain the person we used to be? That’s the question at the heart of “Vincenzo,” a hit new Korean mafia drama that concluded its first season on May 2, 2021.

“Vincenzo” follows a South Korea-born mafia consiglieri named Vincenzo (neé Park Joo-Hyung), who arrives in Seoul with the goal of recovering 1.5 tons of gold stashed inside the Gemuga Plaza skyscraper, which the corrupt real-estate company The Babel Group has taken over. He teams up with an ambitious young lawyer named Han Cha-young, whose father The Babel Group has murdered.

After an action-packed 20 episodes, Vincenzo’s season finale delivers not just a high body count, but a definitive answer to its central question. Sadly, it looks like “Vincenzo” won’t be coming back for season 2. But there’s still a lot to unpack from the season 1 finale. Here’s what it all means.

Han-seo reveals to Vincenzo and Cha-young that he is the one who called in the tip to the fire brigade. Vincenzo decides to visit his mother but arrives at the hospital to find that she has been murdered. With Ahn Gi-seok’s help, Vincenzo locates his mother’s murderer, chases him to Han-seok’s property and kills the murderer in front of Han-seok, Han-seo, Myung-hee and Seung-hyuk. He promises to come for them soon, firing a parting shot at Han-seok.

17 “Episode 17” Kim Hee-won Park Jae-bum April 24, 2021 ( ) 2.719[32]

A funeral is held for Oh Gyeong-ja. A party is held for the corrupt officials bidding on office space inside Babel Tower. Residents from Geumga Plaza infiltrate the event as various support staff. After the bidding closes, one of Myung-hee’s former “crystal balls” appears with bombs strapped to his chest, saying that he has been threatened and that if the assembled members do not agree to tear up their contracts and cut ties with Babel group, the room will be blown up by a bomb in a cake. As a show, he indicates that a model of Babel Tower will explode, but is instead himself blown up by Vincenzo. Cha-young is horrified by this but reaffirms her commitment to getting revenge on the men who killed her father. The officials at the party receive text messages telling them to tear up and eat the contracts, announcing who they are, which they do. The doors to the room are opened and the assembled guests flee. The timer on the cake reaches zero and a spray of liquid is emitted rather than an explosion. The second “crystal ball” finds Myung-hee but is later killed by her. Han-seo and Vincenzo play hockey together and Han-seo gives Vincenzo some inside information. Residents from Geumga Plaza threaten the officials at the party with video footage of the event. Seung-hyuk arranges a meeting with Park Seung-joon and informs him of the location of the Guillotine file. A second party is held with corrupt officials at Han-seok’s home. Director Tae is working with Vincenzo and is recording this meeting. Kim Seok-woo (on advice from Candidate Park) promotes Seung-hyuk to Chief Prosecutor of Namdongbu and re-instates Han-seo as chairman of Babel Group. A trap is set for Vincenzo by Myung-hee and Seung-hyuk with Paolo, with Interpol arriving at the ice rink where Vincenzo and Han-seo are playing. Han-seo appears to shoot Vincenzo in the shoulder.

18 “Episode 18” Kim Hee-won Park Jae-bum April 25, 2021 ( ) 3.109[33]

Han-seo tells Han-seok, Myung-hee and Seung-hyuk what happens at the ice rink, saying that the agents are overpowered by Vincenzo’s men who were already at the rink. The officers were then taken to a warehouse where the Interpol officers were killed and the Korean officers were threatened. Han-seo was let off with a parting shot. This is later shown to be a fabrication – Han-seo and Vincenzo planned the whole thing: the police officers were sent off with evidence of bribery and corruption by Paolo and the Jason Fund. Officials who were present at the party at Han-seok’s home are gathered, where a clip recorded by Director Tae is played aloud. Vincenzo and Cha-young file a lawsuit alleging that the approval process for Babel Tower was corrupt. Vincenzo meets with Chief Prosecutor Han and threatens him to find a reason to send Han-seok to prison. Han-seok is attacked in his home. Cho Young-woon is kidnapped by Kim Seok-woo to find the person who built the security system for the vault underneath Geumga Plaza. Han-seok is sent to jail for his own safety, where he is visited by Vincenzo who reveals that he is like a sated cat playing with Han-seok. Luca arrives in Korea, informing Vincenzo that he is needed to save the Cassano family back in Italy from the Luciano family. Vincenzo prepares to leave Korea for two weeks. Kim Seok-woo finds out that it was Seo Mi-ri who designed the vault and forces her to open it. They find out that the vault is empty when they open it. Seo Mi-ri flees and is saved from Kim Seok-woo’s goons by the timely arrival of Vincenzo.

19 “Episode 19” Kim Hee-won Park Jae-bum May 1, 2021 ( ) 3.075[34]

Vincenzo is overpowered by Kim Seok-woo’s goons, but the residents of Geumga Plaza arrive. It is revealed that many of them have skills in fighting and eventually subdue all of the goons. The gold had been removed by Vincenzo – the monks reveal that they know about the vault but not its contents, so with their and Seo Mi-ri’s help, the gold had been moved already. Vincenzo reveals that he did not leave Korea but instead paid the Lucianos to leave them alone. At the trial of Geumga Plaza Residents vs Babel Tower, Vincenzo is called by Cha-young as the first witness and shows the video from the two parties, with Han-seo, Han-seok, Myung-hee and Seung-hyuk’s faces blurred out. The approvals for Babel Tower are overturned. Vincenzo tells Han-seo that he should leave the country for his safety, but Han-seo refuses. Myung-hee fabricates evidence that she was the one who set Han-seok up, which allows her and Han-seok to swap places in prison. Prosecutor Jung is celebrating his promotion when he is confronted by Vincenzo on the balcony, who kills him and makes it look like a suicide. Cha-young heads to a law school get-together, where she is kidnapped by Han-seok. Han-seok then kidnaps Han-seo as well. Vincenzo receives a package with the jewellery he purchased for Cha-young covered in blood. Han-seo and Cha-young wake up at Han-seok’s home. Han-seok calls Vincenzo, informing him of where they are. Vincenzo arrives. Han-seok tells Han-seo that if he kills Vincenzo, he will be allowed to live. Han-seo lunges at Han-seok instead, giving Vincenzo enough time to free Cha-young and attempt to escape. Han-seok shoots at Vincenzo but hits Cha-young instead.

Vincenzo – K-Drama Ending Explained

How does Vincenzo end?

We’ve covered the ending pretty substantially in our episode 20 recap. The link to that can be found at the bottom of this page!

Long story short though, Vincenzo thwarts the threat of Han-Seok and the other Babel Group cronies. He tortures Han-Seok and kills him. Vincenzo flees back to Italy to evade the police, where he grows from consigliere to crime boss.

His time in Korea has softened him slightly though, with Vincenzo turning his attention to the “garbage” of the world. He wants to take them out before they hurt any innocent people.

Who dies in the Vincenzo finale?

There are a whole string of deaths in the final chapter, starting with Prosecutor Jung thrown off the rooftop onto the hood of his car in episode 19. This essentially paved way for a host of other characters to die in the finale.

Han-Seo died thanks to his brother shooting him in the stomach. Han-Seok then hired two goons to stab Seung-Hyeuk at the courthouse. He received a knife wound to the stomach and another to the shoulder. Seung-Hyeuk’s death is suitably flamboyant and showy; something that mirrored his character traits throughout the season.

Vincenzo then tortures Myung Hee and makes sure she dies slowly. After cutting her feet open, he has gasoline poured on her head from sprinklers and sets her alight. He plays Zumba music and let her dance while she burnt to death. This is another symbolic death, with Myung-Hee’s dancing a key part of her character.

Vincenzo then used the “spear of atonement” against Han-Seok; a torture device with a drill attached on the end. This killed him slowly over time in the most painful way possible.

What happened to the Italians?

Vincenzo paid off the Italians in episode 19 with a hefty sum of money. He drew up a contract and paid them 80 million euros. This squared the debt and stopped him being chased – it also allowed him to stay in Korea and fight against Babel group.

However, Vincenzo did kill several members of the Luciano family during the year time-jump. It seems he resolved some bad blood there and used them as manure when he head back to Italy.

What happened to Inzaghi?

The lovable pigeon Inzaghi was last seen in episode 17 when Vincenzo fed him on the windowsill of his apartment. Ultimately, this bird has been a symbol of karma, an important spiritual connection between good and bad.

Every time Vincenzo did something good and helpful for the bird, he in turn was given good karma. Likewise, early on he was disrespectful and nasty to the pigeon and received bad luck. This all culminated with Inzaghi helping Vincenzo by bringing in a whole flock of pigeons to take out the agents on the rooftop.

Interestingly, Han-Seok’s final shot with the crow pecking at him could be interpreted as his own Inzaghi of sorts or a reincarnation of Han-Seo. Either way, we’ll leave that to your own interpretation!

Where is the gold being stored? What happened to it?

Across episode 20 we saw shots of gold bars hidden in Mi-Ri’s piano. However, the gold was actually being stored in Cha-Young’s house. This was a temporary measure though as Vincenzo decided to use the gold to buy an island and secure comfortable living for his Cassano family. The other residents don’t get a part of this stake – at least if the episode is anything to go by.

What happened to Vincenzo Cassano in the year time-jump?

This is a point of contention and not something that’s explained in much detail across the episode. We do learn Vincenzo was made a crime boss and rose the ranks. He’s also expanded his operation to take over olive fields in Malta. This is, of course, a bit of a throwback to the early episode 1 scene. If you’ll remember, Cassano drove past numerous fields to meet that powerful Italian contact. Now it seems he has ascended to that same level of power.

What happened to the Geumga Plaza residents?

Cheol-Sook survived his knife-wound and ended up looking after his beautiful baby boy with Yeon-Jin after all. Mr An and Mr Cho ended up working together with Director Tae. The monks also rebranded their temple to become a place for marriage proposals. This is also a nice nod toward George Anderson and his wife, who ended up proposing there earlier in the season.

The rest of the residents continue to fight the good fight, standing up for what’s right and presenting themselves as the Cassano Geumga Residents!

Is there a post credit sequence?

No, there’s no post-credit sequence although we do receive a lovely montage of all our characters at the end during the final credits.

Do Cha Young and Vincenzo kiss at the end?

Yes! The pair do finally kiss away from the numerous eyes watching them at the art gallery earlier in the season. This passionate kiss takes place during their one-day reunion at the Italian-Korean diplomacy meeting.

Why wasn’t Geumga Plaza destroyed? Didn’t we see it collapse in episode 1?

Yes we did, early on in the season we saw Vincenzo Cassano watch as Geumga Plaza was destroyed. Now, this appears to be one big vision and not at all indicative of the truth. This could well have been his way of processing what would happen if he failed to get the gold.

Will there be Vincenzo season 2?

It’s unlikely we’ll see this one back for a follow-up. Most Korean dramas aren’t renewed for a second season but if this changes, we’ll update the page accordingly!

Vincenzo – K-Drama Episode 17 Recap & Review

Moving The Chess Pieces

Buckle up guys, episode 17 of Vincenzo is here and business is about to pick up. Vincenzo moves his silenced gun from side to side, threatening our four lawyers and firing several shots. “Killing my Mother was not just evil, it was utterly foolish.” Vincenzo rasps, promising a humiliation worse than death and then a slow, painful death after. Just before he walks away, Vincenzo shoots Joon-Woo’s ear.

Vincenzo reconvenes with a distraught Cha-Young, eventually seeing his Mum and saying goodbye. He sits by the stream, bemoaning the lack of time he had with her and the regretful Hell he’s now stuck in. As he reads the note from his Mother, Vincenzo struggles hold back tears.

In the morning, he feeds Inzaghi like normal and gets dressed up. All the other residents shut down their shops as a sign of respect. They greet Vincenzo out in the hallway and confirm they want to help take down Babel with him. The whole Plaza is by his side; Vincenzo’s new make-shift family. The group have been through a lot but Vincenzo eventually walks away silently.

When he does, the group decide to buy themselves a new set of outfits. Swanky suits, slicked back hair and stunning dresses are the name of the game. The group literally look like they’re part of the Mafia – which is obviously exactly the plan!

Anyway, it’s a short-lived disguise as the real plan involves them infiltrating the Babel Tower meeting. All the VIP guests are in attendance, bidding on the various different floors for power.

They’re interrupted by Hwang-Gyu showing up at the tower, confirming there’s a bomb in place and he’s been adducted. This is all part of the plan though, with Hwang-Gyu and Hyeok-Pil working with Vincenzo.

Anyway, the group are given a 10 minute countdown and instructions to sever ties with Joon-Woo at all costs. If they don’t then the bomb could go off. Just to prove the validity of this, the bomb on Hwang-Gyu’s chest detonates, sending the man flying into a bloody heap on the ground.

Cha-Young is shocked but Vincenzo reminds her of the quote he told her before about the lion’s den. This, coupled with the bomb going off, is enough for Joon-Woo and the others to believe the threat is 100% real. It’s pure anarchy and all these men and women drop to their knees, severing ties with Babel Tower. While Vincenzo smiles, Cha-Young exchanges a concerned glance.

The timer drops to zero, everyone races out the room, and the bomb goes off. Only…it’s not actually a bomb. It’s simply a shower of humiliation, washing over the Babel Group. For his troubles, Hyeok-Pil takes the brunt of punishment and is beaten down with baseball bats. Eventually Myung-Hee tells her goons to bury the evidence. That evidence of course, being Hyeok-Pil.

With Vincenzo’s army rallied together, Babel Group start to see their plan failing. Knowing this is the case, Joon-Woo tasks his brother to take over Babel Bio and start up a subsidiary. It’s disguised as a kind gesture but it’s clear there’s an ulterior motive here.

Meanwhile, Vincenzo, Cha-Young and Joo-Sung discuss the contents of the Guillotine File. Specifically, they talk about the keyword that comes up the most. It turns out it’s actually real estate. Or IUDC (Innovative Urban Development Corporation) to be precise.

Joon-Woo and his cronies are deep in this and need to bring out the big guns. This comes in the form of a political candidate called Park Seung-Jun. Seung-Hyeok literally throws himself at the feet of this man and promises to be his shield.

While this is going on, Vincenzo manages to gain Mr An’s trust enough to tell him he’s obtained the Guillotine File and he’s going to use it as he sees fit. In fact, he Mr An takes Vincenzo’s side, telling his superior Tae Jong-Gu that the file is stuck in the basement.

With this news at hand, he convinces the Director to make sure no one goes after Cassano. When this news reaches Joon-Woo, he’s absolutely irate – and even more so when Han-Seok is made the Chairman again. However, there’s another plan in the works.

Seung-Hyeuk has managed to get Interpol involved. Not long after, Seung-Hyuk is promoted to the position of Chief Prosecutor, strengthening his claims. This poses a serious problem for Vincenzo, who realizes he’s being double-crossed.

While out on the ice rink together, Han-Seok and Vincenzo both pull guns on the other but Vincenzo has Han-Seok’s number. However, before he can fire Interpol arrive to arrest him. Han-Seok suddenly shoots, sending Vincenzo sprawling. As he lies on his back, bleeding out, the episode comes to a close.

The Episode Review

We are fast approaching the end game of Vincenzo and big moves have been made on both sides of the conflict here. Not only have Babel group managed to rally together and seek out higher authorities, this political candidate and Seung-Kyeuk’s promotion pose a particular problem for our Geumga Plaza residents.

Seeing the group all together and on the same page is definitely one of the highlights of the episode though. Their outfits and solidarity together really helps this show stand out and in a way, the residents do have some similarities to the lovable North Korean soldiers in Crash Landing On You.

Not only that though, this episode really solidifies that we’re into the end game now and our characters have all managed to join together for this final fight.

The incident inside the VIP room is a definite highlight, and the intense bomb blast killing Hwang-Gyu is definitely one of the more unexpected moments of the episode. Given the way this one ends, the final 3 episodes set up a brutal final battle to come.

With Interpol now involved and Vincenzo bleeding out, what’s next for our group? We’ll have to wait and see in tomorrow’s follow-up!

Recap : Vincenzo (Episode 17) • Drama Milk

After waiting one week to see what happened when Vincenzo stormed the Babel seaside castle we get…a warning. Haha. Okay, I did not see that coming and yet it makes sense that it would be a warning and not people’s knees getting shot up.

So, after Vincenzo shot the person who killed his mother in the chest, splattering blood all over Myung-hee and some of the terrified men in the background. He points the gun at everyone in succession and then has a lovely seat on the couch where he tells them he won’t kill them now. He will humiliate them greatly or kill them slowly with plenty of suffering.

He shoots Han-seok in the ear to show that he means business, y’all! Then he leaves.

I’m sitting here like, um, so…you shouldn’t at least shoot him in both ears? Your just going to leave? Alright, well, at least they are terrified.

And terrified they are because Han-seok wants Vincenzo dead as soon as possible. Myung-hee tells him to calm down, they need to get his ear fixed first, but she will handle Vincenzo.

Vincenzo stoically has his mother’s funeral with the tenants and quietly grieves with Hong Cha-young at the gravesite. After that, the tenants all close their shops and tell Vincenzo that they are full on to destroy Babel.

The plan is enacted. The first pawn will be moved during the Babel illegal condo selling party with all the corrupt people in high positions in Korea. It is an event at a hotel with cake and pretty tables and bidding on which condo suit the corrupt people want.

What the Babel group does not know is that Vincenzo’s team has infiltrated security and are directing people away from this conference room.

Inside the conference room, the corrupt people are introduced and start bidding on the condo space. But they are not bidding with money, they are bidding with favors. However, the original sinner, the driver that killed Cha-young’s father who is now working for Vincenzo, comes in, locks the door, and pushes the cake to the front.

This man tells them all that there is a bomb in the cake and he also has a bomb tied around his body. If they do not do what the people say, then the bom will go off and kill everyone in the room. pandemonium strikes and everyone runs around trying desperately to escape. Only the doors are locked and the tenant security will not let them out.

Han-seok does not think the bomb is real, but the bomb around him is detonated and he dies painfully, blasted back to the stage. Everyone is like, well, shoot, I guess this is real then! They all start running for their lives. Except, they are locked in.

The only way to escape is to eat their contract, get on their knees, state their name and position, and renounce Babel. Several people do this. The countdown on the bomb ends and the cake explodes sending…congratulations all around. It was a fake bomb, though the bomb on the man was very real and he is really dead-dead. Vincenzo did that on purpose as payback for killing Hong Yoo-chan.

He plans on killing the other hired hand as well, but that guy runs away back to Myung-hee. But Myung-hee does not welcome him back and actually hires men to beat him practically to death. Then she tells them to bury him alive? Yeah, she does not mess around. So the men that were involved in the death of Yoo-chan and countless other people are both dead now.

The next several days, the tenant team go out and show the videos of the corrupt confessions to the corrupt politicians and business owners that made them. They tell them to not work with Babel or they will release them.

One important development this episode is that the NIS guys boss did not turn to the dark side and start working with babel. He is a spy to video tape information at these high profile meetings. So Vincenzo and team are starting to have a lot of good information to take down Babel.

We also see that Han-seo and Vincenzo have developed a working relationship where they help each other and play hockey together. You know, as all relationships do. han-seo knew about the bomb incident and was just pretending to be afraid that day.

However, if you think that means Han-seo is becoming a great guy, think again. This episode is all about greed and we see that with Han-seo. Han-seok tells Han-seo that he will give him Babel Bio as a gift. He also tells him that Interpol is coming into Korea after Vincenzo. This is enough for Han-seo to turn on Vincenzo.

Han-seo calls Vincenzo to their hockey meetup and pulls a gun on him. Though Vincenzo knew something was up and pulled his gun on Vincenzo. He was all like, you think you got me? I realize that you must have what you want now.

Han-seo tries to say that his gun is actually empty so lets just put both our guns down. However, Interpol comes in right then and distracts Vincenzo enough for Han-seo to shoot him. Vincenzo falls to the ground, blood seeping from his shoulder and blackout. But not before a single tear can cascade down his boyish cheek.

We are going to watch episode 18 today to see just how Vincenzo is going to fix this mess. I haven’t given it much thought but I have a feeling that everything will turn out fine, and Vincenzo will be angrier than ever and come back after the bad guys. I thought that Han-seo might be the one person to come out unscaved in all this, but perhaps all the top people will go down in flames?

Or perhaps that entire setup was all a setup with Han-seo working with Vincenzo to trick Interpol? That could be what is happening. Maybe Joo-sung came back with his special effects tricks to make it seem like Vincenzo is shot when he wasn’t? What do y’all think?

Vincenzo: Episode 17 Recap

I might be busy with work and life (hence, the late recap) but Vincenzo and his second family is even busier. The goal to take down Babel continues and the battle only intensifies with Vincenzo’s determination for revenge. There’s nothing stopping him now and he has a whole village behind him for support. The possibilities are endless.

Vincenzo: Episode 17 Recap

Vincenzo interrupts the little fiasco ensuing between the four Babel and Wusang team members. As Lawyer Choi go at it against Mr. Han and Han-seo, Vincenzo makes his grand appearance in the room by shooting his mother’s murderer in front of all four. Everyone’s taken aback and frightened by the sudden killing, but Vincenzo has no mercy. There’s no stopping him. He aims the gun at Joon-woo and Lawyer Choi and says a few threatening words to his enemies. They shouldn’t have killed his mother because it’s only made things worse. To seek revenge, he’ll guarantee them two things: humiliation worse than death and a death so painful they’re going to experience every single step of the way. The four will all die one day, it just won’t be that day. To give Joon-woo a preview as to what his future entails, Vincenzo shoots his gun at Joon-woo’s ears and injures the Babel Chairman. Painful now and even more painful in the future.

When Vincenzo returns to the mortuary, he enters the room to first find a grieving and sorrowful Cha-young whose eyes and face are red from all the crying. He motions closer to his deceased mother as she lays on the trolley and begins to cry. Vincenzo lets out all the grief and the tears that he had been holding in this entire time; the reality that his mother is gone finally hits him and he has the time to reunite at his mom’s side after an intense and chaotic night. After unveiling his mother’s face, he mutters the one word that he was hoping he would get to call her: “Mom.” Tears continue to stream down his face uncontrollably and it’s too much for Vincenzo. Our Geumga tenants and Mr. Cho attend Mom’s funeral. Although Mom regrets that she was never there for Vincenzo as his mother growing up, it’s obvious that Vincenzo has found his extended family.

Cha-young accompanies Vincenzo to his mother’s burial site and the two pay their respect to her. Afterwards, the couple sit down by the river to have a talk. Vincenzo expresses regret. He finally appeared in his mother’s life after 30 years, but he only caused her her death. If she hadn’t met him, she would have lived longer. However, Cha-young speaks from her heart and she speaks from experience. She knows that Vincenzo and his mother gave each other eternal happiness despite how short their time together was. He’ll eventually realize this in the future because it was something that she came to knowing and feeling with her feather’s death. Vincenzo sheds a few more tears and Cha-young pats him on the back as he lowers his head to cry. The feeling of losing a loved one is all too familiar for Cha-young. It hits a little too close to home for her and that’s why she can be there to comfort Vincenzo and support him.

That night, Vincenzo dedicates some time to reading the letter that his mother wrote for him in her hospital bed. He cries as she expresses both regret for not having been there for him his entire life as well as gratitude for having a son like him. Vincenzo also looks at the scarf that his mother knitted for him and it’s clear that he’s going to miss his mom for a very long time.

Joon-woo demands to leave the hospital despite the fact that his ear hasn’t completely healed just yet. Han-seo and Lawyer Choi attempt to calm the Babel Chairman down, but all he can think of is killing Vincenzo. He reiterates to Lawyer Choi that he not only wants Vincenzo killed, but he also wants the Mafia lawyer to be tortured every single step of the way as well. Han-seo listens in on their conversation without saying a word. Vincenzo suffers a nightmare and has flashbacks of his time back in Italy murdering people as well as recalls memories of him with his mother. When he wakes up, he takes a few seconds to process the nightmare before getting ready. It’s a new day and Mr. Cho has another gun prepared for the Mafia lawyer. While everyone else may be playing checkers, Vincenzo is busy playing chess. On his way to the Jipuragi office, Vincenzo encounters all the Geumga tenants waiting outside in the hallway for him. They all express their support for the Mafia lawyer and note just how much of an inspiration he’s been to them. They’re willing to help him take down Babel and have closed down their shops in the meantime to offer their assistance. Although Vincenzo doesn’t say a word, it’s clear in his eyes that he’s grateful for their support and presence.

With Joon-woo’s release from the hospital, he prepares to attend another auction for Babel Tower despite his team’s reluctance and hesitance in letting him go. Joon-woo is adamant in going, but he receives a threatening phone call from Vincenzo first. The two go back at it with each other, but it’s ultimately Vincenzo who wins. Vincenzo is going to take away Joon-woo’s pieces one by one in his plans to humiliate the Babel Chairman. With that, our Geumga tenants are given the green light to go and buy themselves some cool black clothing to represent the “Cassano family.” Vincenzo is indeed using their help.

And so the party begins. When the Babel-Wusang team arrive at the building where the auction is located, our Cassano family all get into their positions. Ms. Kwak and Chef Toto pretend to be a part of the kitchen team and they bring out a huge cake to the ballroom where everyone is seated. Meanwhile, the guys in the team are all dressed up in suits and role play as security guards outside near the ballroom. Cha-young and Vincenzo stay nearby in a hotel room closely monitoring the situation through a screen that’s capturing the live auction. There’s many people of power present at the auction and everyone is excited. It starts off like normal and no one assumes any foul play. However, things take a different turn when one of Vincenzo’s shadows enters the room and makes his grand appearance. He has a bomb glued to him and he also unveils the bomb hidden inside of the cake that was delivered earlier. The room is locked and people panic at the sight of Vincenzo’s shadow. He warns everyone not to leave or do anything or else everyone will explode. They have ten minutes to listen and abide by Vincenzo’s rules or else they all die.

Watching the man carry the bomb on him, Vincenzo recalls a moment from earlier that day. He actually met up with his two shadows (Mr. Pyo and Mr. Pyo’s boss) prior to the auction in the hotel room and promised them their release if they fulfilled this last assignment. Fast forward to the present, Lawyer Choi freaks out upon seeing Vincenzo’s shadow as she recognizes him and he definitely recognizes her. However, Lawyer Choi pretends to act as if she doesn’t know him even though she does. Han-seo and Mr. Han assume the bomb on the man is fake; it must be portable chargers or something, right? However, to prove that everything is real and that the situation is real, Vincenzo’s shadow claims that the miniature Babel Tower creation in the room will go off in five seconds. When the man finishes counting down, it’s not the Babel Tower that goes off. It’s him. The bomb on the man explodes and he dies on the spot (omg!). It was intended all along and Vincenzo was the mastermind behind the man’s death. Vincenzo did tell Cha-young that they would get revenge for what the man did to her father. Upon witnessing the death, Cha-young takes some time to process what just happened. She steps away and is reminded of the horrible night she saw her father lying in a pool of blood in the restaurant. With that, she shares with Vincenzo that she doesn’t regret anything. They had to do this sooner or later.

Thanks to Mi-ri’s technology expertise and knowledge, she’s able to send text messages to all the attendees at the auction excluding the Wusang-Babel team. They’re demanded to cut ties with Babel and cancel their agreements with the corporation if they wish to live. So with that, the powerful members in the room grab their contract agreement with Babel, rip it up, and stuff it in their mouths while declaring their allegiance to cut ties with Babel. After following through with Vincenzo’s instructions, everyone in the room is eventually allowed to leave except for the 4 Wusang and Babel members. They notice that the timer on the clock has stopped at 10 seconds but it doesn’t last for long. When the timer resumes and eventually finishes, the cake goes off and a fountain of liquid explodes all over Mr. Han’s face. Vincenzo and Cha-young are satisfied with how the first party went. They celebrate in their hotel room with some champagne. And onto the next one.

It doesn’t take long for Mr. Han to make his next move. He catches up to a man named Mr. Kim and expresses wishes to meet with Mr. Park – a presidential candidate. It’s an urgent matter as it’s related to the Guillotine file. With one of Vincenzo’s shadows dead, Vincenzo’s other shadow – Mr. Pyo – runs for his life. He returns to Lawyer Choi and pleads for her help to rescue him. Lawyer Choi is willing to help the man, but she needs to know how everything went down first before sparing the man’s life. Han-seo and Vincenzo spend some time together playing ice hockey. They’re getting along quite better now especially since Han-seo tipped Vincenzo off about the auction the other night. Although Han-seo’s been helping Vincenzo out, he wants to double check and make sure that he’s not one of Vincenzo’s targets. Vincenzo is willing to let Han-seo go as long as Han-seo doesn’t drop the honorifics, lol. Han-seo is quite smitten and impressed with the handsome Mafia lawyer and falls for him (literally) as their ice hockey date concludes.

Unlike what Mr. Pyo thought, his life isn’t spared by Lawyer Choi. He reaches the same fate as his counterpart and is beaten to death. Oof. The fight against the powerful people at the Babel Tower auction isn’t over just yet. All our Geumga tenants go head to head with some of the leaders who were present at the auction. They list out a bunch of demands that each of them must follow or else the video of them inside of the ballroom at the auction will be released. Of course, everyone who was at the auction listens to our Geumga tenants and follows through with their demands. Cassano family, for the win!

Joon-woo and Han-seo hang out in his office. Joon-woo has a grand surprise for his brother and he’s willing to hand over one of Babel’s units, Babel Bio, over to Han-seo. If things go well and Han-seo is successful in managing Babel Bio, he’ll permit Han-seo to eventually take over Babel Pharmaceuticals or Babel Chemicals. Han-seo and Joon-woo give each other a hug and Joon-woo is excited. This is what he’s always wanted all along, right? Our Jipuragi team dig up some more information found inside of the Guillotine file and find some dirt on Mr. Park, the presidential candidate. He’s quite involved in the real estate industry and purchased some land around Geumga Plaza a few years ago. Mr. Park meets up with Mr. Han in a private meeting to discuss about the Guillotine file. Upon learning that Vincenzo has the file hidden underneath the plaza alongside tons of gold, Mr. Park is both intrigued and fearful of the idea. There’s many secrets in that file that can cause him to lose everything. Mr. Han promises to be Mr. Park’s unbeatable shield under a few conditions. Mr. Park hears him out on his ideas.

Vincenzo urges Monk Chaeshin and Jeok-ha to leave the temple once again. Although the two monks refuse to move out, they do have a burning question for Vincenzo. To make up for the mess the other day at the auction, Joon-woo invites all the powerful people over to his house for some drinks. He reassures them that everything will work out with the Babel Tower and that the reevaluation process will eventually be resolved. Plus, there’s some nice gifts he has in store for them (aka gold). Mr. Han has something nice cooked up for himself, especially after meeting with Mr. Park. Speaking of Mr. Park, Mr. An and Director Tae are determined to take him and Mr. Kim down. It turns out Director Tae was never on Babel’s side all along. He only pretended to be on their side to learn more about Babel’s plans and to gain intel on what they were doing. There’s only a handful of people who know the truth about the Guillotine file and that includes Mr. An. Upon learning from Vincenzo that he actually has the Guillotine file on him, Mr. An tricked his boss into thinking the file was located in the basement of Geumga Plaza. From there, Director Tae made his secret moves on Babel and now he’s ready to work with the Jipuragi team to expose their enemies. He made sure that Mr. Kim not go after Vincenzo at any point in the process and to rather leave him alone. He also was able to dig up some dirty laundry on Babel.

Our Jipuragi team watch some video footage that Director Tae was able to secretly capture and record when he was over at Joon-woo’s house the other night with everyone else. He also reunites with his former employee, Mr. Cho, at the office that night. It’s been a while since they’ve last seen each other and they make it clear that Mr. An is Mr. Cho’s sunbae, lol. Mr. Han’s wishes and vision comes into fruition. In return for protecting Mr. Park, Mr. Han is given the position of Chief Prosecutor of the Namdongbu Prosecution Services. Lawyer Choi is now CEO of Wusang while Han-seo is promoted once again to Chairman of Babel. Joon-woo attempts to argue against Mr. Kim, but Mr. Kim puts Joon-woo in his place. He is well aware of Joon-woo’s murder of his father and he knows plenty more about Joon-woo. Mr. Kim suggests that Joon-woo lay low for now in the meantime.

Mr. Han and Han-seo go out to celebrate their new positions with some drinks. Things are shaping up for them all thanks to Mr. Han’s hard work and smart talking. Now that they feel more confident about their situations, all they have to do is take care of Vincenzo. So with that, Mr. Han shares with Han-seo his upcoming move to take down the Mafia member: he’s going to set up a trap that involves the International Police arresting Vincenzo. Vincenzo will be removed from the picture and Han-seo can then demolish Geumga Plaza to obtain the Guillotine file and the gold hidden in the basement of the building. It’s the perfect idea and it’s also one that Han-seo shares with Vincenzo the next day. Mr. Han holds a press conference as the new Chief Prosecutor. Our Jipuragi team watch the press conference in disbelief and shock. Joon-woo doesn’t seem like he’s powerful enough to have promoted Mr. Han to such a high-level position so who was it exactly that gave Mr. Han his new job?

Han-seo and Vincenzo meet up at the ice rink once again, but there’s no game of ice hockey this time. Now that Han-seo’s got what he’s wanted, the fun between him and Vincenzo ends. He beats around the bush for a bit before pulling out his gun and aiming it at Vincenzo. Vincenzo is also just as fast and before Han-seo can shoot, he finds Vincenzo aiming a gun back at him. Vincenzo didn’t expect much from Han-seo anyways; he’s similar to his brother and the betrayal doesn’t come as a shock. The two men point their guns at each other, but there’s more guns involved. The InterPol and Korean police arrive at the scene and also aim their guns at the Mafia lawyer. They urge Vincenzo to lower his gun, but Vincenzo has no plans in giving in or giving up. Upon redirecting his gun to one of the police officers, Han-seo shoots at Vincenzo and hits him right by his heart. Vincenzo’s jersey is stained red as blood begins to bleed through the shirt. He falls to his knees and then eventually onto the ground. A tear falls from Vincenzo’s eyes as he lays on the ice rink. Is this the end for him? Is this all that it has come down?

Joon Woo hangs up and refuses to say what Joon Woo said. Lawyer Han is nervous at what the future holds.

The tenants wonder how they can help Vincenzo. Mr. Nam bursts in with Vincenzo’s credit card. He declares they are shopping for the Vincenzo family uniform. The tenants are spiffy in black as they stride down the street.

Vincenzo tells Cha Young they will not only stop the Babel Group new tower from being built, they’ll reveal ugly secrets along the way.

The man declares the Babel Group Tower model will explode in 5 seconds. He counts it down. Instead, his bomb goes off killing him. Everyone screams and attempt to exit.

Cha Young looks at Vincenzo in shock. She asks if the man is really dead. Vincenzo reminds her he promised he’d deal with the man that killed her father. Cha Young tries to deal with the action. She remembers her father’s body. She agrees the killer had to pay.

The attendees get texts stating the cake bomb can kill everyone in the room. The group alarm increases. The next text states they are being recorded. Ms. Seo sends the next text stating they must do as the dead man ordered. The participants shred their agreements with Babel Group and swear they’ll never do business with Babel Group again. Joon Woo orders them to be quiet. They yell they won’t die for him.

Vincenzo declares they’ll be able to cancer the construction of Babel Group tower now.

The next text tells the attendees they did well. The bomb timer stops. The attendees flee the room.

With only Team Evil left, the bomb timer counts to zero. The cake spews liquid.

Cha Young is impressed at the execution of Vincenzo’s plan. Vincenzo states the next meeting’s stakes and outcome will be even bigger. Cha Young offer to organize it.

Lawyer Han waits outside the residence of the right-hand man to a presidential candidate. He asks to speak with the presidential candidate. The right-hand man prefers to wait until after the election. Lawyer Han states a discussion topic will be the secret file.

The second man begs Lawyer Choi to forgive him for working with Vincenzo. He prostrates himself stating he had no choice. Lawyer Choi order him to come with her and reveal everything he knows.

Han Seo and Vincenzo play one-on-one hockey. Han Seo reminds Vincenzo the meeting was a success because of the tips he provided. Vincenzo tells Han Seo to notify him when the power shifts at Babel Group. Han Seo asks if his cooperation guarantees he’ll live. Vincenzo asks if he’s been studying. Han Seo swears he has. Vincenzo notes that power doesn’t come from brute force but the mind. He starts to skate away from Han Seo who follows and trips into Vincenzo’s arm. He thanks Vincenzo. He’s thrilled when Vincenzo trips him and leaves.

The beaten man begs for his life. Lawyer Choi declares she won’t be fooled twice. She orders her henchmen to bury the man.

Garbed in their Vincenzo family uniforms the tenants get their next assignment from Vincenzo. Make Babel Group pay. They ask how. Cha Young tells them to be bold. Vincenzo tells them to imagine Babel Group killed those they cared about. Cha Young tells them to use their imagination. Vincenzo tells them to ignore social status.

Mr. Seo and the Chef blackmail the construction approver to rescind the approval with video of the meeting. Mr. and Ms. Lee blackmail the police Chief with the video to increase security around Geumga Plaza building and to give the tenants citizenship awards. Flashback…Agent An is shocked when Vincenzo reveals he has the secret file. He asks Agent An to support his utilization of the secret file in any way he wants. Agent An approves. Vincenzo promises to give Agent An the file when he is done with it. Vincenzo says he needs a favor.

LOL, Agent An’s reaction when Vincenzo touched his shoulder.

Flashback…Director Tae is shocked when Agent An reveals Vincenzo has the secret file in the secret room of the Geumga Plaza building. He’s impressed Agent An has been working to retrieve the file by supporting Vincenzo. Agent An promises he’ll have the secret file soon. Then Director Tae can defeat his rivals in the Agency and become the leader. Director Tae loves it and offers to help. Agent An asks Director Tae to become a Babel Group ally. Director Tae attends the Babel Group Tower auctions. Agent An asks Director Tae to ensure Vincenzo isn’t targeted by the Government. Director Tae tells the right-hand man that if Vincenzo is apprehended, bad things will be revealed that will embarrass Korea.

Director Tae records the meeting of the Babel Group allies while he attends. Later at the Jipuragi Law Firm, they review the footage. Vincenzo reveals his secret partner is Mr. Choi, undercover agent. Director Tae is surprised. Agent An learns he is more senior than Mr. Choi.

Joon Woo, Lawyer Choi, and Han Seo are surprised to learn Lawyer Han will now be the head of the prosecutor’s office and Lawyer Choi will become primary partner. The right-hand man that Director Tae spoke with tells Joon Woo to back off Vincenzo due to his international connections. Joon Woo tells him not to interfere in Babel Group business. The right-hand man reveals he knows that Joon Woo poisoned his father. Joon Woo is taken aback. The right-hand man advises that Joon Woo should step into the shadows and let Han Seo run Babel Group again. Joon Woo shoots daggers at Han Seo who is surprised. Lawyer Choi sputters in protest. The right-hand man advises Babel Group to do as the presidential candidate directs or they’ll be out of favor after the election. Han Seo and Lawyer Han secretly smile at each other.

Lawyer Han and Han Seo celebrate their increased status over drinks. Lawyer Han brags he worked hard to made this happen. They are giddy. Then Lawyer Han reveals that Interpol will arrest Vincenzo in 24 hours. Lawyer Han brags he called the new boss of the mafia Vincenzo used to work for to learn of crimes Vincenzo committed for the family. Lawyer Han reported the crimes to Interpol. Han Seo declares Lawyer Han is brilliant. Lawyer Han declares with Vincenzo out of the way, the secret file and gold under Geumga Plaza building will be theirs. Han Seo worries Vincenzo will come back to Korea after Interpol is done with him. Lawyer Han declares that won’t happen. All they need to concentrate on is Han Seo running Babel Group with Lawyer Han backing him from the prosecution’s office.

At home, Han Seo wonders who will win – Vincenzo or Joon Woo?

Lawyer Han is sworn in as Chief Prosecutor. He tells the press he is honored to serve the country. The Jipuragi Law Firm team watches the broadcast. Cha Young wonders who helped Lawyer Han rise to this position. Cha Young wonders why Han Seo didn’t report this. Just then Han Seo calls. He tells Vincenzo they need to talk.

Interpol agents arrive in Korea to arrest Vincenzo.

Vincenzo meets Han Seo at the hockey rink and asks why they needed to meet. The Interpol agents arrive at the hockey rink.

Han Seo tells Vincenzo that choices are difficult. He tells Vincenzo the fun ends now. He turns gun drawn. He’s surprised to find Vincenzo has his gun drawn. They face each other. Vincenzo tells Han Seo he’s just like Joon Woo. Vincenzo assumes Han Seo has reached his goal. Han Seo suggests they both lower their guns so neither of them get hurt. Vincenzo refuses. Han Seo claims his gun is empty. Vincenzo cocks his gun. He tells Han Seo to shoot first. Han Seo cocks his gun. They stare at each other.

The Interpol agents burst onto the rink guns drawn. They advise Vincenzo they will arrest him and return to Italy. They order Vincenzo to drop his gun. Han Seo shoots Vincenzo. The blood flows and Vincenzo falls to his knees. Vincenzo passes out and his blood spreads on the ice.

My Thoughts

Han Seo betrays Vincenzo. Writer Park Jae Bum gave Han Seo and Lawyer Han a tactical bump when Lawyer Han manipulated the popular presidential candidate with news that Vincenzo had the secret file and a pile of gold. He earned Chief Prosecutor for his efforts. Then Lawyer Han leveraged Vincenzo’s former mafia connections for evidence against Vincenzo. Interpol came running to take Vincenzo away. I was more surprised by Lawyer Han effective strategy moves than Han Seo’s betrayal. Han Seo is like the scorpion that assures the frog he won’t sting him. Vincenzo expected the betrayal but was caught off guard by the Interpol agents arrival to arrest and deport him. Then it appeared Han Seo shot him. Han Seo shot Joon Woo previously. Even though he’s not a great shot, a bullet can fell an enemy. The tenants becoming the Vincenzo family in their outfits, their support and moxy was wonderful to watch. Writer Park has found the right mix of humor and drama. Only 3 remaining episodes.

Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong Ki) promised Team Evil they’d pay through humiliation then death. Vincenzo didn’t kill Team Evil when he confronted them after his mother’s murder. Instead, he promised retribution then a painful ending instead of a quick one. Song Joong Ki’s sorrow for his mother was well done.

Hong Cha Young (Jeon Yeo Bin) hesitated then agreed with Vincenzo’s choice to kill her father’s murderer. Last episode she urged Vincenzo make the murderer of his mother pay. This week he made good on his promise to make Cha Young’s father’s murderer pay. Vincenzo correctly guessed it was best for him to push the button to kill him versus giving that choice to Cha Young. She had to think about it then agreed with Vincenzo’s methodology. That is a constant in this series.

I rank this episode as terrific, 9 on a 10-point scale.

Is Vincenzo Dead?- “Vincenzo” Episode 17 Recap, Shocking Cliffhanger

“Vincenzo” is back and you know what that means, more shocking twists and revenge plots and this week is probably one of the highlights of the drama.

“Vincenzo” has taken a two-week break in order to perfect the drama. Later reports stated that the reason was actually because the PD and the screenwriter were struggling over the ending of the drama.

Since we have evil and lesser evil going up against each other, it will likely not end well and while we’re still 2 episodes away from the finale, we already have a possibly dead man on our screen and it happens to be “Vincenzo” himself.

Below is a recap of “Vincenzo” episode 17 highlighted moments, it is not a detailed recap

“Vincenzo” episode 17 recap

It starts where we left off two weeks ago with Vincenzo pointing the gun at the evil dudes. However, the situation deescalates and Vincenzo has a talk with them explaining why he hasn’t killed them yet, he says killing his mother was simply foolish and that he won’t kill them now because that would be too easy, he’ll make them suffer.

Vincenzo then warns they shouldn’t try to pin this on him and clean it up themselves, he then shoots a gun at Joon Woo’s ear making him bleed.

Vincenzo then holds a funeral for his mother attended by the plaza residents. He is utterly heartbroken over the loss of his mother. He also comes to find out she’s known he was her son and has knitted a scarf for him and asked Lawyer Hong to give it to him once she’s passed away. He reads her letter and is utterly devastated.

Meanwhile, Joon Woo is hospitalized but he’s furious, he asks lawyer Choi to kill him and says it doesn’t matter how much he has to pay for it to get done, she says she’ll make him pay for it and will kill him for sure.

Meanwhile, the plaza residents all close down their shops and tell Vincenzo they’re at his disposal and they want to fight alongside him.

Vincenzo leaves and is seen at a hotel room, he calls Joon Woo to let him know he’ll play a chess game with him and he’ll make sure to make him suffer.

The plaza residents all dress up in suits and leave the place, they’re ready to infiltrate the Babel group next exclusive meeting where some of the higher-ups of various sectors of society gather to auction who gets the top spot at the babel tower, everyone offers something in exchange for a good apartment at the tower.

However, they’re soon interrupted by the man who has been helping out Vincenzo do the dirty work, they’re the same people who killed Hong’s father. He walks in and shows a bomb strapped to his chest. He warns the people if they don’t kneel and swear they won’t allow the tower project to go on, they will all die.

The people are scared at first but they don’t buy it completely. However, he says a bomb will go off from the cake as a warning. The bomb goes off, but from his chest, he dies on the spot.

After the rich people see that, they immediately scramble to beg and swear they won’t allow the project to go on. The team gets their confessions on tape and they’re set free. Vincenzo gets what he wants without having to move many chess pieces, lawyer Hong says she’ll be on the move for the second party that will be bigger and grander.

As you’d expect Joon Woo is furious.

CEO Han from Wusang firm begins to move differently after seeing how its going on. He wants to meet the presidential candidate Park Seung Jun to talk to him about the file.

The other guy who also did the dirty work for Vincenzo runs over to lawyer Choi asking her for mercy. She ends beating him to death and burying him.

Jang Han Seo meets up with Vincenzo on the ice ring, turns out he’s the one who tipped them off regarding this meeting. Vincenzo tells him there might be a shift in the power dynamics at Babel, he tells him when this happens, he should let him know.

On another day, the plaza residents meet up, Vincenzo tells them to be resilient and not back down when they do the next mission. They go in teams and meet up with the people who attended that babel tower meeting, they pressure them to back down from supporting it.

Meanwhile, there seems to be a shift in Joon Woo’s attitude towards Jang Han Seo, he not only hugs him but also agrees to hand him over Babel Bio and depending on how well he does with hit, he might hand him bigger parts of Babel.

Meanwhile, CEO Han from Wusang firm meets Park Seung Jun, they know each other from back in the day. He tells him about the file and plaza.

After they finish analyzing the file, the keyword that came up the most is ‘real estate,’ in regards to an institution called IUDC, they develop and provide real-estate for building new cities. Turns out, Park Seung Jun bought so many land around the plaza, meaning he and Babel are in on it together.

As Park Seung Jun finds out about the file and the gold, CEO Han from Wusang vows to be his sword.

Vincenzo then goes to meet with the monks at the temple and after a discussion, he walks out happy. He tells them to evacuate and it appears they’ve agreed on the course of action to take.

During the night, Joon Woo meets up with more powerful people including the director of the International Security Intelligence Agency He wants to convince them to go ahead with the tower even though the entire idea is being re-examined. He bribes them.

Turns out he’s infiltrated the International Security Intelligence Agency director has known about the file but is under the impression that its under the plaza, he agrees to cooperate until he gets his hand on the file and he spies on Joon Woo.

It also turns out that he’s told presidential candidate Park Seung Jun right-hand man that they shouldn’t go after Vincenzo as he’s an international security threat too.

Thus, after Joon Woo wraps up his meeting with the other heads about going ahead with the tower project, they meet up with presidential candidate Park Seung Jun right-hand man who tells them to leave Vincenzo alone.

He also tells them CEO Han from Wusang will become the chief prosecutor of Namdongbu prosecution service and Ms. Choi will become the CEO of Wusang. He finishes off his commands by telling Joon Woo to step down and to make his younger brother run the business again.

Turns out, both Han Seo and CEO Han from Wusang were planning this. During a celebration party they had together, CEO Han tells Han Seo the Interpol is coming to arrest Vincenzo within 24 hours. CEO Han had called Vincenzo family and set up a trap and asked him to find a crime they can pin on him and he reported it to the interpol.

The next day when CEO Han gets his new appointment, Vincenzo and the guys find out and they’re a bit upset Han Seo didn’t report this to them. Han Seo then calls Vincenzo and says he has something urgent to report to him, he agrees to meet him at the ice ring.

When they meet, Han Seo starts to go on and on about what he’s expected and such, Vincenzo can tell he’s being betrayed, they both draw the gun at each other, the interpol also arrives and ask Vincenzo to surrender.

Han Seo freaks out and says his gun is empty, and he was only doing it to scare him, Vincenzo says he won’t draw away his gun and asks him to shoot first, but someone else shoots him in the heart, Vincenzo looks at Han Seo who appears to have shot him, Han seo is trembling in fear and seems to be in shock. Vincenzo falls to the ground. The blood starts to come out of his chest, he cries at the end.

“Vincenzo” episode 18 preview and clues

tvN has also released a Vincenzo episode 18 preview, however, in the preview, it doesn’t show his face anywhere which is already a bad sign and it signals that lawyer Hong will be the final person to bring down Babel as she moves ahead with shredding them to pieces, Joon Woo also appears to have been arrested and placed in Jail.

Check out Vincenzo episode 18 trailer below

But this begs the question, did the screenwriter just dare kill off the main character Vincenzo? Is Vincenzo dead?

Is Vincenzo dead?

Honestly, I highly doubt that’s the case, at least not yet.

That tear was for dramatic effect, it could be that Han Seo told Vincenzo about the Interpol plan, this is likely the only way he’ll get out of this unscathed.

Also, I highly doubt it was Han Seo who shot Vincenzo, the angle doesn’t make sense, it appears that his gun has been shot but the angel and precision isn’t done by someone as cowardly as Han Seo.

I suspect it was Joon Woo disguised as the Interpol who shot Vincenzo from afar and he’ll get arrested for that among other things.

Its a theory for now, but a very plausible one. The true shock would be if they actually killed off Vincenzo for good, which is highly unlikely but a very nice cliffhanger.

I really Han Seo and I hope to god he doesn’t betray or back-stab Vincenzo, they had such cute bromance going on and I love to see them together. It’d be a shame if he betrays them because I know Vincenzo will kill him if he does.

I will reserve my thoughts to Vincenzo episode 18 recap which I’ll write tomorrow when the episode airs. For now, I am having fun watching this drama. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode.

so what do you think of Vincenzo episode 17?
