Parker 750 Cabin Cruiser
The Parker 750 Cabin Cruiser is the first in the new line of Parker Boats. This new series has a very much sports cruiser design with superb sea keeping qualities.
The new revolutionary GRP laminated hull of the new boat was specifically designed for high speeds, whilst maintaining the comfort of a smooth passage. The well-shaped hull with multiple spray rails permits speeds up to 35 knots with a 150 HP outboard engine and 45 knots with a 250 HP engine.
Four persons can sleep comfortably in the cabin with two on the couch in the front. In the wheelhouse section the table can be lowered to create a sleeping facilities for further two persons. The boat is equipped with a separate cabin with a sea toilet and hand wash basin, a kitchen area with a cooker, sink and refrigerator. The layout of the cabin with lots of storage space has been provided to simplify the time on board for all. The rear open cockpit will bring lots of fun to those who like to sit out in the open air whilst at speed. As usual, the Parker trade mark the outside steering position is offered as an optional. The Parker 750 Cabin Cruiser has been followed by the Parker 750 Day Cruiser which has an open cockpit with a very much “sporty appearance”.

The target group of the Parker 750 Cabin Cruiser are owners who need quick trips to holiday destinations, sometimes with an overnight stay, regardless of the weather and season.
The manufacturer offers a fairly generous standard layout for this size: a lockable cabin with skylight and large side windows for two people, a lockable bathroom with sink, a cockpit with galley with sink and a dining area for four people, which can be converted into a berth for two more people. The cabin can be closed off with sliding doors and a sliding sunroof. Cockpit with L-shaped sofa and dedicated wing recess or optional extra bench.

Parker 750 CC and Evinrude E-Tec 250 G2, a perfect couple
A seven-metre cabin cruiser and a two-stroke, direct injection outboard: the Parker 750 CC and one Evinrude E-Tec 250 G2. The ideal combination for a perfect cruise

It has nothing to do with fountain pens, or with Spider Man’s alter ego. Parker is a Polish yard, which until a few years ago built working boats but more recently has also started producing pleasure craft. There is also a more open version of the 750. But the one that we tried was the cabin cruiser. The name makes it easy to work out what its features are.
Parker has a partnership agreement with Evinrude, so it can also offer a package with an outboard engine. And on the transom there is indeed a 250 hp E-Tec. It is a G2, the latest generation of direct injection two-strokes from Evinrude. It produces thrust and does what it has to. It also produces very limited emissions, which is one of its features.
How much thrust does it produce? A lot. It takes less than three seconds to glide, whilst to get to top speed it only takes just over seventeen seconds. That’s the performance of a sports boat, rather than that of a cruiser. It is also the product of the boat’s very limited displacement, which is just 1,860 kg dry weight, without the engine.
The 250 hp power option is perhaps the most appropriate, if you don’t want to say goodbye to nearly 40 knots top speed. Those who are prepared to make do with a more limited range, between planing minimum and top speed, will be happy with the 150 E-Tec, which is also available in a package.
With the 250 fitted the figures show that there are nearly 27 knots between planing and top speed. That is a very wide range, which means you can choose the speed you want in any situation.
And the good thing is that fuel consumption is nearly always the same: it is low at both 3100 rpm and also at 5600 rpm. At minimum planing speed, which is at 3150 revs, we were doing 13.4 knots, and using 1.7 litres per nautical mile. At top speed, the instruments on the control panel showed 5620 rpm, 39.7 knots and two litres per mile.
Nearly the same consumption level at top speed as at planing. An engine, which is that efficient also means the yard can limit the amount of liquids carried on board, which means that weight can be reduced.
The Parker 750 CC fuel tank, for example, only holds 230 litres. That wouldn’t be very much if we had an outboard that uses a lot. But with the E-Tec G2 that is a capacity that gives a 115-mile range, even at top speed. Not bad for a cruiser that has been designed for a family with three people.
The only price that you have to pay for having a two-stroke is the noise. It can be mainly seen at mid-level revs, because at top speed even four-strokes are noisy, while the difference between the two kinds of outboard can really be heard at around the 4,000 rpm level.
And how does handle the Parker 750 CC hull? Quite well. We didn’t find rough sea outside Genoa harbour, but there were a few bow waves. And since they are the wakes made by cargo ships and ferries, they definitely weren’t insignificant. So we made sure that we crossed them at every possible angle. The boat takes a few moments to get the right trim back after it has gone over a wave, but it never becomes a difficult situation. If you want to speed up the process of getting the right trim, when the hull is perfectly parallel to the water surface, you just have to work on the throttle and the trim adjuster.
Overall it is a hull that handles well, and is easy and fairly agile. That is what you are looking for in a cruiser boat. You shouldn’t make assumptions based on price alone: although it is decidedly low, it doesn’t mean that quality has been sacrificed. It is worth noting that many large yards have their moulding and lamination done in Poland.
The quality of the work coming from that part of the world is well known. But I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the interior finishes and details.
The only thing that didn’t convince me was the cockpit awning, because it has a fairly bulky stainless steel structure that can prove annoying, especially when not in use. If they had instead gone for one of those biminis that extend out of hard tops, as are often used on American boats, it would certainly have been less bulky, but just as effective.
