The Japanese version of “My Love From The Star” is drawing laughter due to poor CGI and questionable acting.
Some scenes from the Japanese remake of hit K-drama “My Love From The Star” were posted to a Korean online community on April 27th, attracting attention.
“My Love From The Star” is a fantasy rom-com depicting a miraculous love story between Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun), an alien man who landed on Earth 400 years ago, and Cheon Song Yi (Jeon Ji Hyun), a famous actress. Jeon Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun’s awesome chemistry and an engaging storyline full of twists helped the drama receive much love both domestically and overseas.
“My Love From The Star” was especially popular in Japan, so the news of a remake made many fans of the original look forward to it. However, the Japanese version of “My Love From The Star” ended up being a disappointment because the CGI scenes are laughably awful.
In the scenes where the male lead uses his superpowers, the CGI effects in the Japanese version are too fake-looking compared to the original, which was released 9 years ago.

In the released trailer, Sota Fukushi and Mizuki Yamamoto appeared as Do Min Joon and Cheon Song Yi, played by Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun, respectively.

The drama released its trailer and promotional posters yesterday, Mizuki will be playing Jun Ji Hyun’s character, a spoiled celebrity. She was seen in a similar head-to-toe red outfit just like the original poster. Sota will be playing Kim Soo Hyun’s character, an alien who has been living on earth for 400 years as a university professor.
The trailer promises many comedic moments as well as some eye candy, as Sota was seen showing off his muscular physique. There are slight cultural differences to adapt to the Japanese audience ,as the pair was seen eating yakitori rather than fried chicken like in the original.
