KD 7 Acupuncture Point Is The Proven Acupoint On Maintaining Vivid Black Hair

What Is The KD 7 Acupuncture Point?

The acupoint gets its abbreviated name from it’s relation to kidney health. It is also known by its Chinese name Fuliu and its English-translated name returning current/recover flow.

These names allude to the power the KD 7 acupuncture point has over energy flow through the body. In Chinese medicine, the kidneys’ function goes far beyond the processing of waste from the blood into the urine. The kidneys are actually a crucial part of our life force. They store and protect the body’s life energy, also known as Jing essence. We are each born with a set amount of this energy, making it essential that our kidneys are healthy and capable of sustaining that life essence for many years. Weak kidneys can cause a loss of that essence and cause aging early in life.

This life essence is how the health of your kidneys, as promoted through the KD 7 point, directly affects the ability to maintain vivid black hair. Greying of the hair display poor kidney function and an inability to cope with the loss of Jing essence in the face of extended periods of stress.

It is important to properly care for your kidneys throughout your life and make acupressure of the KD 7 point a regular event. This will ensure that you will maintain vivid black hair throughout your life, and you will reap a variety of other health benefits, both physical and mental, that are associated with this location.

Where Is The KD 7 Acupuncture Point Located On The Body?

Despite being related to healthy kidney function, the acupoint is actually located near the ankles. This is because the kidney channel starts at the base of the feet and runs up the ankles, legs, groin, and abdomen until it ends in the upper back. Even though this long chain of kidney acupuncture points runs nearly the entire length of the body, the most impactful acupoints are considered to be those closest to the foot and ankle.

To identify the acupoint’s location, you must start at the KD 3 location. The KD 3 point can be found halfway between the highest point of your medial malleolus, also known as the outer protrusion of your ankle, and the attachment of your Achilles tendon. Your Achilles tendon is the seemingly round and firm chord of the tendon extending up each leg from the heels.

After identifying the KD 3 location, the KD 7 location can be determined precisely two cun directly above KD 3. Cun is a historical form of measurement used primarily in acupuncture. Two cun translates to about 2.5 inches, typically the width of a person’s pointer, middle, and ring finger when measured across the knuckles. Feel free to measure two cun up from the KD 3 however you find most comfortable and most impactful.

When you locate the acupoint, you should notice that it is not aligned with the ankle. Instead, it falls slightly towards the back of the leg. This is crucial information because the KD 8 point is at the same level as the KD 7 point; however, it is in line with the ankle and has different benefits.

How Do I Massage The KD 7 Acupuncture Point?

Now that you have identified the KD 7 acupressure point on both legs, you can begin to apply massage for the treatment of kidney function and improvement of hair color.

The KD 7 point is located on the outer portion of the leg. However, its proximity to the thinner rear portion of the leg makes it possible for acupressure through a pinching motion. This thin part of the leg can be held with your index finger on the KD 7 point and your thumb directly across from it on the inner portion of the leg. In this position, you can apply gentle pressure with both fingers. A gentle circular massaging motion is optional depending on how comfortable you feel.

It is generally easiest to apply acupressure from both sides when treating the acupoint since that area of the leg can fold away from pressure easier than other areas. There is also the option to use dull yet precise objects, like chopsticks or a gua sha board, to apply pressure to the KD 7 point. The pressure applied should be firm; however, it should never break or damage the skin for acupressure treatment.

How Does This Point, In Combination With Others, Help Maintain My Health?

When the acupoint is combined with the KD-6, KI-1, and KI-3 kidney acupuncture points, the benefits are increased. This is because all of these points relate to improving the kidneys’ health and functionality, thus, increasing their ability to maintain vivid black hair through the protection of Jing essence.

The KD-6 point can be found directly below each ankle’s inner protrusion, and it serves to nourish the kidneys and calm the body’s energy. The KI 1 point is located two-thirds of the way up each foot from the heal in line with the crevasse created from the third toe from the pinky toe. This point acts to promote healthy Jing and subdue excess liver yang, an energy that can negatively impact the kidneys’ health over time. The final acupoint of this quartet is the KI 3 point, and it is located directly between the outer peak of the ankle bone and the Achilles tendon, as mentioned prior.

Massaging this chain of kidney acupuncture points opens up the energy pathway to the kidneys for proper health and prevents the buildup of harmful energies. These acupoints can be massaged in any order for an improved impact on maintaining vivid black hair, as long as they are all used in close proximity. Remember to apply acupressure regularly to these areas for the best results.

Hand Pressure Points: How to Use Them, Where to Find Them, and More

Although more scientific research is still needed to prove the touted health benefits, many people turn to pressure points due to their limited side effects and ability to reduce pain and promote relaxation.

In acupressure, pressure points are thought to be powerfully sensitive parts of the body. Some people believe that by applying pressure to our body’s pressure points, it can help relieve pain, establish balance, and improve health throughout the body.

There are eight essential pressure points in the hand. Here’s where you can find them, what they do, and how you can manipulate them for your benefit:

Heart 7

The heart 7 pressure point can be found in the crease of your wrist. It lies in line with the space between your ring and pinkie finger.

There’s a bone directly in line next to this pressure point. Reflexologists claim that applying gentle pressure to this spot may protect against anxiety, insomnia, heart palpitations, and depression.

Small intestine 3

The small intestine 3 pressure point is located at the outside part of your hand, right on the edge. The point lies in the depression of your hand just below your pinkie finger.

Putting firm pressure on this point is thought to relieve neck pain, earaches, and headaches that occur at the back of your head.

Lung meridian

You can find your lung meridian pressure point by looking at the edge of your hand. It runs from the tip of your thumb down along the side of your hand, ending just beneath the crease of your wrist.

Run your finger along this line. If you find a sore spot along this line, reflexologists say you should gently massage it until it feels better. This may help relieve any cold symptoms, such as chills, sneezing, runny nose, and sore throat.

Inner gate point

The inner gate point can be found in a special spot on the crease of your wrist. Hold out your hands as if you’re receiving a gift, with your wrists together. Take one hand and feel about 3 centimeters out from where your wrists were touching in the middle.

Reflexologists recommend you massage this point firmly with your thumb. This is believed to improve your digestion and relieve any nausea or stomach pain.

Outer gate point

The outer gate point can be found between two tendons on the backside of the arm. Place three fingers from your other hand above your wrist. Use those fingers to apply firm pressure to this part of your hand to potentially give your immune system a quick boost.

Reflexologists also believe applying pressure to this part of the hand could give you a rush of energy.

Wrist point 1

You can find your wrist point 1 on your wrist. Run a finger down your pinkie to your wrist crease, keeping it in line with your finger. Now you’ve found the point.

Reflexologists claim that firmly pressing on your wrist point 1 regularly may help promote happiness by regulating your emotions.

Base of the thumb point

The base of the thumb point is located on your wrist. Run a finger down your thumb, to your wrist crease at the base of your thumb. Applying gentle pressure and massaging this point with your finger is believed to help alleviate respiratory and breathing problems.

Hand valley point

The hand valley point can be found in the firm skin between the thumb and index finger. Reflexologists claim that applying firm touch to this pressure point may help reduce stress, as well as alleviate migraines, toothaches, shoulder tension, and neck pain.

Tips to taking care of your kidney中医养肾

What is the function of our Kidney?

All of the blood in your body passes through the kidney several times a day. The kidney removes waste products from the blood and regulates the water fluid levels in the body.

When your kidneys are damaged, waste products and fluid can build up in your body. That can cause a reduced amount of urine, swelling in your legs, knees and ankles, nausea, weakness. Over time, it can lead to more severe problems such as high blood pressure and even kidney failure.

Your kidneys can affect the health of your heart.

Your heart and kidneys are two important organs in your body. They both work together to keep you healthy. When the kidney is affected, you become more prone to heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) diseases as well.

Acupressure for Kidney Health

A simple way you can take charge of your kidney’s health is to massage an acupressure point called “Yongquan”. This point stimulates a key point on the Kidney channel. Rubbing it may be sore, but this means you’re hitting the right spot. It stimulates your kidney function and relieves symptoms such as high blood pressure, night sweats, hot flashes, hypertension, insomnia, anxiety, and more.

The acupoint is located at the bottom of each foot. Starting with your left foot, massage this point using your thumb at your own comfortable pace.

Five Element Acupressure

Fuliu – Returning Current – Kidney 7

Today, some hot-off-the-press content, an acupoint not included in my books.

I woke this morning to find that yesterday was Adelaide’s wettest July day in 75 years. Water, water everywhere: puddles in the street, bulging dams, squelching lawns, the earth bloated with wetness. Even the air is filled with moisture, mist hanging in the trees. A perfect day to talk about a Water acupoint that is the master of fluid management.

One of the responsibilities of the Kidney Official is to keep the body fluids in balance. Fuliu Returning Current is a point that supports the Kidney in this task. When fluids are flooding the tissues, pooling in the low places and unable to be expelled from the body, this powerful Kidney point can serve.

Let’s look at some of the conditions that this point addresses.

Oedema is the accumulation of fluid in the body which causes tissues to become swollen. It occurs most commonly in the feet, ankles and lower legs. But it can also affect the brain, the eyes and lungs. Oedema can even occur throughout the body. Fuliu promotes the expelling of excess fluid in all these cases.

Urinary problems such as difficult urination, dark urine and blood in the urine can be treated with this point. Moreover, it controls other kinds of bleeding, from blood in the stool, from haemorrhoids, and uterine bleeding.

What we see is that K 7 brings balance to fluid flow, increasing flow where it is stagnant, and constricting flow where it is in excess. This can be observed in its capacity to bring balance whether there is excessive perspiration or lack of perspiration. It treats night sweats, spontaneous sweating, ceaseless sweating and fever with absence of sweating. Some people have a hard time working up a sweat, even with vigorous activity. This means that toxins normally expelled by perspiration are retained in the body. Returning Current can help rectify this dysfunction.

Not least of Fuliu’s talents is that of tonifying the Kidneys. It is the Metal point on a Water meridian, meaning that it draws Qi from the mother (Lung) to the son (Kidney). This process of tonification strengthens the Kidney Qi, so long as the Lung contains sufficient Qi to pass it on. This can be best ascertained from the pulse. If you don’t have access to this information, then I suggest you hold the source point K 3 at the same time. (Click here for article on K 3.) By using this combination, you will avoid draining the Lung since the source point neutralises an incorrect treatment.

When there is depletion, exhaustion, weakness from overtaxing the body and draining of one’s resources, Fuliu can help restore vitality. But use this point sparingly. Don’t use it as you might reach for a cup of coffee to jolt you into action. Conserve your resources during the remainder of the winter. Rest, recuperate and strengthen your Water within.

Location of Kidney 7

On the inside of the lower leg, in the hollow between the bone of the tibia and the Achilles tendon, and 2 cun (body inches) above the inner ankle and K 3. Use moderate, direct pressure.
