Skipped ‘***’ — An obstructing working copy was found

If you has no local modifications in dir , than it is simple:

Update dir to HEAD Remove dir/.svn directory Use svn co … with –force option revert possible local modifications (possible if you not executed #1 or HEAD was changed after step#1) with svn revert dir -R

Skipped obstructing working copy

Problem: Update the file with svn update:

Command: Update

Updating: path\to\working\copy

Skipped obstructing working copy: path\to\working\copy\project

Reason: It means that SVN wants to create a project folder under copy, but there is already a folder called project under copy.

Solution: remove or delete the original project (if it is determined that it is useless), then update, bingo!

TortoiseSVN reports conflict, but no conflict can be found – iTecNote

conflictsvntortoisesvnversion-controlworking-directory

I have a working copy for my entire repository, which contains multiple Python projects. When I choose right-click –> SVN Update in Windows File Explorer I am getting an error message listing a particular project folder:

Command: Update Updating: path\to\working\copy Skipped obstructing working copy: path\to\working\copy\project Completed: At revision: 176 Warning!: One or more files are in a conflicted state.

When I go to that project and right-click –> SVN Update, it updates successfully. There is also not conflict editor available and when I right-click –> TortoiseSVN –> Resolved there are not files available.

What could be causing the conflict? As long as this keeps occurring, it is impossible to update this project in my working copy.

Arizona Senator, Kyrsten Sinema, makes herself a roadblock to Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. John Iadarola and Jordan Uhl break it down on The Damage Report.

Read more here:

Sinema eyes changes to tax, climate portions of reconciliation bill – https://www.axios.com/2022/08/03/sinema-tax-climate-reconciliation

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) is eyeing changes to Democrats’ $740 billion reconciliation bill — specifically increasing climate funding and restructuring the tax provisions — as the Senate moves rapidly toward final passage before the August recess, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: Sinema is the one senator potentially standing in the way of Democrats clinching President Biden’s longtime goal of passing an ambitious package tackling climate change, health care and taxes — renamed the \”Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.\”

That position gives her a huge amount of leverage as Democrats await a verdict from the Senate parliamentarian over whether the bill complies with the \”Byrd Rule,\” which controls what provisions can be included in the budget reconciliation process.

The fact the negotiations were conducted entirely in secret between Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) — catching Sinema by surprise — has left her space for an 11th hour intervention.\”

I don’t know of a way to do this. You can try deleting the .svn directory inside the new working copy to see what happens, but you could just end up screwing it up. I’d make a copy first. That’s just a guess, you might get a better answer from somebody else. > – Is there a way, for a working copy that has originally been checked > out using “choose items”, > to select more items to include when updating, to avoid this > situation in the future? > This I can answer. Use “Update to Revision” and select the items again with the same dialog. Or use the command-line tools with one of the switches to the “svn update” command. Basically, if you’re modifying the current working copy, you want “update”, and you only use “checkout” when you want a *new* working copy. —————————————————— http://tortoisesvn.tigris.org/ds/viewMessage.do?dsForumId=4061&dsMessageId=3051022

I had just migrated from an older svn version to a newer one, and a newer server. The local working directories were still pointing at the old server. The svn relocate command fixed the problem. see: D:\dev\svn_monitor>svn help relocate relocate: Relocate the working copy to point to a different repository root URL. usage: 1. relocate FROM-PREFIX TO-PREFIX [PATH…] 2. relocate TO-URL [PATH] Rewrite working copy URL metadata to reflect a syntactic change only. Use ‘svn info’ to determine the current working copy URL. 2. TO-URL is the (complete) new repository URL to use for PATH. This is the Subversion way to make a working copy begin tracking a new branch. If specified, PEGREV determines in which revision the target is first looked up. See the section called “Traversing Branches” for an in-depth look at switching. If the obstructing path is the same type (file or directory) as the corresponding path in the repository, it becomes versioned but its contents are left untouched in the working copy. This means that an obstructing directory’s unversioned children may also obstruct and become versioned. For files, any content differences between the obstruction and the repository are treated like a local modification to the working copy. All properties from the repository are applied to the obstructing path. As with most subcommands, you can limit the scope of the switch operation to a particular tree depth using the –depth option. Alternatively, you can use the –set-depth option to set a new “sticky” working copy depth on the switch target.

With the manual way, you create a new folder just to checkout the previous version you wish to revert to (say r68) and do some file-hacking there. Let’s call that folder “r68checkoutFolder”. This is the source folder for most of the below operations. The target folder is the “checkout75” (latest commit SVN tip) folder. So, in the r68checkoutFolder you do a:

I don’t know of a way to do this. You can try deleting the .svn

directory inside the new working copy to see what happens, but you

could just end up screwing it up. I’d make a copy first. That’s just a

guess, you might get a better answer from somebody else.

This I can answer. Use “Update to Revision” and select the items again

with the same dialog.

Or use the command-line tools with one of the switches to the “svn

update” command. Basically, if you’re modifying the current working

copy, you want “update”, and you only use “checkout” when you want a

*new* working copy.

Obstructed folders in Subversion

Without knowing what causes this, the solution can be to export the working copy (the entire checkout you have locally) to somewhere else.

If you are using tortoisesvn, you get the option to “export un-versioned files”, but I think if doing it from the command line it only exports versioned files so you might have a bit of a laborious task copying un-versioned files manually.

Once done, check out a clean working copy and then drop the exported backup you have over the top of it. It’s very important that the backup has no .svn folders in it.

I’ve seen these errors before when people have checked out working copies inside other working copies or anything else that corrupts the .svn entries.
